- Ben Kavanagh is working as a teacher in Wuhan - the city under quarantine as the deadly coronavirus continues to spread across China .(Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
He told us he was planning to venture out of his home one last time today to buy food and essential supplies before being stuck in his flat for the duration of the lockdown.
He took his phone along to film it all for us.
China's health minister has also warned that the virus is 'getting stronger'. 56 people have now died and more than 2,000 are infected - with many of those infected not yet displaying symptoms.

This is so scary. Basically seeing a city of 11 million people, empty.
The doctors advised everyone to stay at home trying not to spread the disease even more. If it's true that they don't know much about the virus or how deadly it is they are trying to reduce the infected people as much as possible until a vaccine is developed or if the virus is deadly, all the infected people,...well,...die.
Only thing scary is I've never heard of this city......
I personally think it looks pretty freakin cool to be honest but the thought of getting sick in a situation like that truly terrifies me

A friend of mine went to Wuhan in December to visit his family untill Chinese New Year celebration. He luckily got out on the last day before Wuhan was locked up. Now he is probably stuck in Beijing.

i remember watching this when it was JUST posted and at that time the virus was only there... now it’s literally everywhere.. scary.

Believe me I'm panicked I can't hold it when everyone around me is getting it. People are making me scared more than the virus itself because they dont do what's necessary and they act as its joke but its not even my city became the ghost city today. The bad act of people made the government to force us to stay at home for 48 hours or they will arrest us if they saw us in any street. This virus is really bringing out the racism in some people, jesus. Most people in China don't eat dogs and nowadays they're just like regular pets. The only people who do are the elderly generation that grew up during the starvation that was China's industrialization.
lrose not in this case. Wuhan is actually one of the areas that does have a history of consuming dogs. And the Wuhan market where this virus originated literally sells dog meat. And with a city of millions cut off from sufficient supplies and with most markets closed there is an almost certainty stray dogs will be consumed.

People are just staying home. I am a Chinese living overseas from a tier 4 city in east part of China. When I am chatting with my friends and relatives, I am very surprised on their effort put in: everyone is staying home though our city has no confirmed case yet. This period used to be the most busy time to visit relatives / friends. One of my cousin who is running a restaurant shut down it to avoid public gathering before any government notice (I used to think this guy is money driven...) Now everyone is visiting virtually and play poke games online together LOL. I only concern that maybe they will be used to meet virtually and start to have less human touch after this.... Stay safe everyone!

and that's probably one of the reasons it's become an epidemic there, the different approach that different cultures have. if everyone in Wuhan was as over careful as him, maybe the cases would be less. or maybe it's just a personality trait, who knows, but good for him, doesn't hurt to be extra careful

@@pandora9814 He said he was doing it so he can stay indoors for as long as possible. The fewer trips he makes to the store the less likely he is to contract something.
