My main problem with the idea of wade and his plot being most of the show, is that when you hear a Knuckles show is releasing you think “oh boy! I can’t wait to see Knuckles fight bad guys” and not “oh boy! I hope that we see Wade play bowling and solve his daddy issues”
As someone that grew up watching Sonic X I'm fine with human characters as long as they're writen well and act as a world building device.
The human characters in the movies have been way better than the human characters were in Sonic X. They actually contribute to the plot and don't include a kid who is a huge Mary Sue. Not counting season 3 of Sonic X of course where most of the humans are absent and Chris actually does things. But I doubt Paramount would adapt that. Right?

@@BlurBlizzard Chris is a rich kid who is completely unrelatable because nobody could realistically be in the situation he's in before Sonic shows up. He has literally everything and isn't just an average kid. He is only less of a Mary Sue during the Metarex Saga, because that saga drops all of that and puts him in a situation where he is on his own and can only rely on Sonic and the others.
I've said this before, but if they had made Chris more like Takato from Digimon Tamers, I bet you we'd have had a fourth and maybe even a fifth season of Sonic X.
@@SBaby that is literally by definition not what a Mary Sue is. The whole point of his character is how unfulfilled his life feels BECAUSE he is rich( I would prefer Helen as the main character tho). He felt neglected, and despite his status, preferred his time at school, because of the social connections with his classmates (before sonic).
Like I said he was uninteresting as I simply just liked the sonic cast. But he was never the main focus or shown to be flawless. And his wealth benefited the cast.
So again, not a Mary sue
@@BlurBlizzard The problem though is nobody cared about him because nobody could relate to him. When you make a character that is insanely rich and he isn't Batman, he's not going to be relatable to anybody, especially when he is also as smart as Tails and does alot of the things that the supporting characters are supposed to do. You know, the things a Mary Sue does.
His problems are all easily resolved in one episode, to the point where even Cream can solve them without fighting a big bad. It's very obvious that Chris is a self-insert character. And because nobody can relate to him, nobody cares about him. And when the story centers around him, nobody cares about the story. It's as simple as that.
And that's the reason that the human characters in the movies are way better than they are in Sonic X, and will always be better. Because they ARE average people and can be more easily related to. Love them or hate them, they are generally well received by moviegoers.
Let's compare that to Matt and TK from Digimon. They are brothers that care about one another alot, but their parents are divorced and they ended up in a worst-case scenario for siblings to end up in where each parent got custody of one of them. So they're split up except for holidays.
Matt is overprotective of TK, because he is the older brother and they're thrown into a situation where he feels like he has to be a mother hen to TK. But then they're separated and you see Matt lose it because he doesn't want anything to happen to TK.
Why is this important? Because later in the series, his character develops to the point where he's not afraid of being separate from TK anymore, because he knows his younger brother CAN take care of himself.
And this change happens gradually over the course of the show's run, not abruptly in the last two episodes of the season.
I'm pretty sure Sonic 3 going to have less humans, that we they make that.

Then you'll be waiting forever, as the Year of Shadow was 2001. That was 23 years ago. As far as I'm concerned, 2024 is the Year of Knuckles, NOT Shadow. In my opinion, Shadow was only good in Sonic Adventure 2 and should have stayed dead at the end of Sonic Adventure 2. Also, I will watch this Knuckles show but only for free online and with the lowest of low expectations.

To be honest with you, the human parts of the Sonic movies don’t even barely bother me. I still love the films so I will probably love the show too! All that matters is just enjoy the show or movie
Sounds about what most people expected. I never expected a super anthro-heavy show for this style of filming. That's more easily done in an entirely animated style. I would love for them to plop down the cash for a show done in the style of the Sonic Frontiers prequel animations. Something like that is where you'd be able to focus exclusively on the game characters.

I really don't get why people are mad about something as small as this. We've already seen humans alongside sonic way before the sonic movies even existed. Sonic 06, shadow the hedgehog, and even sonic x are other examples. Besides, eggman himself is a human, and they already have other human characters being introduced that are really important like maria, and possibly even gerald. So having characters like tom or wade alongside sonic characters isn't the worst thing in the world.
Now, I'll admit, when I first heard knuckles was getting his own spinoff series, I originally thought it was gonna revolve around his past as an ekidna warrior and the ekidna tribe many, many years ago. So when I heard it was gonna be about knuckles training wade, i was like "WHAT???" But I really don't think wade is taking any attention from knuckles himself. From what i've seen so far, knuckles gets tons of screen time and tons of really cool scenes.
Since 2020, paramount has been doing everything they can to make us sonic fans happy. They redesigned sonic after all the hate for ugly sonic, and even got keanu reeves to voice shadow for sonic 3 (Even if it's not officially confirmed from them yet. But we know it's happening). People seriously need to stop overexaggerating about something as small as this. You get what you get and you don't get upset.

Honestly this has been the Premise of the Movie Franchise since the beginning so it's kinda pointless to keep complaining about it now, live action Sonic in the Human world so I accepted this is how it goes a long time ago, I know some fans keep wishing it will slowly break away from it but it ain't gonna happen, and I actually love Tom & Maddie, heck even Rachel is funny, and I've had a soft spot for Wade so I'm glad he's getting a chance to shine more. As long as Knuckles is still prominent enough I'm here to have a good time watching this, I'm sure it'll be heartwarming and hilarious!
Most Sonic fans are going to enjoy the show. The entire plot of the show is Knuckles teaching Wade so of course the show is going to focus on Wade. Knuckles will get enough screen time and it will be a funny show so I am very excited for the show.

More human time means less animator work and thus less of a crazy high budget. (I typed this just as u explained that😂) so its not too suprising really.

Your not the only person, I thought it was cringe. They should have focused more on tails because tails did not get enough screen time and it’s supposed to be an homage to his introduction. They just had him get knocked out for most of that scene
critics are NOT ALWAYS WRONG. its just that critics are required to watch a crap ton of movies as their job. they consume so many stories and media that something which is barely noticeable to us, stands out like a sore thumb to them. they are people. yes there are trash critics, but not all of them are that way

Critics are almost always having the complete opposite opinion of fans tbh. Or if they do share a similar opinion. They're IGN and they Clown on themselves because they do something stupid. Like them saying spiderman 2 was better than the first game but gave it a lower score than the first game. Critics are genuinely just bad tbh. Like they're out of touch and almost always have bad takes. Point being you should never base your opinion on something off of a critic. Their job is to be critical. It's in the name. Their job isn't to tell you if something is good or bad their job is to find flaws and point them out and given overall score. Their job is kind of to be cynical. Not to mention that the critic score on the first two Sonic movies were in the 50% range or lowe. and the audience score was 98% on the second movie. And in the high 90s in the first movie. Clearly critics and Sonic fans always have differing opinions. And critics in general usually have stupid takes. Another film example would be the five nights at Freddy's movie. It had a critic score of like 30%. Meanwhile the audience score was like hi 80s to 90. The fans loved it and the people watching it love it. But the critics hate it. That's kind of always been the case for Sonic. Until recent years were IGN actually took down most of their sonic reviews and redid them because they never even finished the games. Like Sonic unleashed for example went from like a 40%. To now in 83 I believe. Clearly critics have some controversies and some issues.
Remember when critics criticized Sonic 2 for not having enough humans interaction? Remember when critics praised Sonic Prime and gave it positive reviews? Remember when Ricardo said "don't worry guys, I promise, the end if Sonic Prime will pay off, all those cringe out of character moments will come together in the end" and then the ending was just as anticlimactic as the entire series?

The inconsistencies of reviewers is not uncommon. The 2014 Godzilla had minimal muto scenes, and more human beings observing the phenomenon, when king of the monsters came out, it had more muto fights and action, and reviewers complained too much monsters fighting, not enough human characters development. It’s like make up your mind people.

I'm still totally fine with watching the Knuckles show this reveal doesn't bother me much. I understand that having the titular CGI character in it more would be expencive, it makes sense. The fans who aren't me, should just forgive Paramount for this because that studio may have been just trying to save the high budget that could have been used on this show if it was that studio's only focus, for their attempt to make the Sonic 3 movie be satisfiying enough to meet a big amount of fan expectations so that it can have a better chance at becoming the cinematic masterpiece that we all very much hope that it will be released as.

I understand they are complaining that Wade is more focus, not Knuckles, but the show is all about Knuckles, at the end of the day. The title of the show is called "Knuckles", afterall. So they shouldn't jump and hate this show, and I am still going to watch the Knuckles series.

Having watched as much of Sonic X as I have, *DO NOT* bitch to me about bland or annoying human characters taking up space in the movie series or any other Sonic project. I'll take Wade and the Wachowskis over Chris Thorndyke any day of the week.
I know I've said this on other channels, but wouldn't it be some shit if Paramount (or whoever ends up owning Paramount) somehow managed to secure the movie rights to the Metarex Saga and adapt it?

I don't think the anger is unreasonable. Since it's not really anger at the show, it's anger at Paramount for making the same mistakes despite years of feedback and financial support. You can only take "it will be better next time" so many times before things fall apart.
Given the state of "professional" criticism, I highly doubt *at least a few* of these people are actually "fans" of the source material.

This isn't a technology issue, it's a "big Hollywood studios are stupid, and don't know how to make the most of what they have" issue.
You give this project to a studio like Corridor Crew, it would look as good or better and have _no_ humans whatsoever.
So it's not a matter of "it _can't_ be done", it's a matter of "someone (be it a creative choice or a studio mandate) didn't _want_ it done".
Far more likely is that the producers are either dealing with the consequences of earlier decisions, i.e. they established the Mobians (for lack of a better name) as living in a dominantly human world, so now they have to roll with that and either maintain that or gradually phase out the human characters (I'd personally do the latter, but as long as the story they tell is still good I can live with the former); or they have a broader story in mind that keeping Sonic & co. on Earth benefits in some way.
All that being said, the show still looks like it's gonna be hilarious and the producers have earned enough of my trust to take the show on its own terms rather than compare it to what I would've done (because frankly, I think every one of us have different ideas of what _we_ would've done; kinda comes with the territory of being a fan).
While I want to agree with your point, here's some insight:
It's not that CGI is expensive, it's that the animators demand very high pay to do good effects.
Look at Godzilla: Minus One that's a movie with good CGI in a total budget of 15 million dollars, where as Disney's The Marvels "Needed" 200 million to be made. Now not all of this is going to animators, there is actors, writers, directors, executives, promotion/advertisements, etc. That's part of the overall, but American animators demand so high a price to be paid, just like overpaid actors. And in some way, while you do need to negotiate a good budget, you also need good management of that budget, and the means cutting what is unnecessary.
Basically, it's not a tech issue, or even people don't want it done issue, it's a too demanding in being paid issue, or too much bloat issue. Hire less unnecessary people, hire only necessary (and hopefully better priced) people, and properly push the numbers of dough in the right direction, and you can get more money out of a film made cheap yet well made with passion, and you won't have to make as high of numbers at the box office to be considered a financial success.
That's how Godzilla Minus One made huge bank, cheap yet effectively made with love, and the fans paid tthem more than they spent to see it in droves.
However in this case that's more on topic, have cheaper actors, sets, directors, and maybe slightly cheaper animators, but keep the money on good writers and put more budget towards animations, and you could get more CGI characters and scenes with them.
I don't mind human characters if they're entertaining. I enjoy Wade, I think he's a fun character so I'm looking forward to the show

pretty much this "we don't even frigging know what we want" thing from the critics is the reason why i watch things myself and not trust critics unles is really REALLY bad. Fans shouldn't jump instantly at any critic review,watch it,if it sucks well too bad,but don't insult the frigging actor of Wade like some are doing,calling him the r-word,if it is good you got overangered for nothing.
And to be fair,also the most negative reviews of it (apart the tragic ones from clickbaity sites/youtubers) all say is still a worthy show ,so for sure it doesn't suck,which is a plus.

Yeah, I'm with Sam Procrastinates, Games Cage and many others with a more critical eye on this one.
Wade having more screentime and a bigger leading presence that Knuckles isn't a good thing. The show is titled Knuckles and he's leading in the marketing which heavily implies that he would be leading this show. This show wasn't marketed as Wade leading the story and having humans isn't a issue. The issue is Paramount lying boldly in the marketing and more to bamboozle everyone with a Wade show. They should've never done a CGI show in the first place if they couldn't afford to have Knuckles lead the show just animated it instead.
I like the human characters. Sonic is on Earth so it's only natural. We can always watch Sonic Prime for 100% cartoon characters anyway.
Tom and Maddie as a amazing role in the sonic verse but if Wade could try to be a warrior people would love him

I accept that financially, it's not really possible to fill this series with a bunch of highly-detailed CGI characters, but I'm not convinced it's cost-prohibitive to use the ones they already have more than they do. It should also have been easy to make a show that was just Knuckles in the human world because so much of the appeal to his character is he's not familiar with it, and hilarity ensues. That might not be the most visually interesting or fanservice-loaded way to do these things, but for people who came to love the movie version of Knuckles, it's still an appropriate route for a TV series starring him.

1. The show hasn’t even come out yet…so why the fresh hell are they hating on something we haven’t even seen yet?
2. Don’t trust the critics, they have no idea what they’re even saying anymore.
3. This show is supposed to be Knuckles training Wade to be a warrior like him, so of course the screen time is going to be spilt between them and not be heavily on Knuckles himself.

Very good input, but respectfully, I must remind you and seemingly many others that this is a multi billionare company we are talking about. Needless to say, it being "too expensive" to focus on Knuckles is a non issue. Simply put, they have the money; they just made a bad call for whatever reason. Even if you wanted to ignore that, the simple fact of the matter is that they focused on Sonic in the Sonic movie(s). If you want to ignore THAT, I'd direct you to the Marvel live action shows - regardless if you like them or not, they are prime examples of using "movie" levels of money to make very profitable (and preferable) product.

I think the biggest issue is that this show completely misleaded everything. The trailer, poster, and even the title clearly state that Knuckles is who we’re here to see, not some jackass who is meant to be a NPC and so happens to be a main character. Even the last few episodes, when Wade is taking over 92% focus of the episode, Knuckles is just laying in his hotel doing nothing, or talking to guy dressed like a mascot at a bar… it’s like the series couldn’t give him anything to do in his own show. It’s like that new Godzilla x Kong movie where Godzilla had very little screentime compared to the rest of the monsters and even human characters… despite his name is the foreground of the title. Why does Hollywood do this shit??
Here's the thing though they said in the synopsis of the show that this was about Knuckles AND Wade. They didn't mislead anything.
I just got done watching it and I absolutely loved it the friendship between knuckles and wade was hilarious and sweet knuckles helped wade grow brave and a warrior and yes knuckles wasn’t in it everywhere but it’s definitely a show I’m excited for a second season and that final battle at the end was so badass and the soundtrack is 🔥🔥🔥💯
Sonic fans literally cannot be pleased so it's to be expected at this point. I can't wait for them to find something to me mad about movie 3

Seriously why does this TV show deserve that much hate when it's not even release!? Paramount just put a lot of effort in work to make the Sonic franchise not be as a mistake from last time from 2019 and this is the respect they deserve?!

Personally, the show was entertaining, but also a little disappointing. I do like the jokes, and the way some of the characters are written (with the exception of Wade's sister and Pistol Pete (acted like a really cartoony person like Wade's sister)), but I do feel they could've fleshed Knuckles out a bit better, and told more of his history through *his* eyes, and I feel like the last episode was rather rushed. The main antagonist was also not particularly well fleshed out. So I thought it was good, but could've been better.
Winning cures everything and for this show to win the writing and the comedy has to deliver. If this is more of wade show featuring knuckles that’s not ideal but if it’s funny it can be forgiven more easily. My main complaint in the lead up to it is black arms being weapons dealers rather then the aliens they are. I thought we where beyond that at this point in the sonic universe

I know what you're referring to & I really hope Paramount didn't ERASE Shadow's Black Arms Heritage (That'd be the WORST Part of the show to me if that's the case.). I actually really like all the Story Potential that Aspect of Shadow provides.

I can’t understand why people are complaining about Knuckles’s low involvement in this series. He’s literally the Master Yoda of this show. You can’t always have him there. You gotta let Wade sometimes shine who is basically the Luke Skywalker of this show as well

@@bilalrashad6636 if we wanna be nitpicky then Dragon Balls then should be Called Goku & Vegeta Show,because in most arcs the dragon balls aren't even the main focus anymore. Getting from all the reviews,the most relieable say that Wade "centric" episode is the 4 and the third one,meanwhile 1,2 and 5 and 6 seem to have Knuckles centric or well balanced screentime. One of the wade centric episode could be due to Knuckles being captured like we saw in the released screens too.

Personally, I suggest that people should watch the Knuckles show and then make their review, not automatically agree with a review website.
I don't know about everyone else, but I especially enjoined the scene in the 2nd movie of Rachel being angry at Randall. My mom and I laugh at it every time, and it's personally one of my favorite scenes. The only scene I was really upset about was that they used Uptown Funk for the dance scene. It's such an overused song in movies. But I'm really excited about the show despite the reviews. I'm the kind of person who disregards reviews and watches to form my own opinions.
Does anybody know where I could watch the show when it does release? Because I'm not gonna get a Paramount+ subscription just to watch it.
For human characters in Sonic its always been more of a mixed bag. Unlike some others, I have no problem with them being involved (we've seen them in the games and it makes for interesting dynamics). Its just how its utilized. However, I think when people hear of humans in Sonic, they immediately think of Chris Thorndyke or Elise. They can be written good. I mean we already have Eggman, Maria, Gerald, the President, etc.
I wouldn't worry too much about Sonic fans though. They'll change their minds on what they want in a week or so, because that's what the Sonic fanbase does.
Look we must vote good for knuckles in audience score in rotten tomatoes, and good ratungs on IMDB.

Its sucks when it costs money to use a CGI character, if anything we should be mad about is the budget, I hope they make the budget to use more CGI characters like the Chaotix in a possible season 2.

The show was ok there was unnecessary filler and knuckles himself not having enough screen time but other than that, it’s not bad

Tell them to watch beetlejuice a classic movie much loved where the main title character isn’t in it very long at all. but when on screen was memorable, that’s the thing if you force you hero on screen for long times with the storyline not working like that it won’t be good…
