  • Here at MBY we are fortunate to test some very large and expensive boats but there is something so pure and rewarding about taking to sea in a well-packaged RIB that is ready to go - including a trailer and tax - for a whisker over £50,000. Deputy editor Jack Haines takes a quick spin in the Aquaspirit 585 CC...
    Aquaspirit 585 CC specifications
    LOA: 19ft 2in (5.85m)
    Beam: 8ft 0in (2.45m)
    Draught: 1ft 6in (0.5m)
    Engines: Single outboard 100-150hp
    Claimed top speed: 42 knots
Top speed on test: 35 knots
Fuel consumption at cruising speed: 20 litres per hour
    Hull material: Aluminium alloy
RCD category: C for 8 people
    Starting price: £35,193
    Price as tested: £50,037

**Update **The VHF holder is not a factory option. This was not supplied by us. There is now new improved upholstery and we no longer have the large net under the console.

Perfect timing BTW. It's good to support a good cause in buying up whatever they have built.

the perfect starter boat doesnt cost £50k, loose £10k the day you buy it, require full wet weather gear and is best suited to rough water

A nice sub £50K starter rib that when tidied up would become a great sized inshore or coastal boat, a great tour of this newly built "Aquaspirit" Jack!

Looks great, shame some of the quality has been let down by what must amount to a few hundred dollars worth of cost cutting

That glaring set of what can only be scissor cut marks, or a deranged man with a Stanley (utility) Knife, on the plastic holder fitted on the right hand side of the dash. [Edited after watching it again - 06:00 it’s the alleged holder for a hand held VHF, iCom must be having a coronary looking at that level of bodging]. That’s not what I would call a custom fit.
If I was confronted with that after laying out my £50K…….

      @@aquaspiritribs299 thank god for that!
I had a look over your stand on the Thursday, there was no sign of the offending item. The upholstery work seems to have improved. And you’re working to a price point. I wish you well with the sales.
So 8,000 views for a UA-cam video and I wonder what the footfall was over those four days at the Boatlife Show? Did you convert interest to sales?

One critique i have to make, that welding looks like it was done by a blindman, i'm not sure i'd pay fifty thousand for a boat from Ukraine for one, or that had such awful welding for two, would it kill them to grind back their rough work.

For an _aluminium_ outboard? This is a starter price. That you cannot afford it doesn't change the fact it's a starter price.

    • @rykehuss3435

Obviously nobody with regular amount of money buys a 50k boat as a starter boat alone, you get some friends together and its bought together in a co-ownership fashion.

@@darthkek1953 And an ally boat isn't a normal starter boat either. A starter boat, for most people is glass-fibre, s/h and half that cost. It also looks shoddy and not worth the ticket price.
