You don't have to shout or threaten them, even a simple, assertive greeting like "Hey," can do the trick. The idea is to mess with their headspace. Think about it: if you're actively stalking someone with the intent of mugging or assaulting them, they're likely very much in their head about the whole thing, with tunnel vision and all. By turning the tables and acknowledging them, it's an unexpected transition of the ball to their court and can be surprising, possibly even disruptive. At the very least, you can gauge their reaction that follows to determine the best reaction to follow.

i enjoyed this video it does cover alot of basic self defense things but a couple other ones is if your wearing a shoe with some kind of pointed heal stomping on the top of the foot can distract an attacker and also when it comes to the knee of you hit the inside of the knee with enough force you can bring an attacker down long enough to get away another one is if you are being choked from the front if you cant reach the face of the attacker or get a good angle to kick them in the groin as mentioned you can bring your fist down into the crook of the elbow to get it to bend to give you the distance you need also basic pressure point knowledge will help tremendously.

Something this video didn’t go over is how to get out of a choke hold. What you want to do is try to get your hands between your attacker’s arm and your neck, try to dig your nails in too, after that try to pull the arm away from your neck and try to tuck your chin to the inside of said attackers arm, this gives you room to breathe. I may have this a little wrong, but my dad has taught me a lot of hand-to-hand combat because he was a instructor in the Army so I have a pretty hot idea.

There is a reason why they call guns the great equalizer. but if you do not want a gun or you can get one train in the martial art that fits your individual needs. if you do not train you will more then likely not remember watching this. it needs to be instinct or muscle memory. intense situation your motor functions can be compromised. look at soldiers in combat a lot of then will talk about freezing and they are trained. so how do you think you will react better without training? things like this are only good when you can do or remember then. outside of that, all they do is give you a false sense of security. In my eyes that is wrong and pointless.
okay, now let's say you get grabbed from behind. you go to pull your gun from wherever you keep it on your person (let's say hip). the person who grabbed you moves to restrain that arm, maybe not yet realizing you have gun, to get you to stop moving. now the attacker has control of your arm if not the gun itself and you're unlikely to get a shot at them. shooting randomly can have mixed effects. it might scare them into running, or it might draw their attention to your weapon, in the hand they have control of. from this position of dominance they force the gun from your hand. now they can claim your weapon for their own and you're worse off than you started. In a straight confrontation, a gun can give you an advantage. but if you're taken by surprise it means nothing and can even be turned against you.
Nah fam in my country it's illegal to use a gun on the perpetrator if the perpetrator is using less than a gun, let's say, a knife for example. You must always use something to defend yourself that is less than the attacker is using. I remember a case in which someone broke into someone's house, and the victim hit em in the head with a baseball bat, and he was the one being charged with assault. But guns are illegal here anyway so, doesn't matter.
6:18 My technique is bringing my left arm up under the person's arms to break their hold, making sure I continue the motion of my arm because I'm pushing the person's left arm to the point where his body has to turn, and then smack his ear with my right hand, palm open, to burst his eardrum. I'm right hand dominate so that's why I use left to break. There is also a technique to burst BOTH eardrums at once.

It does not work even if the attacker is ticklish. Tickling will not make them loosen up the grip. They would only turn more aggressive.

You need to have a gun permit (IN USA) to be able to do that, but I don't know for other countries. But that's still a good suggestion.
In the usa if you dont have a criminal record you can buy a gun. Everyone should get a concealed carry permit and carry a gun everyday.
okay, now let's say you get grabbed from behind. you go to pull your gun from wherever you keep it on your person (let's say hip). the person who grabbed you moves to restrain that arm, maybe not yet realizing you have gun, to get you to stop moving. now the attacker has control of your arm if not the gun itself and you're unlikely to get a shot at them. shooting randomly can have mixed effects. it might scare them into running, or it might draw their attention to your weapon, in the hand they have control of. from this position of dominance they force the gun from your hand. now they can claim your weapon for their own and you're worse off than you started. In a straight confrontation, a gun can give you an advantage. but if you're taken by surprise it means nothing and can even be turned against you.
Nah fam in my country it's illegal to use a gun on the perpetrator if the perpetrator is using less than a gun, let's say, a knife for example. You must always use something to defend yourself that is less than the attacker is using. I remember a case in which someone broke into someone's house, and the victim hit em in the head with a baseball bat, and he was the one being charged with assault. But guns are illegal here anyway so, doesn't matter.

6:18 My technique is bringing my left arm up under the person's arms to break their hold, making sure I continue the motion of my arm because I'm pushing the person's left arm to the point where his body has to turn, and then smack his ear with my right hand, palm open, to burst his eardrum.
I'm right hand dominate so that's why I use left to break. There is also a technique to burst BOTH eardrums at once.
