  • I work hard to help people recover from tinnitus. Sometimes tinnitus clients can come across "trolls" who post negative, destructive and untrue information which causes great harm to those seeking help. This can have very grave consequences, as well as harming me, my practice and livelihood. I am aware that in the UK this is illegal. If there are any people with legal experience who can advise me on how to protect my clients and help them stay clear from destructive information please get in touch. My email is info@juliancowanhill.co.uk

    Julian, you got my life back on track. I was a new father to a beautiful little baby girl when tinnitus first hit me. It really affected me as a new dad. Actually it affected me at all areas of my life. Your direction guidance really helped me overcome my tinnitus. I do get occasional tinnitus spikes here and there, but nothing that I now encounter with tinnitus ever stops my life. And I owe that to your teaching, your books, and your videos. I'm proof that your therapy is very helpful. When I realized and I had my breakthrough moment is when I was applying your teaching about getting outside of your mind and into your body. The entire house was completely quiet, so my tinnitus had the maximum opportunity to drive me crazy. As I was doing the techniques, something crazy happened! The tinnitus was completely gone and I heard nothing but complete silence and peace. That's the moment I knew that tinnitus is not an ear issue, but a nervous system issue. Over the last eight or nine years that I've had tinnitus, I rarely notice it. A lot of times it's completely quiet. Most of the time it's not there. The first thing you did is give me hope... the second thing you did was help me relax my nervous system. The third thing you did is help me overcome it. And finally when I do have a tinnitus Spike, I recognize that tinnitus is a measuring stick for how I'm doing in my life. It teaches me if I'm burning the candle at both ends or if I'm living a relaxed peaceful life and outside of my head and in my body. So shame on those people for trying to rob others of the blessing you have given me.

      Thanks so much for your positive sharing here. I'm so glad that the work has helped you get better. It is very rewarding helping people get their lives back. I love that moment when you found the house being completely quiet. Great! I remember when I first had silence after 20 years of bad noise I ran to the bottom of the garden at my mother's house in Sussex and burst into tears. I knew it was possible to get better. deep down. It will really help others reading that you had complete silence and peace. It is good to know that this is possible. This spreads out like a positive ripple and affects others in a positive way. Thank you for sharing this.

    It's really sad that some people need to hurt others instead of just letting go what they don't understand or like. But we know you, Julian, and we support you. You have help me and many others so much that I could'nt thank you enough. I was desperate when I found you, and you inmediately soothed me with your knowledge, your voice and your movements. Even though I am currently having a rough 3-4 days with my "T". I am motivated to raise my voice to this cause. For 25 yrs ,You have been nothing short of a beacon of hope and insightful and confident wisdom based on your own experience as a human living with this invasive audio challenge. We are all people who have been armoured by your many years of positive reaffirmation about coping skills and tools. And go out armed with the knowledge that we can co-exist with this sound in our lives. We can even find the steps to make friends with it to the point it can become back-ground again. Please don't let the very small number of disgruntled , perhaps unsuccessful , sufferers of this ailment , dissuade or diminish your commitment to this very pertinent and relevant modern epidemic. You have been my lighthouse Julian...and we can be yours. Cheers !

      Thanks for your positive feedback. I want to put an end to the negative bullying and disturbance that some people create. It is tremendously satisfying helping people get better. Thankfully the trolling happens rarely. But I want to take action as it harms some people a lot and the trolls may not even know what happens as a result of their actions. I'm not a litigious person but I find it incredible that a platform allows harmful content to stay there churning bad vibes out on an on-going basis.

    Dearest Julian, how utterly devastating! It's extraordinary that these malicious people do this to a person that not only heals people, but is an amazingly wonderful human being as you are. I know in my past, I had a couple of people spreading awful and destructive rumours about me, I went to a lawyer and he sent letters to them, he advised them to stop, or a defamation law suit would follow, we requested a written letter to say these things were lies. The end result is a letter of withdrawal from them, and I never heard anymore, but it was awful, and affected my personal life and work, I was a teacher. Definitely get a lawyer involved and use the law to protect yourself and reputation, these things are viewed as very serious..You are a beautiful person and helped me when I was at one of the most frightening times of my life, I will be eternally grateful to you..Sending love..xx

      Really glad to hear the information has helped you. Thanks for sharing your positivity. I hope a person with legal expertise could send some advice. Freedom of speech is one thing but videos that cause suicidal ideation and in some cases suicide is not acceptable in my mind. People need to know that we can get better with tinnitus. Our hearing is constantly changing its sensitivity levels. When fear comes down hearing reverts from radar ears listening out for danger back to settled hearing that only focuses on what is interesting or important and ignores all the boring background brain buzz. This is simple physiology shat should be taught on day one of learning about tinnitus to all ENTS, Audiolgists, Hearing Specialists. It is not difficult to understand.

The people that hate like this unfortunately do not have another way of dealing with their suffering right now. Anger is a tempting one to fall back on when all hope seems lost. I was in therapy for this in the Netherlands, same stuff was taught and works. But one man in the class was really stuck, frustrated and angry, which kept him suffering and lashing out to others, even those trying to help. It's a sad thing to see while the rest of us were improving greatly. I really hope he's had his breakthrough moment since.

      Thank you for your positive feedback. Very much appreciated. I am fine and I'm actually used to trolls. I'm just learning how I can protect those I am working with from destructive, libellous, defamatory and damaging information. For more information please download my app www.quietenapp.com and watch the "First things first" videos. Then click on the Matrix and click on the red banner and work your way through the introductory videos there. You will gain a good overview of how this condition works. On each level there are techniques which I encourage you to try out. Find the ones that work best for you and develop a toolbox of coping strategies. I recommend doing the evening face massage (level one techniques) and the boatmast meditation (level four techniques) every day. The app is free for a month and then costs roughly £10 for a month, or £70 for a year which includes bi-weekly check-in sessions with me on-line live. So for a whole year you get on-line support, useful information and practical techniques for less than the price of one therapy session. Mindset is everything. Practice helps enormously. Understanding how this condition works turns it from a terrifying monster into a temporary healthometre and feedback loop. You can get better too. I hope you find this information helpful and wishing you a steady recovery. Best wishes Julian

    I felt I should write a comment here. A lot to consider re good course of action and while I’m not a legal expert I have a few thoughts. I think you merely sharing awareness of what is happening is a good first move in many ways. It allows people who have genuinely found your videos and advice helpful to endorse you… and I absolutely do so. When I first had tinnitus it felt a dark place and the GP just said nothing can be done, and people go round with earphones to try and drown it in music. His interaction made it worse. On reflection years down the line, that outcome makes sense as my mindset was sent in a negative direction and the tinnitus volume increased. The whole point of your approach is the opposite to happen so as to reduce volume. When I heard you say that GPs might say this sort of thing and that they are wrong it hit the mark and helped. I was fortunate to see a therapist local to me who helped lead me in the right direction and could actually explain some of the mind mechanics (for want of a better term) - I should say that some of it as scientifically proven biology and indeed since then more research has proven still further. Suffice it to say it started to make more sense and helped me understand there was a path to reduce or clear tinnitus symptoms. I realise that some deep biological hard factual science may not all be there to fully explain what is going on, but enough is known to say that certain practices do really work and give huge relief to many people. I’m married to a scientist - likes dealing in hard facts and evidence - that’s fair enough. However, she also as a scientist knows that science is about the expansion of factually proven knowledge and there’s much we just don’t know YET. Just because we can’t necessarily explain precisely in a scientific way how some things work doesn’t mean they cannot work. She would say there is more work to do to expand the scientific level of knowledge - it’s always been this way and it continually expands. The body and the mind in particular is where a huge amount more discovery is yet to come. Does that mean we should ignore all ‘alternative therapies’? Ofcourse not. My wife as a scientist herself doesn’t, and while in certain areas of life she would point to established science and say that’s the way to go, in other areas she will be open to alternatives. If it works for you then that is that - it works !
    Thank you Julian for your videos that supplemented my recovery - tinnitus is still around but comes and goes and I have a mindset to be able to let it go. It stopped dominating my life and the rare not so good days get rarer.
    Opening up serious consideration of legal action I hope in itself make detractors consider their position. I think I’d keep evidence for potential future use at least. Where there are opportunities for people to provide positive feedback - maybe through other methods and not just here on UA-cam- then that might be a good course of action. Positivity can outshine the negative given the numbers of people I bet you’ve helped. I wish you all the best and given people know what you do is good I don’t think the wishes are needed. Nevertheless I hope many more sincerely endorse your work and the results from your videos as I do here and now.

    I am sorry that you are dealing with this Julian! You are excellent at what you do! You have helped so many people including myself who have suffered from tinnitus! It really is no sweat off your back! I watched that guys response video to your video, its hilarious he says that he is a lawyer, lmao! Yeah where did he pass his bar: the Olive Garden Restaurant. Funny kid, he should be a comedian. I showed his video to a bunch of friends at work, we were all laughing! He just wants the attention, he loves the camera. I busted out laughing when he started using curse words like a tough guy! Albeit he talks to all the judges that way! 😂
    Think he has a crush on you my friend!!

    • @JulianCowanHill
      @JulianCowanHill  11 місяців тому

      Sure. I get where you are coming from. Normally I wouldn't respond at all. But if this video directly causes an extreme reaction in someone who is feeling vulnerable, ie if it clearly causes harm, then surely this is contentious and something needs to be done. I cannot tell you how often people react to negative information on You Tube. That is one of the main reasons why I created my app. As you know I recommend people staying away from negative information on the internet. But if something terrible happens as a result of a negative and destructive video, shouldn't the originator be notified? Shouldn't there be some responsibility somewhere?

    • @SecDirect700
      @SecDirect700 11 місяців тому

      @@JulianCowanHill Julian the originator is well aware of what he is doing! He is a destructive person, as A therapist the best way to handle this for your practice and your patients is with altruism! He wants the negative side of what your doing to simply gain popularity off of your channels success in helping people.Feeding into it and responding to it only empowers him to keep going, and ramp up tinnitus suffers by placing doubt on their recovery in their heads. Trust me, He loves that you responded, he wants the fight, he wants your attention and he wants your viewers.
      Don’t waste your time responding.
      Candidly, if you want to do anything you should give him a free psychological evaluation, it’s clear that he is a troubled person! I mean he actually posted a video representing that he is an attorney. I think it’s hilarious, unfortunately any body that believes that is not going to be able to help their tinnitus!
      In general continue putting out videos that really focus on counter acting the negative side of what your doing. Believe me when I tell you, your patients all see who you are in your videos. Calm, caring, and truly interested In helping. Your care and love of helping your patients comes across in abundance! This is why you are successful at what you do! It’s unfortunate, when your good at what you do, you will always be a subject of scrutiny. However it’s entirely irrelevant.
      He doesn’t warrant or deserve your time or attention. Candidly I would take down this post and move on!
      Robbie!

      That is a brilliant suggestion, thank you. I will try to connect with them. To be honest I am used to the small pieces of negativity floating around. People have said I should be locked up and I'm like a hairy baboon (that was a University Professor in the Middle East - should know better really). Normally it makes me laugh. But what annoys and disturbs me is that I have complained to UA-cam about Anthony who has put a video out called Julian Cowan Hill is a scammer don't pay him, and they are not taking this down. This is clearly libel and defamation. Of course Anthony won't contact me or tell me who he is or where he lives. He doesn't have the balls to own who he is. Trolls never do. It seems that we live in a world where people are allowed to abuse and commit crimes and get away with them unchecked. The sad thing is that I know people who have become suicidal as a result of these negative messages. It seems wrong that trolls can cause suicide and get away with it and undo the hard work of those trying to help people back to well-being. If it happens should I put the family in touch with the troll that helped kill their family member? I'm not joking here. This is a genuine ethical question needs to be considered. I get emailed by people who say I watched video X and it made me suicidal and so I have plenty of evidence. Unfortunately suicides do happen and mostly it happens due to negative messaging. Thanks once again for your suggestion and I am really glad my videos have helped you. It is tremendously satisfying and rewarding work helping people back to normality and manageability. I wish we could wash away the cyber xxxx that just floats around for years and cause more xxxx to happen.

      @@JulianCowanHillMy pleasure Julian. I've had a Spike a few weeks back when using electric hedge trimmer and my head spiked. I'm still recovering and frustrated that not wearing ear protection would knock my progress back. I've seen Audiologist and ENT and hearing all clear but head buzzing. Why is my audio system still overstimulated or is it my frustration causing myself to be stuck? Can you recommend anything to calm down my system before I'm able to book another session with you?
      P.S I would do another videos of success stories and why people like to post hate videos regarding Tinnitus motivators and healers!
      Many Thanks Julian for giving us hope in these difficult times.

      Best to use hearing protection while your hearing is still sensitive. Stay within your comfort zone when it comes to loud noise exposure for the time being. I would do a good 45 minutes of practice every day if you can. Please develop a toolbox of coping strategies and practices from my app www.quietenapp.com
      Go to the audio section and try the walking meditation, please do the evening face massage on level one techniques and the boatmast meditation on level four techniques every day. I have just done the sack of potatoes technique: the last one on level two for one hour and it has grounded me and settled my system very successfully. I was stressed out after my son's appendectomy which made me feel really overwhelmed. He is fine now, but the nerviness was hanging around. So basically rolling slowly on the floor from one side onto the other for almost an hour has pushed my reset button and now I feel calm and settled. It would be good if you could settle yourself really deeply and know that you can do this. It really helps.

    Julian, it is unfortunately this kind of people who locked me in the vicious circle of tinnitus and more generally in anger and frustration. I understand skepticism and it is rather a good sign to ask questions about phenomena that are not fully understood at 100%.
    In France, we have the same: Les zététiciens. These are people for whom science explains "all" the phenomena and functioning of our environment. They confuse "science" and "scientism" but they are persuaded to be right. It is a form of new religion. Basically, to them, anything alternative health is pure quackery.
    Nevertheless, dragging people in the mud who offer advice, exercises, hope, reassurance (...), is truly disgusting. Your work is honorable and I think you have helped a lot of people regain their self-confidence.
    Take care of yourself.
    Nicolas

    • @JulianCowanHill
      @JulianCowanHill  11 місяців тому +2

      Hi Nicolas, Thanks for your reply. What a brilliant word: zététiciens! I have heard people actually say anecdotal evidence is a waste of time. This is scientism at the height of madness and it is a very strange new religion indeed. So if someone says "I did X and X made me better," as far as people professing scientism are concerned it is invalid. Human experience is apparently less important that scientific data collecting. As a CST I always like the "hush now, lie down and let me show you approach!" Thoughts and beliefs really can keep people locked in dark places. At the moment if you look up CST in Wikipedia it is described as quackery. So all the millions of sessions that have helped people get better are disregarded because thoughts inside a naysayer's head are deemed more important than the experiences of many. I love science and true scientists do brilliant work. Thankfully many people have tried craniosacral therapy and have benefitted from it. It is doesn't work for you find something that does. Thanks for your positive feedback. Wishing you well, Julian

    • @JulianCowanHill
      @JulianCowanHill  10 місяців тому +1

      If it is from stress and tight structures restricting the function of the auditory system then sometimes this can be improved. If it is caused by damaged hair-cells or nerves then sometimes this can be helped with cochlear implants. It depends on so many different factors. Best to be examined by an ENT and Audiologist first. Then try craniosacral therapy, osteopathy or chiropractic work to help free up the physical structures of the ear, neck and facial area which can improve physiological function of the auditory system.

    This isn’t legal advice. Defamation/Libel/Slander are expensive and time consuming actions to bring. They also carry significant financial risk if you lose. If you have legal expenses insurance you can see if you’re covered. You can also keep lawyers on a retainer and they can deal with any case as it arises. However, imho, it’s far better to ignore provocation that most won’t hear about. Another option is to consider whether what the individuals are doing is criminal harassment. If they are specifically harassing you or your clients, you can ask them to stop. If they continue, you can report to police. Part of being prominent on social media is that you get trolls and the sm companies won’t do anything about it. Unless it’s very specific harassment outside of social media, my approach would be not to feed it by responding.

    Dear Julian this is upsetting to see and hear , I have viewed the channel and videos of the individual in question that you are refering to . In all of his videos what he seems to fail to acknowledge or address is the multitude of people including myself who ...have... been helped in the reduction of their Tinnitus to the point of regaining peace once again from following your guidance methods and indeed your personal treamnent and help . While he may make some valid points in regards to " non proven science " and " proven treatments " and in his comments on the amount of scams that do exist that have some truth to them to then dismiss all those that promote methods of healing that do not fall into what he considers viable is ingnorant on his part . The amount of people that speak of how you have helped them recover from Tinnitus is evidence in itself of how you ...can ...and...do... help people to recover from Tinnitus. I have always had a scepticle mindset when it came to alternative health treatments and methods however I can say with full honesty that it was you and your methods including CST that helped me recover from my own Tinnitus more than anyone or anything else. Thank you again and I hope you continue to help many more people with their Tinnitus . Best wishes. Ade .

    Ohhh Julian i am so sorry to hear you say this is happening to such an obviously caring and kind man. I have been watching your videos and read your book and just recently downloaded the Quiten app. I have had T for 30 years long befre internet etc was used i habituated completely for 20 years with it coming back in 2013 after too much work too much stress. It led to my breaking down completely. Then i found your book followed by the u tube videos and u literally saved my life. I now have the app which is fantastic. You should be honoured for your services seriously. I am not sure what has happened but it has obviously distressed you. You are too good a person to allow jealous nasty pieces of rubbish people to affect you all it is pure jealousy. Pursue them if you feel you should and want to go there but personally i think your reputation and the respect people obviously have for you will not be affected by this. Karna knows who they are and their addresses. They will just disappear because no-one will renember them wheras you will always be the man who people whose life has been made a misery through T turn to. U just keep on doing what you do and dont waste your time worrying about people who no one listens to nor cares about. Once again u saved my sanity seriously and i have visited some and paid a lot of money to see some very supposedly experts in T who did nothing and really didnt care. You are a real caring and genuine man. No one with any experience of the suffering with T will take any notice neither should you. Sorry to have gone on so long just hate to see such unfairness. Dont let them get to you. Ignore them and pay no attention people like that love attention good or bad any attention suits them so dont give them any!!! If you do decide to go ahead with any action i am sure there will be plenty of supporters on here who will be more than happy to help. Look after yourself and as you are always saying " dont be bullied".

    Hello Julian. I am a lawyer but not a defamation/ libel specialist but I have also seen some of these comments. I believe that a few solicitors firms will take on cases that they (or more likely their insurers) consider to have a positive outcome, on a no win no fee basis. Google this Julian and see if a firm will take you on. It can be an expensive and sometimes ruinous gamble to commence defamation proceedings but I think you will find a firm willing to take this on
