Love all the technology and diversity we have today but unfortunately unrealistic beauty standards are out there and sometimes magnified on social media.

Yeah sometimes it seems like all the modern makeup practices are way too detailed, intricate, laborious and perfect. Like yeah, I guess if you are some "beauty influencer" you have like 7 or 8 hours to spend on hair and makeup

I’ve always loved the 1950’s look. Women didn’t have 8 different eye shadow colors on their lids or heavy contour, not that that’s a bad thing, but still looked really done up and polished. A very elegant time in my opinion.

VO5 is absolutely still available in the states. At least in the Northeast where I live; you can find it pretty much anywhere you can buy Shampoo.

I was born in 1956- one of 4 girls. I remember my sister giving me a Toni permanent on my very straight hair. It didn't work! My sister's used to set their hair with Dippity Do. What a fun nostalgic video!

Hi Laura! Your videos have really inspired me to explore and start incorporating older beauty products (skincare, makeup, and fragrance) and brands! My style is half Retro 1950s/1960s and half Gothic- so in other words I leave the house looking like Amy Winehouse or Vampira! 😆😅🤣😂 I am so glad I can walk around today rocking either of these beautiful styles! Would love to see more videos on historical beauty brands trends and where to acquire/how to achieve them. History of fragrances from historical brands would be interesting too

I remember my mother using most of these - for skin care she used Noxema and her shampoo was Breck. Maybelline also for the cake mascara and eyebrow pencils.

Nivea, Olay and Mario Badescu seaweed cream. I was told if you mix a little of it with nivea its like Le Mer!

I think that the 1950s wasn't totally about conformity when it came to beauty.. if you look at all the major stars, their hair and makeup looks were tailored to suit them and bring out there individual best...Marilyn's hair and makeup looked nothing like Audrey's.
Sophia Loren's vibe was nothing like Grace Kelly. To me instead of just saying authentic self they actually thought about amd worked what truly looked good amd brought out the best in them.

This is it, the 1950s!!!! The clothes, jewelry, make up, and perfumes were gloriously beautiful. In the 1950s, a whiff of Jergen's lotion could transport you to different realm. When the aroma was so captivating that it made you stop and think about it. That fragrance used to stop me in my tracks and for a split second, I'd breathe in deeply and think, "Ahh, that smells so good." It was much the same with Arpege, Avon Topaze and Cotillion, Revlon's Aquamarine, and many of the other great fragrances that were popular then.

I use Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream and it's so good. I also love the eight hour overnight moisturizer from them as well. I also use nivea creme (German version) every day. Revlon creme super lustrous lipsticks are the only ones I will wear. I've used up several bottles Estee Lauder Youth Dew a lot in the past. It's a winter go-to for me.

I love the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's far as fashion, skincare, and makeup are concerned, I think the women that lived in these eras, were beautiful and really glamorous, I feel that now, everyone wants to look the same almost, especially with plastic surgery on the rise.
