- You've seen this done before, But not many are right.
AC, PS, S2k Dash are just the beginning.
2002 Camaro SS LS1 engine and transmission installed in an S2000.
The engine only weights 72lbs more than the stock S2000.
We built the engine with CNC heads, stainless valves, Livernoise Stg2 cam, Ported throttle body, custom long tube headers and a cold air intake.
The engine stock makes 345HP. With the modifications it made 408whp and 380tq while been 100% daily drive-able.
We retained the S2000 dash, PS, and AC. The car runs, drives and looks great.
I can't believe nobody has mentioned that this is a swapped S2000 with all WORKING accessories! Great job John and the boys at LHT!
Rickey 240 because it was already mentioned in the description of the video
Update on this car. The custom has been very happy and spent alot of time at the track ( Road course) , It has since blown the diff. It turned out to be a badly installed Quaife and damage the case and bearings. Ben from Puddy mod has since built a new Diff, we also had Gator Racing axles build a custom set of stringer axles too. The set up has been performing very well, and has since got upgraded shocks, brakes and a roll bar. 90% for it's use is now track use. Thanks for the comments guys.
Awesome to hear the customer running it on road race, I'm sure this car sounds great on the road!
LHTPerformance Clean install guys! Keep up the good work
LHTPerformance been thinking about doing this in the future. How much would this cost me from start to finish?
How much does this swap run?
@LHTPerformamce @lht how much does this cost if I have the donor car already
Beautiful install. I love the LS1.
similar Horsepower to the Kraftswerks supercharger kit but with an extra 100 ft/lbs of torque......hell yeah!!! this is bad ass
so about the k-sight. not a fan of the car but you transformed it. your fab work on everything is A+ amazing. cant believe I haven't heard of you sooner
I wish there's a shop like this near me.
Could you give a neighbourhood guestimate on how much would you charge to do this exact same job again, given a customer brings in a fully functional and running S2000 AP2?
Do you have before and after weights for the complete car? I'd be interested to see how much it changed with the transmission, exhaust, mounts, etc. all added in. Beautiful work. It looks easier to work on than the original LS1 in my 2000 Trans Am.
Ladco77 I didn’t personally weigh one but a customer said his came in 112lbs heavier after the LS1. The balance was still very close to 50/50 as the trans and motor are slightly further back than stock.
@@LHTPerformance Congratulations on your car bro. What an amazing combination it’s like having a corvette and a totally different interior compared to that shhhh interior in the corvettes come with.
I still can’t decide between an ls swap or a supercharger for my S. If I could find a shop relatively close to me that could do a full swap maintaining ac and the obd2 port for a reasonable price, I would go for it. My only concern is find the right FD ratio for the rear end. I don’t want to keep the stock 4.10 ratio and top out at 110-115mph. I know the c5 Vettes have a 3.1 and top out around 186. If It’s possible and affordable to swap in a corvette diff, that would be perfect for me.
It's awesome how small the LS1 is. Not much bigger than the K20 spoon in weight at least.
Also may I ask what the average for this type of work would cost
you guys are amazing with the work that you do :)
Did you have to remove the crossmember to make this fit?
That is one badass Honda.
How much is handling affected with the engine being in front of the axle line now? Does she nose in harder when cornering now?
you guys make it look so easy great job 👍
I wonder what the ball park price would be on this build
would have liked to seen a full video series on that. .. .
What kind of fabrication had to be done to get the LS1 + T56 to fit properly?
Pwillig Probably not as much as you would think. There are kits for this now that are relatively cheap (minus the engine and tranny)
nice build, just thinking out-loud, if that was a honda NA engine it would be making no less than 100hp per liter, so at least 570hp sounds just about right . but the v8 TQ most feel so good :)
How much is the cost total with labor$$????that some beautiful work..
How much does this cost. Factor in decent ls1 and trans plus upgraded diff...
I know this sounds dumb but what did this cost after swap and blown diff ? ? ?
How much power can the stock differential handle? If I were to consider your supercharger upgrade and make 400whp, do I need to have the differential swapped or can I just get the larger cover that allows more diff fluid? What are options for stronger differentials?
Christopher Mendoza if you are planning to do FI on an s2000 you need to get a stronger differential. stock differentials are very weak. they can break from launching from a dig with stock tq and horsepower. I am an s2000 owner myself :)
8k for basic setup... how much for this swap with the ps ac etc. minus the motor mods.? I'm assuming ps and ac aren't BASIC.
What software are you using to tune? How were you able to keep AC, PS, and have all the gauges working properly??
Kirk Hamilton We use HP Tuners. The stock ecu is also retained to run cruise control, Power steering etc
Thanks for the quick reply and answers!
any issues with oil pressures on left handers on the road course?
Is it a reliable set up being an American motor? I just don't see putting in $10k and not reliable. Power is nothing if u can't drive it. Though I do like American v8s.
The LS motor is a very reliable motor , alot of drift guys have changed over to it for that reason. This S2000 is now spending more time on the road course than anything else.
What do you mean 10k? Aren't ls1's like a couple g's at most? I imagine a ls1 s2k swap would cost like 2.5 at the very most, for wiring looms, engine mounts and just the engine. Is there much more to it?
iceman5815 you'll spend more then 10k
Lol, Are you serious......You may not be familiar with building cars....lol That cracked me up.
Put an LS2 in it, call it the LS2000 :p
Fantastic work, beautiful car.next it needs a turbo
How difficult in comparison would it be to do it in crx
I think that great , from an old guy
What differential and axles do you use? Does that come with your basic build?
+adam911t The diff was already built. I think Puddy Mod did this. Axles are stock. Unless you're drag racing I don't think it would be an issue with stock parts.
Now all it needs is the full blown cobra rear end
yet another amazing video/creation
Which would be the superior option in terms of fuel consumption ... V8 or turbo charged F22c if hypothetically both made the same hp?
V8 swapped S2ks get 25-31mpg and more on long cruises depending on gearing and engine and cam. That's better than a corvette.. they weigh less. Thats also better economy than stock S2K lol, turbo will be worse.
N4CR5 lol you're kidding your self if you think it gets better fuel economy than the 4 cylinder
+n1k007 No, you're kidding yourself if you think the number cylinders is directly tied to fuel consumption. The F20 is a high-revving, low-torque engine, that must spin higher just to maintain cruising speeds. An LS is an under-stressed, high-torque engine that hardly needs any RPM even when accelerating, allow the engine to stay closer to the top of its efficiency curve. Why do you think Corvettes get better highway fuel economy than S2000s?
Great stuff 👍more test drives please
John is this thing still alive?
Yea it is. Still racing
Is that a Mercedes v8? How much was the whole job?
It literally says the engine in the title bruh
Do y'all got a video build with a 94-97 Honda accord sedan or coupe manual swap / RWD
No.
How long did this swap take?
what is the weight ratio now? Did you have to move the firewall a bit back?
+Heli0doros The new set up weighs 73lbs more. It's close to the weight of a supercharger or turbo kit.
LHTPerformance Wow! Im kinda tempted!!!
how much do you charge to do that?
Super tight fit, i would of waited and put a 700-800hp ls motor in it.
Lhtperformence am have a problem I hear a clunkand popping noise when I turn the wheel left and right at a full stop on my s2k would you guy know what it could be..???
This could be as simple as axle nuts. Remove them, grease and torque to factory specs. This solves 95% of the issues we see
interior vid of the shifter and all Guage working
if it's making as much power as the factory engine+turbo kit what's the point of the swap?
The LS is still going to be far superior overall.
It sounds hot
an extra 100 ft/lbs of torque plus saying you have a v8 over a bolt on supercharger
the f20 won't last long with a supercharger if it's pushed hard.
Ivan Ivanov I disagree, been to a few time attack days in San Diego and mine makes 447 to the wheels. Besides the few track days I autocross every weekend and I’ve been on a few half country drives. The only thing I did engine wise was titanium valve springs and retainers, and ARP head studs. I don’t baby the car either. It’s a daily driven, drive it like you stole it kinda car
What front end bumper is that?
Atul Lall It came on the car. We don’t know anything about it.
how much for the mount kit
Badass thinking of doing a ls3 myself
Me encanta!
i want to do a v8 swap so bad, but i have no idea and know nothing about v8s...
It is a tough call on f20 turbo or ls1. But the ls1 does sound like god yelling at me..
all that and stock rear end?
The diff was already built as the old motor was turbo charged.
How much are we looking at if I ever decided to do something like this?
8k for a basic setup.
think it's funny they drop v8s into s2ks and a stock f20c with a turbo or supercharger has the same or more hp
True if they keep it NA but to me it ruins the fact of it being a Honda lol
and what do they make like 330hp?
Yea that's what I thought I was talking about the ls1 it's like 330hp stock correct?
F20 still that fastest na 4 cylinder?
and hey thanks for commenting back so quickly
price vs the supercharger kit
Cheaper to supercharge it but in a long run if pushed hard the LS1 will last longer.
Lht please make the music louder please after all there's a reason why lht edited with that music in the first place thank you for the great content
great work... but now this car is worth $1000 on the used market
I’d like to see a LSA/LS9 swap in one of these.
It's probably cheaper to just put a blower on one of these LS1. >.>
sweet!! we need to see a "Race" between am LS s2k and a supercharged s2k....
+WezleyB The V8 would beat a supercharged s2k
You sure? if the both make the same amount of horse power the v8 would still win?
NoobSteezie yes i am sure.. area under the dyno graph line makes a car fast, not a huge peak at full throttle..
Depends if at 1/4 mile or track. I think at quarter mile the ls would win and at track the supercharged would beat the ls
supercharged or turbocharged s2k motor with around the same HP will be faster due to being lighter and having a more aggressive power curve
Don't do this swap in Wisconsin , State Troopers see the swap and could request an inspection , anything after 1974 you can't swap any motor in unless it's offered from the dealership when it was new
PSA, Avoid Wisconsin ;)
how much we talkin to do this swap ?
+Tim Wolf thats what i want to know....
we need a ballpark answer here LHT.
Tim Wolf more than they would like to admit lol
10k+ probably. getting the rear end done properly is gonna cost 2-3k for parts alone. just from researching
Looking at 20k for a full swap
what type of engine is the LS
pavel1809 It's a Chevrolet motor, comes in older SS Camaro's n stuff. There's LS1, LS2, and LS7's. I'm a Honda guy tho, somebody correct me if I'm wrong
Description says this is an LS1 out of a Camaro SS.
Stunnasam21, there are way more LS engines than that! The LS1 was the start of the series and built from 96 to 05. Though displacing 5.7L, the LS is very different from the 5.7L 350 small block. The LS1 was a cast aluminum block rather than iron greatly reducing weight. It also used a 3.898" bore vs 3.48 in the 350. The LS1 debuted with the C5 Corvette and found its way into many performance vehicles over the years. Depending on year and application, horsepower ratings ranged from 305-350.
The LS6 was very similar to the LS1 sharing the 5.7L displacement. This engine was built for the C5 Z06 and also made its way into the Caddy CTS-V. The LS6 had a hotter cam, reinforced block casting, higher compression and the valves were filled with sodium to reduce weight. It first appeared with 385hp and later turned out 405.
In this same generation, GM also transitioned their truck engines over to the LS architecture but cast iron was used for the blocks instead of aluminum. The 305 (5.0L) was replaced by the 4.8L LR4 which offered 255-285 hp and 285-296lbft of torque. The 5.3L LM7 was also introduced. With the same bore as the LR4, the two share a block casting. The LM7 utilizes a longer stroke for the additional displacement and made from 270-295hp and 315-335lbft of torque. The 5.3L (the LM7 and future revisions) has stepped right into the place of the old 350 small block as the go-to engine for hot rodders now. Availability and parts compatibility with other LS engines makes it a great choice to build power on the cheap. There was also the LQ4/LQ9 6.0L engine. These had the same 3.622 stroke as the 5.3 but a 4" bore. Power ranged from 325-345hp and 360-385lbft.
The LS2 is considered the next generation of LS engines and shared the same bore and stroke as the LQ4 and LQ9 with an aluminum block. This engine was found in the Pontiac G8, the 6.0L GTO and was the base engine in the C6 Corvette pumping out 400hp and 400lbft of torque. The L76, L77 and L98 are all variants of the LS2 with different features like displacement on demand or e85 compatibility. The LY6 is a cast iron 6.0 for trucks along with a couple more variants for the hybrid trucks.
There are a bunch of 4.8l and 5.3 variants again depending on features and applications, some aluminum and others cast iron. Most notable here is the LS4 which was an aluminum 5.3 with modifications for front wheel drive and LS6 heads.. This engine was found in the Monte Carlo SS, Impala SS, Grand Prix GXP and the Buick LaCrosse Super.
You mentioned the LS7 which was the 4.125" bore, 427 cubic inch, 7 liter monster for the C6 Z06. 505hp from the fatory and will make more if you just look at it the right way.
With a 4.06" bore and an updated block, we have the 6.2L LS3 (actually the L92 showed up first, but whatever). It replaced the LS2 as the base engine in the Corvette and was found in the Camaro SS, Pontiac G8 GXP, etc. making 420-440hp. Also at 6.2L were the LSA and LS9 engines. Equipped with a 1.9L or 2.3L roots supercharger (respectively). The LS9 features forged aluminum pistons, forged titanium connecting rods and a forged steel crankshaft making it more than tough enough for the 638hp and 604hp. The more mild LSA still belts out over 550 horsepower and lbft of torque.
There are also a 4.06" bore crate engines specified for dirt racing (DR model), circle tracks (CT) and LS376/LSX376 models. There are models with lower compression ratios and available forged internals ready for boost all the way up to decent spec N/A models at 535hp. GM even has a 454 cubic inch (7.4L) LS crate engine. Their most powerful version is the LSX454R rated at 776hp.
And that's pretty much everything for the Gen III and IV LS engines. Sorry I rambled on so long! I figured it's best I not get into Gen V. :)
stunnasam21 I believe there's ls1 ls2 ls3 ls4 ls6 ls7 ls9 lsA and lsx454 I think
Dank Rocha No LS4 and there’s an almost endless range of LSx engines.
How much was this build ?
A basic ls1 swap is around 8 grand.
+LHTPerformance how much for just the kit
+Hevert Pacheco. We don't offer a kit. We build cars at LHT, Not kits. Sorry.
+LHTPerformance nice.
+LHTPerformance I'm guessing 8k will make it run ? Safely?
Well good by to the 9k redline
Santiago Aguilar Id gladly get rid of 4000 rpms for well over double the torque to the wheels....
Coulda done "LS2000" badges... Just saying
I have those same wheels on my car lmao cool
crazy
IT HAS AC?!!??
Mentis Imperium Yes.
I like the elocution, just not the idea.
Nice frankenstein but the sound 🙉 Make it sound like a high revving honda and maybe i'll like it more.
Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.
The answer is yes. Absolutely.
I would have just got an ls7
And I would have bought a 10 bedroom house if I had the money ;)
American's and their LS swap...........zzzzzzzzzzzz
"LS1000"
why on gods green earth somebody will do that
enrique fernandez triggered purist
can't rev to 9k rpm...:(
supercharged s2k is lighter and makes more power....plus its cheaper to build
It's nearly the same weight and makes far less power, v8 is superior in an S2000...
Sophie Martin - you're the kind of middle school student to put a dislike on a video of an awesome swap...
Same power reliably but less torque.
Every swap isnt cool sometimes it doesnt make sense. Whos is talking about middle school kid i enjoy fadt cars. I have built fast cars and currently race ifo...idrc...and other events. Your the type of clown that when somebody doesnt agree with you about a wack swap you get all butt hurt...lol...lmao
+Chris Super Bikes&Stuff. You like calling names if people dont aggree with you. Sounds like your the only middle school student here....hahaha. If a swap doent yield true advantage what is the point. We are passed the days of swapping just to do it. Give me a reason for your comments or shut the fuck up.
work, bad ass.. but style PUUUKE.. that rice 1000 aero needs to go.
That was already on the car.
You make this video like the wheel was just reinvented lmao. Everyone has an LS1 now in something. Creativity=0
Andy Arlington We did what the customer paid us to do. Go tell your boss you don’t want to work and would rather go fishing all day. 🤷♂️
" we can build anything " ok challenge time then , LS swap a 1999 honda accord 4 door LX v6 3.0L. I expect a " that's to hard " response on that challenge. 😂😂
Owner sure does know how to make the sexiest car look ugly , horrible choice of aero...
What wire harness is that? And how can you use the stock s2k dash harness?
So the H iron bar between the struts have to be cut off?
