Traditional women did not get paid. Modern trad wives get paid and have their own money to spend how they want. I just hate how they try to make it sound like they are in the same group as grandmother's. They are not. They are businesses. Other than that I don't care what they do. This is an awesome thorough breakdown of the difference between the two!!!
@cydoniemiles1535 That is traditional. Go to work, take care of your family, and keep your home life separate from the world. It started with reality TV and this is just another version of that.
Traditionally it was the women who would handle the finances and that was also in biblical relationships. It’s later that women get allowances or a portion to balance, but some women also had family money and resources and it was later that the guys started to over take that, but initially or originally it was the women that handled the finances of the household. So the bills would be paid and food brought and clothing or materials to make it purchased etc. and those used to be skills taught in schools in classes like Home Economics where taking care of the home and running the household were learned. Balancing a checkbook was taught and cooking, sewing and many other task, but many schools don’t do those classes like they used to.
I am a housewife, and I love it, I can be my own boss, I can choose which chores I want to do or not do, I can make meals that I want to make, I love this lifestyle, I feel that people have their own choices, you do you.
I was born in 1960. My mother was a stay at home mom and homemaker, but my father didn't respect her. I knew that from a young age and was determined to not become my mother. I grew up in the Bible belt deep South and getting married right out of high school was the norm. I had two escape routes planned; college or the military. I was able to go to college and get a graduate degree in a male dominated field. I am saddened by women going backwards. Make your home beautiful, but don't become a man's doormat.
It’s so sad to see people weaponize old propaganda. Society is so divided, the often evangelical, traditional side hasn’t even reached the progressiveness that supposedly belongs to the 50s so being a homemaker seems obvious. Meanwhile the more modern side is two generations separated from the downsides, falling for pretty paintings and their parents/grandparents stories of homes (which they’ll forget often didn’t have electricity, running water, (or obv internet)). I part of me does a little when people romanticize traditional lifestyles without understanding the extensive preparations and precautions (prenups, outlining a specific wage for the labor you’re giving up, maintaining points of contact with the outside world that would check in with you daily, keeping any qualifications you have up to date). Trust isn’t worth your future.
I would just be happy if they were transparent that they're playing a character on social media, because it brings them views and profit. You are free to choose any kind of lifestyle, but just don't portray this perfectly-curated fantasy character as reality.
Of course, but informed consent is key. The the tradwife movement glamorizes the life style while ignoring the lack of financial independence , redundancy , lack of freedom , and depression that often went hand and hand with lifestyle .
@@raaid22This right here. I have never actually heard anyone say that it’s anti feminist to live this lifestyle, I HAVE heard women warning other women to make sure they are secure- financially, emotionally and physically. There aren’t a lot of older women promoting trad life, but there are many with warnings. Be safe and skeptical about TikTok and instagram posts telling you it’s perfect.
No hate towards women getting dressed up and do makeup choosing tradwive lifestyle but i just don't like when they encourage other women to take on their tradwives lifestyle and glamourizing patriarchy that's all. Feminism is all about equality and equal rights and the right to choose and fulfill their dreams without hesitation thats all
I would love to see you do a video on Martha Stewart since she’s been in the in the headlines recently with her new documentary and she does also have products out there that she uses personally when it comes to her grooming and beauty there are some really good products out there that she uses are actually really good quality and easy to access
I love being my own boss. I get to prioritize what's next and what be rearranged. It's a LOT of work buy more rewarding. Our home is our sanctuary in a crazy world.
My issue with Trad wives is it's all aesthetic. Wear pretty dresses, cook pretty meals, raise pretty kids. Which is unrealistic. Plus Trad wives don't encourage women to plan for worst case scenario. If anything happens to these women husbands, what their plan? marrying the next man they can get?
My mom was born in the 50s and her mom refused to be a housewife because she'd "go crazy". This actually made my mom feel rejected, because she felt that she was the reason her mom didn't want to stay home.
You are more lovely now than when I first found and viewed your channel.BTW my favorite episode back then was the one where we toured the home you grew up in. Your fathers painting. are wonderful.
Exactly….that is the structure of the Mormon cult( God and man rule and the woman obeys). But if they are really happy cleaning toilets 🚽 in their high heels and making money off sponsored videos more power to them lol😅
It’s unfortunate you only showed Nara the most when the real tradwives get overlooked. Nara doesn’t even say she is one. Look into Cynthia L, mrs. Midwest, & thyme and tenderness !! Great info 😊
I truly believe when they start saying housewives were "bored" , "unhappy", "unfullfilled" this is from feminist propaganda. Many housewives were too busy to be bored and for many women caring for their home, husband and children is very fullfilling. Many women did make food from scratch as well as canning their foods from their garden. There is also sewing clothes, gardening etc,. These all are fullfilling things being able to be with family and doing home-y things. Being stuck in a 9 to 5 at a desk or someplace away from your family and kids is what sounds like unhappiness and unfullfilling living only for the paycheck submitting to your boss instead of your husband. It also depends on the husband a woman has chosen, but that effects a person at home or work either way. Women with good loving husbands in general live good lives. Some women love a simple peaceful family life and don't feel the need to do some extravagant thing out in the world. It is true that it is best for women to choose to be in this, because it can be done by those who actually like to do it. Raising the future generation to be good people in the world is a very great thing and very fullfilling. Many women love their role as a housewife and can't wait to be one, someday! :D
Just expanding on another commenter below who asked what does the housewife do if their husbands leave them, I'm curious to hear from modern trad wives or from anyone, what are their thoughts on what does the housewife do if their husbands decide they want to have two wives or more (as in polygamous cultures)?
While I understand the gender role. One thing I think we have learned from the pandemic. Nothing is garinted. So learning to be more self safisiont my be a good thing
All I wanted to be was a wife and mother but as feminists were strong in the 80's that was unacceptable. I was expected to want a career but that was the career I wanted. I just now found a decent career but what a mess the many years have been and I am still not satisfied. Yes, the main difference is choice and that's what it should be about
I hope the traditional housewives of the 50s didn’t feel lonely as an introvert I felt quite left out a lot when I was a youth so I can imagine the pain they felt being stuck as a homemaker in the 50s. It does matter that peoples houses stay in order such as working out all that and staying strong together otherwise it’s showing they aren’t taking their marriage seriously if they don’t maintain a healthy relationship anyways it it’s important that everyone pursues peace and get the counseling they need. That would’ve been important too if the husband checks in on making sure their wife is ok instead of just her being a homemaker in that era.

Same thing as any other woman would do, get a job. We're housewives, doesn't mean we're moronic.
