    nice video ...great job
    i have a question pls
    wiring closed loop stepper or servo stepper is the same with any cnc breakout board ? right
    is the software configuration or setup in mach3 or linuxcnc as the open loop stepper ?
    thanks

      If the drive takes step and direction, any controller that puts out step and direction should control it. I don't use Mach anymore. I only use Centroid CNC

    Marty, why is the motor lead shorter then the encoder lead?

    • @martyscncgarage5275
      @martyscncgarage5275  5 років тому

      Just the way it came from the vendor. Easy to extend the motor lead.

    What does enable do? You didn't use it in one of your videos. I think your videos are great for dummies like me.

      Hi Bob, it is a signal to enable the stepper drive from the control. It is only active when the control is in the ready state, in MDI or to run a program. I didn't use it in a previous video because it was a quickie video to help a user. As for motor power cable, 3 wires are easier to extend than a 15 wire encoder cable. Dependent on the machine and distance from the motor to the the stepper drivers.

    I have a question about the revs per turn. you set them up at 4000 what did you set the driver up at? can you set it up at 2000 pulse per rev with the encoder at 4000?

    • @martyscncgarage5275
      @martyscncgarage5275  4 роки тому

      Default of 1000

    • @martyscncgarage5275
      @martyscncgarage5275  4 роки тому

      And that's steps per motor revolution....

    • @tronmachineman5577
      @tronmachineman5577 4 роки тому

      so the stepper motor drives are ok to set the switches to 2000?

    • @martyscncgarage5275
      @martyscncgarage5275  4 роки тому +1

      Yes but change steps per motor rev to 8000. High step count may affect your top rapid speeds

    how many amps is the 48v power supply? What would you recommend?

    • @martyscncgarage5275
      @martyscncgarage5275  5 років тому

      That depends on the motors and drives you use and how many.

      Sorry Joe, I don't follow. This is a basic bench test using closed loop steppers and following a schematic.

    Amazing the content can be so good but the intro music has to be so overdriven and clipped.
