    Thank you so much for the support here in the comments. You are all wonderful, and I'll keep you in mind during recovery!
    And as I mentioned in the video, I do have footage for a couple more videos. If I'm feeling up to it, I might sneak one or two up in December, we'll see. Just so many projects I wanted to share, but of course health and family come first!
    I'll probably post first on Twitter after the surgery, so check in there to see how I'm doing! (I'm geerlingguy on Twitter).

    Thank you for being so open about your health issues, even one as "embarrassing" as Crohn's. • @soundguydon

      @@JeffGeerling Funny thing is that I'm overweight moreso now than when I was diagnosed with Crohns. I'm unable to exercise like I used to (joint pain, gut pain, etc.) and much of what I eat just passes through (heh), so I haven't a clue why I've gained. I *assume* it's a combination of the infusions and my more sedentary lifestyle in the last few years. Frustrating to be sure!
      Did you know that years ago they wouldn't even test for Crohns if you were overweight?

    • @JeffGeerling
      @JeffGeerling  Рік тому +15

      @@soundguydon It's amazing how things have changed even in my short time (about 20 years) having Crohn's. Not only the treatments, but also the awareness and the number of GIs who are more competent at helping patients manage disease.
      When I was first diagnosed I almost was sent off to surgery right away, but luckily they found a few different drugs that were just introduced that helped pretty much immediately (after Remicade stopped working).
      I'm still holding out hope there is a cure someday!

    I'm just glad it wasn't another "i'm leaving forever" video. Always hard around this time of year. Best of luck! I just found out that a thin client can be used as a replacement RPI for a lot of media room tasks, so, guess who is going to set up soooooo many alerts for thin clients he sees 'brand new in box' for half the price because they don't have 'power adapters' when they run over POE.
    Have a great holiday, even though most of it is going to be zonked out most likely.

    Jeff. I sincerely hope, as everyone in the comments, for your quick recovery. I think your videos are inspiring not just for the educational side of things. But also for your approach to life and problem solving. We do need more of your positive energy and humor in our IT industry. Please be well and keep us posted!

    Jeff! One of my best friends has Crohn's. Years ago he had a good chunk of intestines removed. We he finally had recovered enough to eat semi solid food we had "Happy Oatmeal Day" for him. We all ate oatmeal in celebration and sent him the pics of it. Take care of yourself first, and may you have a good recovery. We'll be here when you get back.
