Why we STOPPED talking about VILLA VIE RESIDENCES…

- We announced big cruise news as we are moving into a cruise ship! However, since then, we have stopped talking about Villa Vie Residences Cruise Ship Villa Vie Odyssey. We are going to tell you why we stopped talking about Villa Vie Residence and our honest thoughts on Villa Vie Residences as a brand after so many negative comments have been made on our other videos. These videos include How much does moving into a cruise ship cost? We addressed all the reasons why we are moving into a cruise ship, the money saving tips, and financial budget planning to move into a cruise ship. We also talked the difference in saving money while living at sea instead of living on land such as in The Villages Florida. We addressed why cruise passengers are moving onto residential cruise ships by new Residential Cruise Lines including our exciting cruise news of the residential cruise ship we planned to be moving into and if we will be moving in to our new cruise ship residence. Are these cruise passengers justified in their decision to move in to residential cruise ships? Should you book a Residential Cruise Ship Cabin or book a World Cruise Segment? This is the latest cruise news in tandem across the cruise industry where all cruise lines are making cruise cutbacks for cruise passengers onboard cruise ships during 2024 and we were surprised by the affordability of moving into a cruise ship in 2024! How are residential cruise ships different for cruise passengers than mainstream ocean cruises or world cruises on mainstream cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean World Cruise on Serenade of the Seas Cruise Ship or Cunard World Cruise at sea? How do Cruise Ship Crew handle these residential cruise passengers? Are cruise ship passengers okay with residential cruise lines and 2024 changes to cruises? We talk through our experiences and excitement with partnering with a new cruise line. This affects cruisers from the World’s Biggest Cruise Ship Class, to the World’s Smallest Cruise Ship Class and every Cruise Ship in between as Residential Cruise Ships may take over the Cruise Industry as a new way to Travel the World on a budget while being digital nomads and working at sea. What are your thoughts in our inside cruise chat on the biggest announcement of us moving into a Cruise Ship 2024? Would you retire on a cruise ship instead of a retirement community such as the Villages Florida? Would you want to live your life traveling the world by sea onboard a cruise ship?

This video is not paid for by Villa Vie or requested by Villa Vie. We are purely excited for this concept of affordable residential cruise ships and look forward to seeing what’s next to come. 😊
No one knows the future (though some in the comments type like they do). We don’t know the future either and have stated this. That said, we hope for the best and are rooting-on these passengers and company in this groundbreaking journey 🥳
As travel agents what do you get if someone books a segment or buys in through you?
@@PeaceTrainJump we can’t book Villa Vie. So we don’t book or get anything.
@@PeaceTrainJump It should set off alarm bells that they aren't cooperating with travel agents. That's because there would a lot of angry travel agents right about now.
@@rebeccahowell6538 truth
And the pinned comment should add what one of your replies buried in the comments at bottom said "we were invited on the Odyssey ". That means when/if you go, it is a free cruise. That is a form of payment which I would think is not uncommon for cruise influencers (?) . I don't understand why you appear to be so shy to say so and why many multiple of people have to ask and then you post this sidestepping non answer multiple times. You gain credibility, and I feel it is defensible, to be able to say you won't be charged for the cruise and you feel able to give your honest opinion about how it works out for you.
This ship cannot dock at US ports or Canada because they don’t meet US or Canadian Coast Guard regulations! I would never travel on a ship unable to dock in US!
Or China ... This would mean you need to keep adding international airfare on to the cost . Is the ship simply not up to safety code / standards ? When you buy a house you need a house inspection .. so you know what you are buying into I would think
This sounds like a 1990's timeshare😂
Your enthusiasm understandable, as you have the “insider” perspective. We all understand groundbreaking concepts have bumpy launches, but this situation is a contract violation plain and simple. Also, this is not an Uber ride or a Big Mac. You are talking about hopeful residents that spent tens, even hundreds of thousands of dollars on this dream. The residents have upheld their end of the contract, and Villa Vie has not. Period. And to make matters worse, residents expressing their ongoing concerns are now having their contracts terminated.
Yep. They sound pretty terrible.
JJ Cruise is totally tone deaf to what's been going on. Perhaps they haven't followed Jenny's story, but that's unlikely. That's why they suddenly addressed this. JJ Cruise- you don't want a free cruise on this tub and you aren't going to get one anyway. This thing is a dud. Mike used popular bloggers to legitimize this scam. It's a Ponzi- he is collecting money, over-promising, under-delivering, ousted people and laughing in their faces- saying "go ahead and sue me in the Marshall Islands"- which interestingly he switched the company to the Marshall Islands- AFTER he secured the money for the venture and to line his pockets with. This is BAIT and SWITCh. He is not a pioneer- he is a conman. You'd know that if you did any research at all.
If only this were a "groundbreaking" concept! Instead this is just a company (read greedy CEO/management) who aren't even capable of emulating an idea that is already being executed by a different company...
Terminating the contracts and not offering refunds, and having people move in before the ship was even seaworthy screams money grab!
@@stephanieguttas3718 some folks know how to succinctly spell facts without malice or personal attacks. You are one of them. JENNYATSEA who had her contract cancelled, baggage and money held is another
Yeah we are not talking about two trillion dollar Amazon or the trillion dollar fast food industry here! We are talking about a few hundred people who want to go on a long pleasure cruise. This is way more serious!
Delays are understandable; the problem was that they asked people on too early. They should have passed everything first before inviting people to come to Belfast. This was a self inflicted wound.
Completely agree. Mistakes that they can learn from for the future when repairs or dry docks will need to be made. ☺️
@@JJCruise How long do you think a 32 year old ship is going to last? The ship also has abandoned all the interesting ports in favor or doing their first time on the open sea, since 2019, and they plan to head to the Bahamas. Exciting tourist trap Nassau and all the other run of the mill islands that any ship can go to. There is nothing but typical cruise ports on their itinerary. This is a nothing burger.
@@JJCruise And yet they have not as yet ever learned from their mistakes and if you followed the situation closely and in a non biased manner , you would know that. Right up to actual launch date of 10/3 they still continuously and repeatedly said they were leaving which was completely impossible as all their 30ish launch dates from May 15 to October 2 had been. The weekend of September 28 they had 6 outstanding conditions from DNV to be rectified before receiving their Passenger Ship Safety Certification and their Class Certification without which they could not sail. They spent the weekend fixing those items and yet incredibly said they were leaving Monday 9/30. On Monday they needed to have DNV retest those 6 conditions (air quality etc), they needed to pass all of them, needed DNV to write up the report, have it reviewed by engineers, issue the certificates and sail All. On.The. Same. Day. Ridiculous lack of planning. And of course the retest found issues and they received 1 certification but not the other and didn't sail. After 4.5 months of timeline failures and lack of realistic planning, at the end they still were showing they were doing the same thing over and over.
Now they've set sail and have a certification (International Ballast Water Management Certificates-treatment method issued only short term due to inadequacies) which expires 10/30 and 5 others also issued short term due to deficiencies after 4.5 months of renovation which expire 12/24 and 12/25 (including the Passenger Ship Safety Certification, Class certification, oil pollution, air pollution, sewage pollution (this one 12/10)). They have intermittent problems with water on the ship and have cut it off multiple times, have had intermittent problems with no hot water (how are dishes being sterilized??), have had toilets that won't flush on the entire ship multiple times. There is no water in the pools and hot tubs (water issues).
If you want to be advocate for a cruise line it would be a great idea to do a little research and educate yourself so you can educate your followers rather than fooling them.
When they kicked off the two women for expressing valid complaints in a private chat, that did it for me. It’s a horrible company. Why are you sucking up to them?
For the potential of cruising for free in one of their largest cabins, of course
ua-cam.com/video/oNPolpe67Bo/v-deo.htmlsi=KILwr3SacFkwdD13
Going by this list, I think most people would’ve complained and very vociferously too. This channel doesn’t mention any of these issues, of course.
Because apart from the free cruise they had as 'media', next would be financial reward or future freebies from this promotional video.
You are not telling the whole story. Why r u kissing the womens backside 🤔🤡
Just because someone makes a comment that you deem negative or critical does not make them "a hater." I think perhaps you need to update some of your definitions a little bit
Exactly. Disrespectful to speak to loyal viewers this way. Not as ting to see others get ripped off isn't being a hater.
Too quick like other so-called influencers to call people haters who do not agree with the way they think.
I agree……
@@dlgregory35 Very similar to the environment and opinion of the "residents" in waiting, I firsthand experienced it -Terminated for "complaining".
@@JennyatSeaI just saw the news cast about your termination for the texts. I came looking for what was going on & here you are in these comments! (if you’re Jenny Phoenix). It’s terrible what they did. People can’t have an opinion & verbalize it anymore! And it’s not just an opinion, but you’re talking about your truthful lived experience with this company.
I can appreciate all residence being so optimistic. As an x crew member on many ships, i would never sail around the world on a vessel that is 30 years old folks. You're in the middle of the world and the ship as problems. What then. Be safe. As worked on ships, most people don't have any idea of emergency evacuations, water tight doors, engine rooms etc.
You probably should’ve kept your silence because that came off as extremely apologetic and overly defensive
Good luck! Hope it works out for all.
McDonalds and other companies you mentioned don’t ban their customers for bad reviews. The way they run business is a very bad concept.

Very well stated Jordan! Cheers to you🍾Nay sayers may have the right to state their opinion on an open forum but they don’t have the right to tell the VV residents they shouldn’t do it let alone be mean spirited toward them. Shameful. Good luck VV residents that have toughened it out🥳 May you set sail soon and enjoy the adventure of a lifetime in whatever ports welcome you🙏🏼
I don't understand how anybody with any moral integrity can be ok with this company given what they did to the woman that they kicked off the ship. Even though the "founders" voted her off because they thought she didn't fit in with the community, it is morally and ethically wrong that Villa Vie has refused to refund this woman her money for a product that they never delivered and refused to return her luggage back to her. How can you all be ok with that? How can you support this company in any way?
I agree with you
@@rebeccahowell6538 Thank you, Rebecca. If you have ideas about how we can help Jenny, please let me know. I can imagine that she must be so demoralized and exhausted. She's in survival mode right now and maybe not in a position to fight. If we can band together, maybe we can figure out a way to support her. I hope JJ Cruise will join us. We must stand up for what is right. I have friends in Europe who constantly put down the US for our politics, but one thing I know is that we are really good about banding together and standing up for each other. That is our biggest strength. Let's do it now for Jenny. JJ Cruise, will you join us? Just you talking to Villa Vie could have a major impact. You know what is right: Jenny should be refunded her money and given back her luggage. That is it. That is the bare minimum and Villa Vie hasn't done that.
One of my favorite musicals is Les Miserables. I cry when I think about those young students in France who had all the opportunity in the world, and still they were willing to give up their lives for people who were less fortunate. When watching, sometimes I think to myself: "What part would I play in a revolution? Would I be sitting in my living room, would I be supporting the queen/king, or would I be risking my life on the barricades?" The great thing about this situation is that we don't need to risk our lives here. The most that JJ Cruise could lose is maybe a free trip on a cruise. JJ Cruise, can you just advocate for Jenny to get her money and belongings back? You have power. Would you be willing to use it for good?
@@rebeccahowell6538 thank you. I am so heartbroken and flabbergasted by what this company has done to Jenny and how JJ Cruise and others seem to be unbothered by it. I guess I kind of assumed that JJ Cruise would not be ok with an injustice like this and I'm in shock. I have friends in Europe who criticize the politics in the US, but I defend us because I know we tend to speak out and stand up for what is right. I hope we can pull together and support Jenny. If you have any ideas on how we can do that, please let me know. JJ Cruise, please use your power to talk to Villa Vie and advocate for Jenny getting back her money and luggage.
@@rebeccahowell6538 my responses keep disappearing. JJ Cruise and Villa Vie can't be trusted. I am very disappointed in JJ Cruise because I thought they might have some integrity.
Ville Vie responded to me personally and said they bought this ship AFTER they posted pictures of cabins and sold memberships. They cannot visit USA Ports because the ship doesn’t meet USCG REQUIREMENTS and REGULATIONS. Unbelievable.
Bait and Switch. JJ Cruise is backing the wrong team and losing a lot of credibility.
That should be a BIG RED flag. Walk away now!
Some could argue that US and Canadian standards are too high and that is why we don't get the best European and Japanese cars. But as a US resident I kinda enjoy the high standards.
@@lfsmithme2 As someone who has worked in the Transportation industries to include Heavy equipment to Aircraft, there are never enough safety and precautionary standards, they keep everyone alive if followed. This ship and its owners are sailing on a shoestring.
@@Teacher659 I agree 100%. There is potential danger on that ship.
It is extremely disingenuous of you to paint all of the Villa Vie criticism as "fear of innovation" or "not understanding the magnitude of this undertaking" when the vast majority of the criticism is leveled at the management team and their poor judgement through this entire fiasco. Did you know that the CEO admitted, in an interview, that he KNEW the ship had structural/operational issues, but he assumed he would be given a pass on inspection? That's at best naive and incompetent and at worst borderline negligence. The fact that people are seeing red flags all over this venture has nothing to do with the "innovative" concept.
So true

@@papcx lol
We have no NDA or contract with VV. They invited us to come aboard (on our schedule), and we think the potential of this product is exciting.
I am sorry and i hope everything passes but to have everyone come to belfast in may sailing was a bit of a stretch especially after only taking delivery from the sale a month prior! Before they got everyone to Belfast everything should have been passed all certifications in hand etc. this alone could have saved them hundreds of thousands of dollars!
Absolutely agree. Errors were made in predicting timelines. That said, this happens with major cruise lines who have been around for years as well such as Princess Cruises who did something similar with the launch of Sun Princess.
Thus, we can understand this error in judgement happens whether a new or established cruise line. Impact still hurts finances and those booked, but we can understand the urgency in planning to set sail sooner than later.
@@JJCruise major cruise lines don't have the expectation of fixing up a 30 year old ship who was in storage for 2 years not sailing at all and expecting it to pass all certs the first time when all certs have expired! the ship yard probably told them their timeline was unreasonable! but they chose to not listen to the people who knew better
@@JJCruise it is important to recognize the facts as well. Of course the vision and concept of the cruise as well as its original itinerary is amazing. Unfortunately the execution has been very surprisingly inept. As mentioned they purchased a 31 year old ship which hadn't moved for 4 years and with no maintenance records and no certifications closing around March 7. They intended, through their own statements, to sail the ship within 2 weeks to Belfast for an 8 week renovation (originally 10 weeks per their February press release). Once taking possession they found out about the lapsed certifications (which standard due diligence would have shown before purchase) so they found this out in March and the ship was unable to move to Belfast for 7 weeks (around April 24). They lowered the renovation timeline to 3 weeks even knowing all the above and any layperson would know that was completely impossible.
@@papcx we have no contract or NDA with Villa Vie.
@@JJCruise at a minimum the NDA in the Terms and Conditions will apply to you when you are booked for a segment. If you want to review the T&C you can find it on their website by scrolling very far down to the very bottom and there is a link on the bottom left.
I love the idea of Villa Vie ! I would love to live on a cruise ship. I feel bad that they had some issues getting ready, but am so happy that they are ready to go. I am celebrating with them !!🍾🍾
They really aren’t having issues what they really are having is money problems. And this is because they’re trying to sell the dream of living on a cruise ship for a price that does not produce enough revenue to actually provide a cruise ship to live on with an experience that anybody would really want to live.
I watched your comparison video several times and it was enough proof my husband and I needed to make living full time on a ship a top priority and a goal for us.

You’re not mentioning the very age of ship won’t allow it to dock in some countries. Why won’t it be able to pass American cruise ship regulations? There’s much more to this story
I was at my travel agent, looking at world cruises, and she said that Villa Vie was vaporware, which I did not believe, and I understand why travel agents would be opposed to the concept of nontraditional residential sea travel. It’s good to know that it’s close to being launched.
Are they paying for you to join them? Paying for the cruise?
Very exciting, however...the ship is on the older side. What happens if a major repair is needed or she needs to go to dry dock. Where does everyone go for that period of time !?!?!?
This is why they are trying to get as much done prior to setting sail. We believe they will likely house residents during dry docks in the future like they did initially through these delays but that is not confirmed.
@@JJCruise Thanks!
In the grand scheme of things a few months delay is nothing especially if it's to ensure the safely of the cruisers. Keep on doing what you do Guys..... you're doing great!🥂🍾😎
So you have more than a slight conflict of interest when it comes to objectively assessing/critiquing Villa Vie? You also overlook the recent expulsion of some passengers and the peculiar need for them to have signed NDAs.
🍾 🥂 🎉. Congrats! Can’t wait to see your adventures on board!
Your cheerleading this disaster may affect your credibility. Anyone thinking this wreck will leave shortly and sail smoothly is on crack.
It also gets them tons of engagement. Good or bad engagement earns money and more views 😮
@@janegerow5974 Sure. But there are plenty of cruise industry content creators out there, and they’ll either be more transparent or impartial than what we are seeing here. A viewer/prospective passenger needs a base level of trust when making a judgement.
Does the fact that Odyssey is now anchored offshore change the legal status of the ship under maritime or civil law?
It is SO funny that you came out with this video. I was just going to message you asking about it! Thanks.
JJ Cruises, The World Cruise Ship is a Residential Ship,it is now in Sydney Harbour,Villa Vie is not the "FIRST"
@@fredwalsh4108 it is the first affordable residential cruise ship. The World is a luxury vessel.

I would do it now it doesn't look like it will be running 6 months from now
I wish you well, but 4 months of delay and an old aging ship, good luck.
I have been following a couple of the current residents’ channels and wish them nothing but the best and hope they sail this weekend…do you know what the status of other certifications are which I believe if they don’t get the ship can’t sail to the US, Canada , Japan (and others)and I also read that China won’t let it in because the ship is over 30 years old…not sure if this is all true but these are certainly a lot of highlights of a world cruise that would sorely missed on the itinerary…
The beauty of proving a concept is good is that more people will then believe in the concept and support it financially. With more money and support comes more opportunities for adjustments and improvements. ☺️
It is not certain what hurdles will come Villa Vies way for this first World Cruise, but we are certain this is the start of something exciting! 🥳
They do not have, and at present are not trying to get, the extra certifications for the Artic nor for the US (though they hope they might at a future point). China has rules against ships over 30, but they are subjectively applied so it's a toss up whether or not they'll be allowed to go to China. Additionally some European and South Pacific and other countries are tightening regulations for ships and ages due to climate change so the list of places where the ship may not be able to go, including for refueling and supplies, could increase and some already have set dates when these regulations will apply. One assumes none of this was considered nor researched before the company chose a 31 year old ship.
@@JJCruise They have concepts....Where have we heard that term used recently?
@SuzyEH My thought exactly! This whole mess sounds like a biz concept of another known scam artist!
🍾🥂 I guess I can understand some people's skepticism. The reality is that big projects never go exactly as scheduled. There are always surprises. You have to expect some delays and budget busting. Anyone who has redone their kitchen will agree. You have to stay positive to enjoy the end result!
Great analogy! 🙌🏽
No one can predict the future, but we are excited to see what’s to come.
I literally have been thinking of my kitchen remodel while reading these stories
Just checking the Villa Vie website, the ship is only at about 80% occupied. Many cabins still available, even for partial cruises. Also, there IS a monthly fee of around $4000/mo, per person, depending upon cabin size. Some are more, some are less. But that is a per person fee every month.
It seems to be significantly less than 80%. Jason of course said at the beginning of the video that it was almost sold out and of course he was told that by VV. However that was company spin. In a May interview the CEO said they had only done some work (significantly less remodeling than had been sold) on 295 cabins and sold 270 of these (out of 495 pax cabins on the ship). So the CEO then said they were 90% sold - true if you don't base it off the total number of cabins on the ship (good spin). Most of the resident vloggers and bloggers have guessed 150 passengers (on a ship with capacity for 924 pax) and a Founder (resident who also invested in the company and who get a higher level of company information) posted a breakdown of where each resident that had thus far booked the cruise, even just a few segments, came from and there were 315 people. Total. Also keep in mind the crew should be on deck 2 but are temporarily relocated to a passenger deck - deck 3 so this entire deck which has the greatest number of cabins shows as full (but not with passengers).
@@RetiredZGrt If you don't mind saying, where did you find that breakdown of where booked passengers were from ? My husband and I are booked for a segment, and I would like to see that ...
@@lpo32547 Good luck
@@lpo32547 I don't ever mention the names of residents nor Founders when they disclose information because I do not want to get them in trouble. It is 85% American.

Love you guys, congratulations on the good news.
My assessment of you cruise experience was suspect, but now that you are “evaluating ” land based living with this long term cruise living, think about how long it took to get it off the ground. So J&J have you purchased a cabin on this ship? What I have seen - I could not live in a $199,900 cabin with $5,000 a month expense.
Definitely sounds like an ad to me. They have taken peoples hard earned money for them to do what. Sit in Belfast.
You are ridiculous
Yeah I'm so glad I said from the start I wouldn't hold my breath for this sailing, I'd be dead many times over 🤣
Sure, and I get that after the first company that tried it went down, but I've talked to VV too and decided to wait to 2028 (if that happens) due to bad timing on my part atm.
The thing is noone else on earth, offers this kinda WFH-cruise that is SO extensive in the iternary and has so many things built-in that worked for me. I didn't know about the US/CND ban on docking though, but zero other people offer the ability to WFH and travel unless you wanna do digi nomad in crap locations 3 months at a time on own dime, health etc.

We love you guys!!!
OMG? Ground breaking? Ever heard of The World? Plus, VVR is using a 30-year old ship with cabins designed for temprorary cruising.
It is ground breaking in a way that they are trying to sell small cabins as "Villas".
There are so many problems with the company, ownership, the ship itself, financing etc.
You are way too positive about this given all the problems the ship has had. And, comparing it to The Villages, FL where we live ludicrous and way off base. Our house has doubled in price since we bought it. We have a nice equity in it, which VV will never give you. And you are apparently getting some kind of kick back or commission on the sales you are making as a result of this push. Shame on you for not coming right out and saying it up front.
VV is destined to fail and definitely not a recommended purchase. You never spoke about how their terms have changed, and what they are now taking away from the passengers like no more self-cooking kitchen, smaller cabins than originally purchased, some rooms were not ready when the customer boarded, etc. and 30 percent smaller than the contacted price. Buyer beware in this case. It is over a 30-year-old plus ship and destined for problems. And it cannot dock in North America or China or Japan because of its age. What does that tell you?
Its a scam look a like. Yes, one of the original founders disappeared and wont speak on this. There were two others who started their environmental program that went mia, the ship looks nothing like the original pictures that also suddenly disappeared

While many supplies may have been laid in already, there are some things that need to come in at the last minute, which is no small feat when you don't know when you are actually leaving.
Hoping everything works out for the best for all! 🥂
Good luck to them all. I hope you manage to get on board.
Us too!
Hey, what about all those people who sell their homes. And gave them their money And now they've got nothing to show for it, that's not right, not fair.
There's one born every minute you know.
I hope your expectations become reality and wish all “Bon voyage”. We are in our early 70s and wish them success. There are segments that interest us in Africa & Asia but they are (were) all scheduled for 2026 and 2027 and like many others I wasn’t willing to take the leap of faith for a deposit so far in advance on a company with no track record and no publicly available financial data, no matter how much I like the concept-especially given the age of the hull and the ship’s infrastructure. Hopefully things will go smoother and I’ll be happy if they prove the skeptics wrong.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 yay! Congratulations!

Jordan, your youth and lack of life experience is showing.
I'm not saying the VV biz model can't work, I'm saying this particular company is likely not going to work.
Obviously this company put the cart before the horse. They failed to do their do diligence on the ship they purchased. They failed to get enough working capital. They failed on their time lines. And now they are failing on their PR and image.
When a company screws up this much, it's extremely poor management..
Yes, it's a new concept, but a ship reno is not new. Basically they are a cruise company that is a timeshare. Again not new.
So screwing things up this bad is NOT LIKE APPLE, MCDONALDS, OR AMAZON.
It's a timeshare cruise company! Nothing really new!
With that said, this company has less than a 25% chance of lasting more than a couple of years.
To purchase a cabin on this ship is way more risk than I would be comfortable with.
Ask a timeshare owner how pleased they are with their purchase. My guess less than 5%.
RUN RUN RUN from this company.
Please note that saying we have a “lack of life experience” is a disparaging comment from someone who does not know us at all.
It’s okay to disagree, but attacking our “life experience” is not okay.
@@JJCruise You are either tone deaf- since you said "you'd have to live under a rock" not to have heard about what's happening with VVR. So what rock do you live under- if you can still think VVR is a smart investment- or the only information you've sought is from VVR,who have promised you a free world cruise that will never materialize (nor should you want to go).
@@JJCruise you need to not get offended so easily, especially when someone was not trying to offend you or hurt you in any way. They were just expressing their opinion to you about investing in this company.
@JeffreyStockard “your lack of life experience” has no factual grounding for a debate, nor is it an “opinion” that is okay to place on our channel as it attacks our credibility without merit.
“Being Offended” is not what we are dealing with here, it’s disparaging, inaccurate comments attacking our credibility that others may see and not know any better than to listen to that we are focused on here.
Hope that helps clarify. ☺️
@@JJCruise saying that you have a lack of life experience is not an attack of your credibility. All people at different points in their life have a lack of life experience. Sorry but no Brady was attacking your credibility or anything else.
That isn’t true…. The concept isn’t new though. ’The World’ is a luxury segment offering the same life at sea residential lifestyle.
This is a new concept as this is an “Affordable” Residential Cruise Ship. The World is Luxury and not accessible financially for most people.
Fair, but it’s still not a new concept…just a different target market.
It’s a new concept. The World was a brand new, purpose built, luxury residential “yacht”. This concept is to take an old cruise ship and repurpose it for affordable residential cruising. The Villa Vie is the first ever doing this concept.
@@allent1034 lol yeah okay, different vessel, same concept.
@@allent1034 Except of course for those who tried and failed or haven't yet launched. Storylines has been trying since 2019 and is still "trying " and Life At Sea tried and failed. The VV CEO and COO were previously with both of those companies as were a number of their marketing team.
Love your videos and channel. Keep up the great work!
I would in a heartbeat buy a cabin on Villa vie if I had the money. I wish I was on that ship! O Happy Days for all the lucky people on that cruise ship.
They would be lucky if they had the money to book a cabin on the only successful residential cruise ship the world I’m not sure given all the problems with the water and all the other things that are going wrong with this cruise ship that they’re all that lucky
🥂🥂 Here’s hoping Odyssey sails successfully soon!
For every success story, there are failures. Sometimes the public gets it wrong, like the examples that you mentioned. But sometimes the public is skeptical and gets it right. Remember Theranos? The Apple Newton? Laser Discs? Google Glass?
My point is - maybe Villa Vie will ultimately be successful. Maybe it won't. But it's too early for me to tell, and I look forward to your updates!
Glad to hear! 🎉🗺🥂
I don't see it to be ground breaking.
The other reason for not speaking is villa v has removed people for talking negatively about the cruise and all that happens…the boat is over 30 years old which because of that is not allowed in China and they can’t go to the US because they don’t mean coast guard standards. It’s a very small ship to be cruising where they are planning…I hope they do get to go because it will be interesting to watch. The 4 month delay has been sad.
I’ve seen this mentioned on other people’s posts but don’t know if it’s true. Do you have a source for those rules?
@@allent1034 numerous vlogs from residents and a lengthy interview from one who has been kicked off for negatively discussing the issues along with a clog from the CEO making announcements.
Yeah I’ve read it several times from people repeating it but can’t find an actual official source of those rules. If you find one please reply.
@@allent1034 the company has admitted on comments in their videos that they didn't obtain the necessary certifications to allow them to use US ports (of course they also didn't get the Artic certification . They hope to possibly get the US certifications in future, but that would require a lot of money and time and possibly further costly repairs and more time and the ship should already be underway at that point. A lot of the European brands with older ships avoid U.S. ports due to regulatory ($$$) reasons. Also, some of these US ports are booked years in advance and unless VV has already booked them for visits into the future it is possible there is not any space available. So far VV hasn't demonstrated a propensity to research and plan, but you could certainly look up Alaskan and Hawaiian ports and other US ports to see if there is a reservation.
Regarding China and old ships, according to industry insides, on paper there are some 30-year rules, but they can at times be subjectively implemented so Odyssey could be denied due to the rules or they might somehow be able to go but no guarantee. It appears as if the 31 year old ship with lapsed certifications was chosen without research into the impact on their aspirational itinerary as a number of countries are tightening rules on older ships with implementation dates already set. But VV's contract allows ports to be cancelled at any time for any reason and that has been employed to a great degree already.
@@allent1034 This is jenny phenix, I am the one who was booted off for complaining. If you google my name you will find many links to more information. Hope that helps.
These executives had no right taking money from people who believed every word that came out of their mouth. Since the beginning they have shown that they knew nothing about the maritime industry. And when asked about certain issues they would become defensive and block the person who asked the very important questions, me being one of them.
It is groundbreaking and this obviously comes with a lot of challenges. It seems a good and exciting concept.
Well said, SIr! 🚢
We are avid cruisers doing about 90 days a year. I've been following this story closely, along with the delays. Don't forget that Ritz Carlton Yachts had all kinds of delays when they were getting started. Best of luck!
Great point!
BUT Ritz Carlton had endless funds to fall back on to get their pet project up and running.................................................
@@maxthelab8457 you are correct, they were well financed. This residence ship is in my opinion very under funded and has a fair risk of bankruptcy. They seem to be making progress. It’s not something I would consider.
@@texasboy5117 There is NO WAY on Earth I would sell my bricks and mortar to fund boarding this vessel. If I had huge cash reserves then the concept might be fun and I would consider throwing 10% of that pot at it, but even then it would be much more fun to go from liner to liner over the course of time, at least it would be constantly exciting - new environments, people, food etc... Being on jazzed up cross channel ferry could get VERY boring after a few months.
@@maxthelab8457 my last thoughts are I agree with you. Far too much risk for me. We did a 29 day cruise to see if we liked it and was thinking about a world tour. After 25 days on. Viking line cruise we were ready to come home. That why we do multiple trips in a year.
I am SUPER excited about you guys going ahead with VV.
I hope the remaining smaller things can be ironed out over time, but a bit worried about the US/CND ban on docking though.
Its still a unique offer in the world - WFH and see 147 nations over 3½ yrs through 430 harbours.
@barath4545 US/CND is not the only place this ship can't go (despite the marketing allure of the itinerary for which they have the contractual right to cancel any port at any time for any reason). Countries such as China and Japan have regulations against 30 year old ships docking. This ship is 31 but will be older by the time it reaches Asia. Also the ship didn't get certified for the Artic.
This “sounds like” one Long “paid” PSA commercial for this company. Considering I recently heard there is a NDA clause Villa Vie requires you to agree to… I don’t see how you can be anything but positive publicly or they will revoke your ability to cruise with them! (As they have already done with others for complaining about this LONG delay)
We do NOT work for this company, or have an NDA (or any contract) with them. We are excited for an affordable world cruise, and it’s the first time we’re seeing something like this come onto the cruise scene. That’s it ☺️
@@JJCruise The New York Post recently reported this NDA (in the contract with customers) regarding the Villa Vie. Said they are using it against people who have complained. I am hoping Villa Vie works! I would love for it to be so successful that other companies create ships like this. I would love to travel extensively in my later years, and cruising is away for retirees to do that.
This is NOT a new concept! It’s been tried before and failed every time. It’s not “hate”, it’s reality.
The ceo already bankrupted one of these
Unless Harland & Wolff, who are in serious financial strife, have been paid for the work they have completed during the past months, I can't see them allowing the Odyssey to leave their yard.. That's probably why they are not letting passengers on board whilst its berthed there.
@@bernardstott4075 Agreed. H&W filed for bankruptcy publicly on 9-16-24 with Villa Vie work unfinished. Even if it passes the next sea test who would want to sail on a ship only partially refitted and with no air conditioning? Not a happy story for the hopeful.

Until they actually set sail they haven't innovated jack.
If they set sail, that isn't even success. They will probably set sail and then file bankruptcy in a few months.
J & J are enthusiastic about sharing options in life amd vacation and in this case, combining both. Many of us cruisers know that VV is not a new concept. The World, for example, has been sailing well, the world, for 20+ years. I looked into purchasing their entry level cabin for $240k with yearly HOA of $10k. That 10K covers the food, maintenance ancestors, housekeeping. If the ship needed to be dry docked then the ship would put up residents in similar class hotels. The itinerary would partially be determined by the residents. If a resident didn't want to be on the ship for am extended amount of time, they can opt to rent put their cabin at premium rates. It was a tempting deal back then, one that I wished I would have jumped on even as a frational owner with a handful of friends. Today, the World's cabin list and sell for the multi millions.
You can't compare VV with uber, this is an old ship & I have doubts the owners did their due diligence in the inspection. True things will inevitably go wrong, even the Icon had some problems recently, however there were too many red flags delays. Good luck to all, keep trying to save face so hopefully you may be able to get some money back.
@lolal1026 they definitely did not do their due diligence. The CEO admitted in his Progress and Updates video that when he took possession of the ship, all maintenance records had been deleted. What?!? He didn't review the maintenance records of a 31 year old ship that hadn't moved in 4 years during the Purchase Offer phase? The COO (his wife) admitted in her Open Letter that they were surprised when they found out the ship had no certifications, they had expected "smooth sailing ". What?!? They didn't review the certifications prior to purchase? That's like buying a house and not bothering to have a Title Search done and not bothering with a survey to ensure no encroachments. Who does that?
@RetiredZGrt precisely my point they DID NOT do their due diligence in their research before purchasing. They got what they paid for....big hunk of rusted metal. I wounder how many lawsuits are pending? Fingers crossed that there are no major problems where passengers get injured or worse.
Just heard their new ad to American passengers is come live on the VV for 4 yrs several rooms available, rather take my chances & stay on land
I wonder what separates them from other world cruise residence ships that have sailed or are operating as we speak.
The ship is supposed to sail on September 30th which is tomorrow
I'm looking forward to watching those videos. Unfortunately, it is a lifestyle I cannot do, especially this time in my life, but I will live vicariously through you! Thanks for the update! I'm excited for the next update. :)
We completely understand. Excited for what’s to come! 🥳
Anybody positive about this cruise at this point and posts on YT I am convinced is a shill for this highly sus company.
or simply disillusioned. It has turned into a scam, intentionally or unintentionally. The company has definitely been dishonest, because they repeatedly said they'll be sailing next week/month, knowing there was still loads of problems and loads of regulatory hoops to jump though before they could even think of sailing. And what's the reason for renovations still not completed, they've had all these extra months now to complete them, yet they still are not. Lastly, wasn't this a watered down sea trial, so there are certain countries it's not allowed to sail to, until it's had further trials?
@@farab4391 Disillioned for sure and these guys give advice to people.
Actually it has been attempted before with the same people at the helm and it failed also.
That was when a slimy turkish company owned it. At leaser they know some of the failures. They passed the PSSC. So they are setting a date.
@@lockwood1976 This is in no way to defend the Turkish company, Miray, but to clarify a little that former situation since you brought it up. The current VV CEO is the one who had the vision and the concept for Life At Sea. He is the one who found and chose the Turkish company Miray and their existing ship Gemini to carry out his vision with him. The now VV CEO brought the team in charge of marketing to Miray and sold hundreds of cabins to passengers for the 3 year world cruise on the Gemini. 4-5 months later, and after all these sales to the public, the now VV CEO visited the Gemini for the first time and called it unseaworthy in the international press when he left Miray. That unseaworthy ship is still sailing short Adriatic cruises for Miray. He took his marketing team and a large % of the passengers with him and started his own company, VV, within a couple of months. Miray never recovered from the international bad press and losing so many passengers and never being able to sell to enough more. Miray was a small company with insufficient breadth of management and not capable of carrying out such a huge undertaking and supposedly its backer backed out due to the bad press and loss of passengers and Miray lost the multimillion dollar unrefundable deposit it had put on purchasing a ship from Carnival Cruises. Carnival kept that deposit and resold the ship to another cruise line. The majority of the passengers have not been refunded 9 months later, but Miray continues to operate the Adriatic cruise. The now VV CEO seemingly did not do adequate due diligence when he chose Miray and their ship the Gemini. He then purchased Gemini's sister ship the Braemar (now called Odyssey), a 31 year old ship which had been moored for 4 years and whose certifications had lapsed and maintenance records had been deleted. Again a seemingly critical lack of due diligence during the Purchase Offer process and which has directly led to the months of ongoing delays do to inadequate research and project planning.
@@lockwood1976 It was still headed by the same Mikel Petterson who is CEO of Villa Vie and his wife Kathy. It went bankrupt. The company managing the refit with Villa Vie (H & W) has also just filed bankruptcy on 9-16-24 from a public announcement. I do not wish bad things for these hopeful people but it is pretty obvious this is another failure by the same group soaking $ from believers.
@@lockwood1976Mikel Pettersen and his wife headed that previous attempt also and pulled out right before bankruptcy was declared. That btw was the original sister ship to the Villa Vie and it never passed safe sailing status. The refit company for Villa Vie (H & W) filed public bankruptcy on 9-16-24 with the work unfinished. I do not wish ill for these people but passing one sea test is not enough to get safe sailing status.
Just my opinion.... As far as a 'financial' investment is concerned this one would be the worst kind someone could make. From different sources that I've Googled , the average age at which vessels are scrapped is about 29 years. So Villa Vie at 30 is already running above the average life expectancy of cruise ships. In order to keep this ship sailing just on a five year horizon, the maintenance fees and assessments will no doubt have go up parabolically and sky rocket! You as an owner , like a condominium owner have no real voice in the matter and will just have to pay whatever the bill is for that year. As a practical matter, there are many better ways to enjoy life at sea with six figures plus of disposable income So why not enjoy all of the very many brand new gorgeous ships out there sailing in all of the categories from economy to luxury and which offer many more modern offerings of amenities, technology and personal space compared to what I have seen already on this old ship?
Not true, the Odyssey is the sister ship to the Gemini, which CEO Mike and other Life at Sea Executives, rejected. This being just prior to their bankruptcy. If Gemini was not suitable for residential cruising, then why/how is sister ship Odyssey?
All your Villa Vie videos are going to age like rotten fruit.
So now they are stuck in France, can't get off the ship, don't have hot water, can't do laundry, and are being charged for things that were supposed to be included?
Cant use their onboard credits either
The first time they struck out, this is round # 2.
Actually it's round 3 - first they were with Storylines which has been taking deposits and planning launch dates since 2019 , then they were the vision behind and marketing force for Life At Sea and now they have proven to be the inadequate management team and owners of VV
Awesome!!!
It is an interesting concept. I'm interested to see how people like it.
Agreed! We are interested to see how the community forms on such a unique experience of traveling the world together!
Personally , I think the whole Villa Vie concept is pretty amazing ... I am considering it myself perhaps on their 2nd ship
Just remember that the reason why the price is so affordable is because there are a hardship that you will have to endure that you wouldn’t have to endure if you could afford to buy a cabin on the world
@@BeanieBabyTrader The issues i might find rather quickly is that I am spending a fair amount of money for the purchase of the cabin, then the monthly fees are quite steep ( i think the least expensive is $4k a month) that go on for as long as you own your cabin . How many years can you swing the 4k when retired with no income or limited social security . This fee must be bolstered with the cash you got from the sale of your home . You must consider the time that will take to run out ... Also the cost of airfare to catch the ship in port docked somewhere in the world when you want to go to sea ... and get off to return to your land home . UNLESS the ship is your sole property ..... I am not sure yet if I want to purchase a $169K small bedroom where I have my privacy the open my door and I am in the throng of all the other owners/passengers ..
