That implies that they had any chance at success whatsoever. Bautista's regime was horrifically violent and forced most Cubans to toil away on sugar plantations owned by foreign investors. In the first few years after the revolution, most of the Cuban expats were people or families who directly profited from the dictatorship and the plantations, so why would the people they oppessed less than 5 years ago help them regain power?
One thing I don't get is the CIA asked the Cuban exiles if there would be widespread disobedience among the Cubans if there was an invasion against Castro and the answer the top of the CIA got (I don't know what went on at the lower levels) was "yeah, Castro is a commie tyrant no one wants, but if you ask anyone in Cuba they will have to say they like the revolution because they're afraid." So with this "intel" it was reasonable to assume that even if the initial invasion was a clusterfuck, civil disobedience would cause the Castro regime to fall apart, just wait 7 days. Obviously the CIA completely misread the public sentiment in Cuba. Given what they thought the public in Cuba thought, it seemed even a half baked invasion would work and _if that given is true_ I agree with that sentiment. What I don't understand is that the CIA had thousands of Cuban exiles to interview and somehow not one guy was able to figure out what the Cuban public thought?
So what I'm getting from this is either go 100% deniable with nothing to tie you to the action, or go all in supporting the rebellion. The half measures are the worst of both worlds.
And a corollary to that; don't run operations like this without the full informed commitment of your own government. Because a substantial part of this fiasco was from Kennedy going "you're doing what? I didn't agree to that!", and pulling support...
I think there's a Bible passage that references this: "But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!" Revelations 3:16 To fully commit to one path or the other because half measures and equivocation often unsuitable.

I honestly didn't know the operation was this complex with Airpower and naval support from the USA in school they explain it like the rebels just landed on the beach but were ambushed because Castro had received inside info from the USSR
Indeed. I was always left with the impression that they barely got ashore before they were annihilated by pro-Castro forces which were waiting for them. It turns out they did manage to establish deep beachheads before it went south. I learned something new.

@@robertoroberto9798damn, I guess the Korean people having to overthrow their own dictator, followed by 2 decades of instability until final liberalisation was nothing and it was all thanks to America and the CIA. It’s not “America bad”, but interventions are always messy and it’s better to be honest about reality than being fooled by the official story tellers who downplay stories that don’t support their narrative. Never forget that ISIS was contained and crippled after Timber Sycamore was stopped. Blindly trusting the suits in Washington is foolish.
Not our government's finest moment. I can't imagine what it felt like to be on the beach, believing that supply and air support necessary for victory would always be there, only to find that they were abandoned in their hour of need. Or that the military sitting just offshore could only sit in vain as orders for them to assist the people dying on the beach never came.
It's not our government's fault overall, but rather just a big blunder by the CIA. Kennedy's hesitancy to approve air support and active resupply for the exiles is understandable as plausible deniability was probably the best move for the United States diplomatically. However, the CIA fumbled the ball big time by not only faulty intelligence but giving false hopes to the exiles in direct contrast with the U.S governments' official position. Even if their intel was right and the Cuban people would've risen up against Castro, Kennedy not providing any sort of active support to the exiles should've been enough for the CIA to call off the operation. Instead, the CIA just lied to them.
The same body that took down a legitimate democracy because a banana company told them to and the same body that said deadly weapons were in the Middle East.
Of course it's not our government's finest moment. It was just one of many attempts by us as the imperialist world hegemon throughout the second half of the 20th century to impose its will on people who dare to chart a different path than them.
My god, either cancel the operation or give them the support you promised them. Just sent people off to die for absolutely no reason. Sending people out to fight for you and leaving them with zero support is one of the most scummy things you can do IMO🤦♂️

Excellent video, as usual. In case anybody was wondering what happened to Pepe San Roman, here is an excerpt from Wikipedia: “After the brigade had ceased fighting on 19 April 1961, the third day of the Bay of Pigs Invasion, San Román and his men scattered into the woods and swamps. He was captured by Cuban militia on 25 April 1961. Román was sentenced to 30 years in prison in a mass trial for treason, along with everyone else who was captured. He was released from prison and flown to Miami on 24 December 1962. On 29 December 1962, Pepe San Román was on stage next to the 35th US president, John F. Kennedy, at the Orange Bowl in Miami during the homecoming ceremony for captured Brigade 2506 veterans. The other leaders of the Brigade also on stage at the occasion were José Miró Cardona and Manuel Artime. Pepe Perez San Román committed suicide by taking an overdose in Miami, Florida, on 10 September 1989. He was survived by two sons, Alfredo and Robert; two daughters, Marisela and Sandra; a brother, Roberto Pérez San Roman, a sister, Laly de la Cruz, and five grandchildren.”
I find it absolutely unacceptable that history videos that serve to educate people about real events get demonetized, but how to shaving your butt doesn’t
Considering that they were literally committing treason on behalf of a Foreign Occupier; the Anti-Castro Fighters were treated pretty well, by Cuba, as POW's. And they must have known that, before they surrendered, in mass. Even though they are the sworn enemy of the United States; The Cubans have always struck me, as kind-of cool
Of course, the _reason_ they were sworn enemies of the US was that US pulled stunts like this. The aggressively anti-communist attitude of the US during this period did far more to cement Soviet influence over worldwide communist groups than anything the Soviets did...

Never forget that ISIS was contained and crippled after Timber Sycamore was stopped. Blindly trusting the suits in Washington is foolish.
Great vid as always!
I hate to brake it to you but the CIA is a part of the American government. So yeah it’s a government failure. Poor intelligence, poor planning
Of course it's not our government's finest moment. It was just one of many attempts by us as the imperialist world hegemon throughout the second half of the 20th century to impose its will on people who dare to chart a different path than them.
Do something on the Korean way maybe! like the battle of the Imjin river! love the videos, always watch the latest uploads
My god, either cancel the operation or give them the support you promised them. Just sent people off to die for absolutely no reason. Sending people out to fight for you and leaving them with zero support is one of the most scummy things you can do IMO🤦♂️
Tell that to the Ukrainians!
@ they are literally being invaded what do you mean. Not like they can cancel it or just go home
@@CocoCrispy_ Do some research and not be spoon fed your information.
Question: Where was Ukraines Army on 20 February 2022?
Answer: Formed up on the Donbass Border planning to invade.
THATS why Vlad went in.
Now it might make some sense!
@@CocoCrispy_sure they can
@@CAPDude44 yeah sure and give up their country to the Russians outta all people. No thanks
Excellent explanation of the operations!
Many thanks for covering this oft-overlooked operation, and for all the great content this channel has in general! 😁👍
I find it absolutely unacceptable that history videos that serve to educate people about real events get demonetized, but how to shaving your butt doesn’t
You are getting better and better! Congratulations!!!
Thanks!
I very much enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
RIP
To the 118 Brigade 2506 forces (ten executed), four American airmen, and 176 Cuban forces who were killed in the Bay of Pigs Invasion
And what of the Patriots defending their Country?
''There are no so blind . . . . . . .!
Balls
You left the two US Navy ships that were destroyed by Cuban forces out of your animated film, I think you should expand your sources.
Yall have been hitting it out of the park with your content! Keep it up!
Great, informative and compelling as usual👍
Im watching this while i poop
We’re pooping brothers, mines liquid

I had to stop another morning ritual as soon as I saw an upload.
