Darius Med I honestly do think Mac is the best program. It’s progressive and seems to be very adaptable to students’ specific needs, lifestyles, and learning styles. That’s pretty huge, and I think certainly sets it apart as a program. The other programs are great and, as you say, Ontario is blessed. I just think Mac is better because of a well rounded input and output. However, I’m sure that it is based on learning style as well, and someone looking for more lecture and structure rather than PBL may thrive more in a more traditional program. Great vid as always! Thanks for all your effort!
The one with you, because you are an incredible individual, don't know how you got on my suggestion list, but I'm telling my son to follow you. Your parents did an incredible job raising you.
This is so informative. As someone going non traditional Enrolled in a Psychology Undergrad at age 26 with the plan at the end to pursue Med School. This is inspiring to see people have taken this path.
hi ... can u please make a video on career options after medical schools in canada other than residency programme ... plz include non clinical options also
Hi Darius, thank you for your video! it's cool how so many have nontraditional routes to medicine. Could you please make a video about it? Like for people who have degrees in English, Art, Engineering or Theology. PLEASE IT WILL BE SUPER HELPFUL!
No thank you for watching and commenting :) I put quite a bit of effort into these videos and it really makes me happy when it helps people such as yourself!
I definitely can see all the love and hard work you put into this awesome channel! You are 100% a huge part of why I’ll never give up on my dream. Some day I’ll be a doctor. It’s just a matter of time and some baby steps. I’m starting with a paramedic degree in college to see how I do with grades there, then moving on to trying out a pre med undergrad program like biochemistry! Sure hope I can get a high enough gpa to get into med school! I’ve never wanted anything more. I’ve spent a lot of time feeling insignificant or not smart enough just because I didn’t do well in high school. I’m realizing now that I love love love biology and if I put the dedication in I can do anything. Sorry for the long comment!
Hey Darius, have you heard about the new Integrated Biomedical Engineering and Health Science program? If yes, what are your insights on it and is it a good Med School prep, or is Life Science a better choice. Thanks, good luck with your future studies:)
Hey, is that program called IBio Med? If so, I have heard good things about the program but also that it is challenging. I think there are 2 streams if its the one I'm thinking about and I think one of the streams (the health sci one) is the better one for medical school. I would honestly pick the one you think you'd be more interested in, because as long as you take the prerequisites, you can get in from any program.
Hey Darius, I was wondering if I could reach out to you and ask you questions about the application process? I have SO MANY and I’m so nervous and you know so much going through it, It’d be awesome to get to ask you some Qs :)
Of course! If you feel comfortable, you can ask them here as many others likely have similar questions. I was also thinking of implementing a Q&A during each vlog I have so maybe I'll include one of your questions during it. If its more personal, message me on instagram @dariuslameire . All the best!
Hii..Great content. Can you make a video on how international student can get into med schools? Also, what should one do to build profile so as to get scholarship in undergrad.
I have a whole video I did on the MCAT, you can find that here: ua-cam.com/video/Ub3pXfEXAcA/v-deo.html I think giving your self a minimum of 3 months for the whole MCAT is necessary. If you've forgotten most of it, I would give yourself another 2-3 weeks just to focus solely on those subjects. Lots to cover.
Hi Darius, it's really very beneficial video, I don't have any medical background and would like to apply for medical school. I have Bachelor in computer science and Master in business administration, so what is the process to apply for medical school in details if you please. Thank you!
Hello there! It really depends where you want to apply. In Ontario Canada you need to apply through OMSAS which is the portal for medical school applications in Ontario. If there are schools in the United States, you need to apply through AMCAS. The other schools in Canada have their own application programs you just may need to google the specific school. Good luck!
are there certain classes I should take in high school? if for example I didn’t take physics, will that be an issue when I have to take physics for pre med?
I didn't take biology in high school and ended up doing a biochemistry degree. You should be fine, just be sure to take first year physics especially if you're interested in applying to the US.
Would you say biomedical engineering is not a good major for med school? Also, is an u dergrad in Life Science from UofT a bad decision for med school?
I can try a reach out and see what she thinks. I remember talking with her a bit more about it and she really seemed to enjoy it and like that it was direct entry (if I'm remembering correctly) into medical school!
micheal most people that get in went to private high schools have multiple research published and some even have apps that they made. As well as a long list of extra curricular. Lol not easy for normal ppl
As long as you make sure to keep your GPA up and make sure to do the prerequisite courses, you should be fine! Consider preparing for the MCAT a little earlier in case you won't have as strong of a basic science background in psych. All the best!
Megha Jain if you already have done MBBS then MCAT is not required , instead you have to give USMLE for the states similarly PLAB MCAT is only for the ones on the bachelor level
First year tuition was somewhere close to $30,000 for canadian citizens. I believe it is around $100,000 per year for international students. The good thing is that it is only 3 years.
@@DariusMed like some unis asks you to complete one year of biology with lab and one year of organic chemistry as prerequisite courses before applying to med school, so i was wondering whether she has done that.
So sorry for the late response, these comments sometimes get burried. But it really depends. At McMaster they don't have any specific prerequisite classes BUT I also applied to many schools (especially in the states) where they did require specific classes. It all depends on the program and it's best to look on their application pages to see what they need.
have any body with common since blame the doctors with there million dollar homes for these out of control hospital bills? most doctors make $100 a minute, and they just want more , doctors used to take a oath to help people now they take the oath for money .if you ask medical school students why they want to be a doctor? the truth will be money

Great vid! How much online lectures do you guys have compared to in-class lectures?
They're all in class lectures, but thankfully they are all podcasted so you can watch them whenever you need!

😂5:51 “mandatory”
Hey
I got a 3.95 gpa from mc gill as undergraduate.
Do you think I can give a shot at mc master?
I did not did research but shadowed doctors.
Yeah I think it would be worth applying! They look at GPA, CASPER, and CARS (from the MCAT), so research isn't a part of the application.
So great Thanks! :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you!
Can you tell me please,,,which subject do i need for garuate,,, to get into med University
It really depends on the med school program.
what strategy did you follow studying for the mcat? How long would you say you need to study if you've forgotten most of biochm/ochem materials?
I have a whole video I did on the MCAT, you can find that here: ua-cam.com/video/Ub3pXfEXAcA/v-deo.html I think giving your self a minimum of 3 months for the whole MCAT is necessary. Is doing an undergrad in biomedical science a good choice on the path to medicine?
Yeah I would imagine so. As long as you get the pre-req's in, any undergrad tends to work.

I really wanna do an undergrad in psychology (science) but I’m scared it won’t look good on a med school application...

Darius Med thanks! I might do a minor in neuroscience or biology but idk yet
C can’t go wrong with either of those programs :)
So how many majors do i have to study for pre-med or mcat test???pls ans😥
How many majors? Like as in subjects?
I think you forgot about McGill?
Hey! In this video I focused primarily on Ontario schools but if I'm ever in Montreal I'll consider interviewing McGill!
Darius Med That’s wonderful! Thanks!
The western guy is a go getter
I have medical graduate degree Mbbs. Is mcat useful for post graduation???
MCAT is only really useful if you want to get into a medical school that requires it. Really just depends what you want to do.

@@Somyya_ thanks

which medical schools accept nursing bachelors ? if uk please answer
Hey, sorry but I'm not entirely sure. I would assume most would if you have the pre-reqs.
Tell me more info. about fees ...?
what did you do your bachelors in and from where? :)
I did my bachelors in biochemistry at McMaster University :)
@@DariusMed Were you in life sci or health sci?
I'm shocked that you only need 60% to pass!
Me too
Me too, but don’t be fooled tho, with the massive amount of content, to get a 60% is still a struggle on its own😷
How much is your 1st year tuition at McMaster's?
First year tuition was somewhere close to $30,000 for canadian citizens. I believe it is around $100,000 per year for international students. The good thing is that it is only 3 years.
That's really good. Do you have any idea if OSAP is applicable to med students?
Can you please ask the person who did gender studies, how did she complete the prerequisites science program? T_T
