I’m certain that most Catholics are forgetting to pray for the poor souls in Purgatory. Keep up the good work.
I'm a cradle Catholic but sadly we never prayed the rosary (I thought it was just for old Mexican grandmas and a scattering of old Mexican grandfathers when someone died), never went to confession, never received Jesus in the Eucharist, etc. I believe my parents did these things when they were younger but at some time stopped. When I was in college/early 20s I began to drift away from my Catholic Faith. I didn't have a hatred for my Catholic Faith, it was more of a drifting away because lack of knowledge and spiritual blindness. Fast forward many years later and I began slowly coming back to my Catholic Faith after going through some really difficult times. After going to mass on a regular basis, praying every day, praying the rosary every day, going to confession on a regular basis, receiving the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ in Eucharist on a regular basis, etc I began getting the urge to pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. Some months/years of praying for them I remembered I used to believe in Purgatory as a little girl. I don't remember why I believed in Purgatory but I remembered that I did. When I started getting older and falling into sin, not going to mass, not going to confession, etc I completely forgot about them. I never became irate at the idea of Purgatory but I became very indifferent. Recently I heard someone say that praying for the Holy Souls in Purgatory is actually a spiritual gift from God. And I believe them. When I was away from the Church/Faith/Sacraments and liiving up to my eyeballs in sin, etc.---I had such a spiritual laziness, a spiritual blindness. It wasn't until I came back to my Faith and the Sacraments and living in a state of grace that the desire to pray for them and have masses offered for them began to resurface in my life. I actually got the desire/urge to pray for them before I even started watching videos on Purgatory. So many Catholics do not go to mass, they don't go to confession, tthey are not in a state of grace. There is so much spiritual blindness and laziness out there.

Thank you Alvaro. I only stared praying since my father passed away. But when my son passed away in December late Sunday early morning Monday 4th 2023. I started praying for the Souls in purgatory.

I always offer my rosary prayers and communion for the souls suffering in purgatory
I try to have masses said for random people that pass away.

In the few short months that I have found your channel and have been cultivating a devotion to the Holy Souls in Purgatory every aspect of my spiritual life has been blossoming! I can’t think of a better way to show charity and to honor Jesus and Mary than to work and pray for the release of the Holy Souls except by complimenting it with sacrificing for the conversion of sinners! I offer each Mass I attend to the souls in Purgatory and each rosary also. At the end of the Fatima prayer of each decade I say "...lead all souls to Heaven esp. those in most need of Your mercy," I add "and the souls in Purgatory" I also add the St. Gertrude prayer, St. Michael prayer, and the Prayer for Souls at the end of each rosary I say. It takes about 3 minutes more which is not a lot of time considering the good these prayers accomplish.
In huge part thanks to you, Alvaro, I am intensely devoted to the souls in Purgatory, however in this case, I feel compelled to offer a gentle critique.
In the book The Golden Arrow (regarding the Holy Face devotion), Jesus said to Sr. Mary of St. Peter that devotion to His Face was the greatest gift he could give to humanity, second only to the sacraments.
Jesus does feel sadness, mortal sadness, when souls reject Him and go to hell (see St. Faustina’s Diary). When we adore and pray the Holy Face devotion prayers, we perform the office of St. Veronica, who wiped His Face on the way of the Cross. Consoling God is even greater than consoling human souls! It is definitely above my pay grade to understand precisely how Jesus is simultaneously in Heaven and genuinely saddened by our sins & offenses, but He is a person, so it does make sense that we can comfort Him with our prayers, just as we can comfort the souls in Purgatory with our prayers.
Again, huge fan of the channel, I’m in the rosary group, and now pray the Stations for the souls thanks to a video of yours, but I felt compelled to share this as the Holy Face devotion has unfortunately been heavily suppressed by the enemy since the 1800s (but is now starting to see a comeback!) Google Holy Face Armada to learn more and keep praying for the Holy Souls too!
Praying and offering for the conversion of sinners seems like a good devotion, since it could help a person be saved who otherwise may have spent an eternity in hell.

Praying for souls in Purgatory is absolutely critical. We should also be praying for conversion of souls on earth. We can also offer devotions to the Immaculate Heart Of Mother Mary and The Sacred Heart Of Jesus in reparations for the offenses committed against them.
I was a deacon and became laicised due to an attack from the devil…. I know this due to my shame and regret for losing the ministry and the potential priesthood I could have lived. Thank you for your honest service

i pray for them daily/ offer my day in prayer for them, I try to remeber to ask Jesus to do verythinh in union with me (except sining of course) and offer my day to the souls in purgatory, sometimes i offer my walk to them..

Great points, Alvaro, and as well as pleasing Jesus, Mary, Michael, the Saints…interceding for the majority of humanity on earth, who are in great danger of hell, in these most evil times in man’s history (said by Jesus to many approved mystics) so they can even make it to Purgatory is most vitally important! Whether by prayers, voluntary sufferings, or Acts united to the Divine Will as taught through Luisa Piccarreta, we have a moral obligation to help our brothers and sisters on earth who are ensnared in the lies of the enemy. As we intercede for the souls in Purgatory, we can ask them to intercede for those we know are willfully living lives that are wounding the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. The enemy wants us to believe he is winning, but if we are paying attention, even satanists are miraculously converting back to God, through apparitions, near death experiences, or just the right thing being said at the right moment. These extra graces are being given to these endangered souls because of the intercessions of the Church Militant. Even if we are not great Saints like St Nicholas of Tormentino, our prayers, united with the Poor Holy Souls can be powerful enough to save a wicked soul from hell, just as St Nicholas did for his brother! when we pray or offer masses to them we help them by repairing their sins so thry go yo heaven quicker because many people dont realize that to spend less time in purgatory we must offer up prayers, masses fasting for reparation of our souls and those of the whole world including the souls in purgatory

Pray the original St. Michael prayer written by St. Pope Pius XIII. Its longer, but wonderful.
I mean... it's a top tier one along with the Devotions to the Sorrowful Mother and The Shoulder Wound of Jesus.
Whose heard of the Flame of Love devotion, Elizabeth Kindleman. Some beautiful promises on releasing souls, I'm a daily communicant, when work allows, and one day of fasting releases a Priest soul as you receive Communion following your fast day. Maybe some of you might enjoy it too...

I think it's more important to pray for the conversion of sinners. The end of purgatory is heaven, while those here who don't repent and reconcile with God, go ti eternal hell.

When I pray for the souls in Purgatory, I often wonder if it might be better to pray for those on earth who are on their way to Hell instead. After all, the souls in Purgatory, despite their suffering, are ultimately saved. In contrast, people on earth who will end up in Hell without our prayers will suffer forever.

Hey, I have a different opinion.
I think one of the best or more powerful devotion would be for the conversions of sinners. I believe Jesus said that it really pleases him in an apparition not if it was the Divine Mercy or Precious Blood. This is also why the Theotokos keeps appearing. It would be the most selfless of all because sinners cant reciprocate it at all they dont even know we pray for their conversion.
I am not saying that devotion is not powerful or good, just not the most powerful as the title implied. I havent read the book though😅. I am so thankful for your ministry though, I started to pray for them thanks to you.

We should aim for heaven. However, because of our sins, I do not know how to go to heaven without going through purgatory.

Effects of the Hours of the Passion.There is not a soul who enters Purgatory without carrying the mark of the Hours of the Passion.
“My daughter, every time the creature fuses herself in Me, she gives the
influence of Divine Life to all creatures; and according to their own needs, the
creatures obtain their effects: those who are weak, feel strength; those who are
obstinate in sin, receive light; those who suffer, receive comfort." Additionally,
these hours influence and accompany all souls that pass through purgatory and
enter heaven, as “there is not a soul who enters purgatory without carrying the
mark of the Hours of the Passion… and there is not a soul who flies into heaven,
without being accompanied by these Hours of the Passion.”
" These Hours are the order of the Universe, they put Heaven and earth in
harmony, and restrain Me from sending the world to ruin. I feel my Blood, my
Wounds, my Love and all I did, being placed in circulation, and they flow over to save all.

Wait I have been working on Marian consecration and devoting myself to the Blessed Virgin to use me as she will and so does that make this prideful and self centered because it is supposed to help just me? What do I do? Can I do both devotions or what? :(
She will crush the head of the serprent. Your devotion to Mary will make you humble, she is using your merits as she wills it could be for a soul in purgatory or conversion of sinners, only God and Mary would know.
St Louis Marie Grignon of Montfort said the devotion he taught is the most perfect (or something along those lines) it is a sure way to holiness becoming holy or desiring to become holy is not vain or prideful, it is just, it is stopping sinning and being closer to God. When you are a saint your prayers will become more efficacious and everyone will benefit including the holy souls in purgatory. Stay with the Holy Virgin, you are in the most powerful hands

Purgatory is a lie. Only heaven and hell
I was raised Catholic but now am a born again Spirit filled Christian. There is not now or never had been a purgatory. It is a lie of Satan. It was something the Catholic church used to be greedy and get money to pray the souls out of purgatory. So many lies have been fabricated in the name of Jesus from this church. Please do yourself a favor and open God's Word for yourself and read. It is all in there very plainly.
You are incorrect. According to many saints I have read the greatest devotion we can have for souls is for the salvation of souls. The second greatest devotion is for the souls in purgatory. While it is extremely important to have devotion to the souls in purgatory for all the reasons you share in your great videos, there is still no comparison between helping a soul out of purgatory and helping Jesus to save a soul from hell! Whenever Mary appears throughout the world her most common request is to pray and offer sacrifices for the conversion of sinners. Jesus said to saint Faustina this is the prayer that pleases him most. In the end, purgatory is temporary, hell is eternal. Nothing greater we can do for a person than help them avoid hell.
Moreover, the greatest end or object or purpose of all devotions must be the glory of God. We are created above all to give glory of God. Loving God is the first and greatest commandment. Loving neighbor is second.
Please do not make such a claim that the "single greatest devotion" surpassing other devotions is devotion to the souls in Purgatory. That's almost if not already blasphemous. Devotion to the Eucharist made St. Paschal Baylon a saint. Saints such as St. Julianna Falconieri, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. John Vianney, St. Teresa of Avila and many others all were devotees of the Holy Eucharist and were totally consumed with God. The Holy Eucharist is JESUS HIMSELF! Your claim puts the souls in Purgatory above God Himself! It should be the other way around - your great devotion to the Holy Eucharist is from where you should draw your devotion for the souls in Purgatory out of charity or love of God of wanting to save not just the Church militant but also the Church Suffering.
Well said. I agree with you, nothing surpasses the glory we owe to God Himself. Veneration to Mary second. Helping save souls third. Souls in purgatory forth. Unfortunately, Alvaro is way off on this one, and should correct himself.
@PioDoria is it I who am way off? Or is it not rather you who do not understand. What is our Lord say, if you love me keep my command, and what does he command his disciples, what is the new commandment? To Love One Another, notice that he does not say love me, rather he command them to love one another. And look at the final judgment, in not one of those ways of judging the sheep, and the goats does he mention love to him. Rather all of them Are measurements of how they loved and relieved the suffering of other people. Why is that? Because at the end of the day, Jesus and mary do not need our love. They don’t benefit from it, it is we benefit by loving them not the other way around. The greatest way that we can love Jesus and Mary is helping those that are suffering, helping those that are suffering the most, helping the souls in purgatory. Until you understand this, then you do not know how to love Jesus and Mary.
Arla for God is measured only by the love that we give other people Jesus mentions this at the final judgment and at the last supper. Read those carefully. Many people say that they love God and then ignore other people thinking that the two are separate rather Jesus makes sure that those are completely united. And the biggest proof of your life for God is what you do to relieve the suffering of other people. Not how much you feel in your heart or how much you believe in your mind. Why is that? Because feelings in your heart and believe in your mind, do nothing to relieve the suffering of other people, it’s only consolation for yourself and self-centered. Nor does it benefit God who needs nothing from us. What he wants is for us to be at the service of others and to relieve their suffering that’s why relieving the suffering of the soul and purgatory, and having devotion to them is what pleases God the most.
@UniquelyMary If there's one thing to learn about the souls in Purgatory, it is that their greatest suffering is SEPARATION FROM GOD! They are purified, not just to pay for their temporal punishment but also to be rid of any vices, impurities, and above all attachments to anything but God. Yes, indeed He commanded, "Love one another" But the first and foremost commandment is: Thou shalt lovethe Lord thy God with all thy heart, soul, mind and body and love God above all things. Thou shalt not have other 'gods' before Me. By 'gods', He means attachment to fame, pride, vices, sin, your spouse, your kids, and yes - your neighbor, which includes the Church suffering. You are to love God above all, and out of that love, you will love your neighbor as yourself, just as he has commanded. It's true, Faith without works is dead. Hence, one needs to constantly examine one's conscience if they truly love God by their will and their works. Agape is not based on feelings it's based on the will and actions. Your commentary does not sound in alignment with Catholic teachings. True, God does not need us nor our love, but He does commands to love Him. It's in our catechism: Why did God create you? To know, TO LOVE, and serve God. We are judged by how much we love God FIRST and out of that abundance of love for Him, we forget ourselves and put others first as a consequence of that love. Saints have modeled this. Martyrs have died for love of God and their faith. I'm not opposed to loving and praying for souls in Purgatory. The greatest way you can love Jesus and Mary IS to love God first and out of love for God. Those good works must flow. Your internal disposition organically manifests in your external disposition.
@UniquelyMary IT has been the long-standing teaching of the Catholic Church, the lives of the saints, manifestos, traditions, etc. that it is your innermost disposition by which your actions will be judged. True, to your point, many say they love God but gossip, slander daily; goes to church every Sunday but mistreats everyone they encounter, lies, cheats, commit all sins in private (but really no sin is committed in private such as your own thoughts) But there are also those whom you see all those good works manifested but devoid of love of God and of humility. The only way to attain true holiness, perfection, and real love of God for which we are all called to do is by detaching from everything and attaching ourselves to God alone. And from that will flow genuine love of neighbor which is pleasing to God and gets you to heaven and gains you merit on earth while alive. To say that devotion to the souls in Purgatory is the greatest surpassing devotion to Jesus Himself is not in line with Catholic teachings. It's your devotion to God Himself first and foremost that should precede devotion to the souls in Purgatory.
The Pope should abolish purgatory, like he did with Limbo.
Unfortunately, he can't because it exists.
