      My great Grandma had Lewy body dementia (often misdiagnosed as Alzheimer’s) and she would get hallucinations and all that (she was in a care home, sadly she has now passed away over 2 years ago now).

      @@abigray8585 Yes, my grandpa was the same way when he got Alzheimer’s [(NOT dementia) before he got so bad he could hardly speak, move, or remember any of us)] he got aggressive. I was there some times, he would yell at my grandma often, he would start yelling and throwing things. One moment I remember is he almost wrecked the car on purpose because he wasn’t allowed to drive and he wanted to make a point with me and my grandma in the car, he didn’t want to go to a nursing home. He already had anger issues and trauma due to his father, Alzheimer’s made it worse. This was over 8 years ago, truly truly sad.

    The way Meredith hid behind the corner in the beginning is is very child-like, but I say that as a good thing. It’s a callback to how Meredith was treated as a child since Ellis cared more about surgery than her daughter. Meredith’s character was completely vulnerable, embarrassed, and probably even afraid in this scene because her big secret is out.

    • @croguy
      @croguy 7 років тому +67

      Sarah Catherine It just goes to show that no matter how good your writing is, if it is executed by actors who can't replicate that magic that was there at the beginning of the show, it is simply not the same show. Grey's so boring these days and Shonda's name became synonymous with mediocrity.

    • @MJroxOXO
      @MJroxOXO 7 років тому +50

      I couldn't agree with you more. They can't replicate what was first there but it's not their fault. It mostly falls on Shonda. She took the magic away. It's definitely getting boring and repetitive, and Shonda is becoming pretty mediocre

    • @croguy
      @croguy 7 років тому +20

      At one point, being roommates with your colleagues is just story-line stuffing. It feels more like daily soap than the show I used to love. Personally, I think Christina Yang took that show to another level and Meredith's character was a pleasure to watch because they were playing off of eachother and somehow that translated into chemistry. Just look at Christina and Owen's scenes together. It was riveting, Now you have scenes where comedic timing is always missing a beat, incoherent storylines (one story line gets started and we see a continuation of it few episodes after) and while one hopes for a depiction of maturity and wisdom as they evolve, the characters seem to get more and more childish. I am watching it currently beacuse of April and Eliza Minnick. It's a completely different show now than it was when it started, but slowly it has run its course.

    My mother is a busy doctor, and definitely not on the level that the Ellis Grey character was at. However, there are some things that Ellis says that trigger me and make me tear up a bit. I’m like Meredith where I say “I’m fine” a lot and feel like I won’t measure up to my mother’s work ethic. Everyone has some sort of busy working parent. I hope many can relate to hearing certain things as a child that makes you feel like they are too busy for you. I’m an adult now, but funny how it stays with you.

All my life I’ve heard nothing but “you must be nothing but the best, how do you expect to get into med school” I’m surrounded by doctors and every single one of them had made me feel like I *need* to be a doctor, I told my dad I wanted to run a business and he said it was a stupid dream, being a surgeon “was in my blood” every little thing your parent says to you, doctor or not, it sticks and you somehow never forget it. I remember I would be 8 yrs old with my sister and my mom would have a nurse call and say she was stuck in surgery so we’d have to go to bed without seeing her, at times my dad would do the same thing so we’d be at home by ourselves . My moms excuse when I said she never pays attention to us was “I get to save the life of a kid” she claimed she loved kids but never paid attention to her own.

      I’m sorry you went through that Haley. I can definitely say I know how you feel. No child deserves to think other children are more important. I definitely don’t think they knew what the effect was when they said those things. We can find meaning and pleasure in other occupations. It’s a fact that other jobs are more secure and esteemed, but loving properly people means allowing for individuality and acceptance. Again, sorry for the late reply. I hope you know you are not alone in feeling not good enough or forgotten. It sucks. We can work through it. It’s a challenge, but it will make us stronger to go against the grain. Unfortunately, our parents are in the wrong with their egos. We can still respect them while using this insight to move forward :) Hug!

      Yes, Kate Burton is Elizabeth Taylor's step-daughter, but more to the point - Kate Burton is Richard Burton's DAUGHTER. Talent does run in families.

    I think she named her daughter Ellis because even though Ellis grey was the worst mother ever she was still the only mother she had.

    • @lilyralynxx007
      @lilyralynxx007 3 роки тому

      Because children with absentee or abusive parents often still love them especially if they once had a good relationship with them. They just want their parents to love them like other parents do, so it would make sense that Mer would want to raise her Ellis to be better.
