I learned about using the cover to get out of the map by just playing a lot. I'm sure a lot of other people did too and the speed runners just know that getting out of a map is a good way to skip stuff.

As much as i love how in depth this was, thank god flood bumping is so much easier than shield bumping.

Phillip Grubb wrong. Anniversary graphics looks way worse. Although MCC uses the Gearbox version which is uglier than the original xbox version, anniversary has terrible colors which means everything blends most of the time, especially enemies. Original graphics, although dated, are easier to play with and are way more pleasing

Thank you so much for this guide! I managed to get into the ceiling on my second try (first one dropped me in that room), and I had no trouble jumping to the Keyes room. The hardest part for me was getting through that hallway of Covenant right after the cutscene. To be honest, I found this to be much, much easier than the AotCR Bridge Drop.

Haven't played Halo in a long time. I became a pc gamer. But, I completed Halo 1 to Halo 3 under 3 hours. I did it because of your help. Stopped at Halo 4. But I remember pulling this off. Very helpful video
After you get the bump, you can switch back to Anniversary graphics. You're able to see everything in that mode. Downside: If you're too high above the playable area, you'll see boxes. But you can crouch to get back in.

holy shit the "popcorn flood" thing is what me and my twin used to call them while we grew up in front of the first xbox smashing down halo1 and halo2.. great times wish i could have those back
here is something I find useful , instead of over charging the shield with the PP you can rapidly fire 4 or 5 times with the PP which saves quite some energy instead of the battery of your gun.
TLDR; this makes a long ass mission alot faster, thank you for the tips.
Bad ass, ive been playing since CE on the og xbox and this is the sickest thing ive ever seen. Ive known about speed running for awhile as in watching videos but to see how its done in a game i didnt know was popular for speed running is cool.

I'm on MCC for pc btw. If you reset to the checkpoint and it resets the graphics, switch to pretty mode and look for the sparks. This is the sparks at 6:10. You can look to the right and just yolo it, but you'll be able to see the geometry you're supposed to land on. From there, I can see Keyes and just jump all the way to his room
this is by far the hardest trick to do in halo. but it is very satisfying when u managed to pull it off. thanks eli! i hope that i can get a good run on keyes on legendary.

I noticed if you switch out of ugly mode when you're in the black void part, you can actually see were you're going
you can tell which bits you're supposed to land on when you crouch to see through the purple blocks
Here's what made things so much easier for me. Now I can get it maybe after 3 tries. I'm not an expert but here's what I do. I record me doing it over and over again. First I make sure I look completely straight down. If you aren't looking completely straight down, it won't work. Now line up your top most arrow with the vertical glowing line thing on the shield pad. Make sure it's absolutely perfectly lined. Do that for each attempt. Now keeping that rotation, do the thing he says to do once you get it once. Memorize that based on the recording you recorded of you doing it. Hope this makes sense. In other words, line it up perfectly, record you doing it. For me all I focus on is the top arrow and the bottom left arrow. Here's how mine works on my screen:
1) look completely down
2) rotate until the top arrow exactly lines up on top of the white line. And I mean exactly.
3) keeping rotation from 2, line up the bottom left arrow with a specific purple dot somewhere in the center so that it is about 3/4 down the arrow and half way sticking out. If I get that on my screen, I guarantee it'll work.
Works in 2019
I just got lucky and pulled this off to beat Keyes in under ten minutes. Definitely glad I watched this!
Look up "Keyes Flood Bump", same end result but a lot faster. Beat the level in 2:45 doing that skip.

Thx so much , Got it down after 45 min, i didnt jump as much tho on the jumping backwards blind part, i kind of found an angle and walked a good bit of it except when i thought i was near the door then i jumped through it. Gotta play around and feel it out, but wuldnt have done it without this video. Did it on xbox one master chief collection so anyone saying its patched its not
Overall it took me like 2hours and when I did the bump I did it in 39 minutes
Bruh I was in a leadership camp for year 9 and we had to sit back to back and tell eachother where to put straws to make the same shape, I tried to make a house and she ended up making some greek letter or some shit. Point is, u got the good use of prepositions bruh, respect

Alexander Ruiz I think the reason is is that gearbox made some changes to the HUD, also the the fact that they changed the HUD in Anniversary could also be a factor (obviously)

I was able to do it once by complete accident. I haven't been able to do it since. What I think would be really helpful is go into paint and draw arrows where we are suppose to stand. Also I'm confused about different resolution screens.

I got the initial shield bump literally the first time, and the backwards jumping part 2nd time, took me 7 minutes total. Feeling very lucky. However I almost feel I deserved such luck since I've been sliding off the rock attempting the assault on the control skip for 2 or 3 hours...

Lmao.... I've never understood how people can rationally argue subjective opinion. You can say you preferred the original in all your fanboyism. But the fact is. Not only is the geometry upgraded. But there's far more detail. It's your opinion that the old one is better. Just so we are clear, there is a reason why halo ce doesnt need a graphic card (by today's standards) and the new graphics require a two gig card at least.

*a tip for anyone doing this.....
I dont think this is the hardest trick in all of halo....cuz I can pull it off. The h4 button jump is what comes to mind as the most difficult. I can jump out of the map here, but Joker's tutorial (10 hour H1, 2, ODST, and 3 video) seems to have him land on the first floor whereas I end up on the corner of the room on the second floor, in the same place eli winds up. Problem is, I get lost once I'm up there. However i HAVE made it over to keys a few times, i just haven't figured out a good route over there. I line up my plasma reticle in the same spot as eli and it bumps me out pretty often. Im having to use a combination of both your guys' instructions to get over there. Each time I try Eli's jump straight over there, I fall off the map into a black and green abyss and what sucks is: the game doesn't like to reload the map after that. It will load up missing whole parts of the map and I have to try a combination of crouching and switching between classic and anniversary graphics and usually I must jump back inside the map and kill myself with grenades and then the next reset checkpoint will load the map. Anyway thanks! 🤪
*What I did find that helps quite a bit, when I've gotten myself bumped up there in under a 2 to 3 minutes with a checkpoint...... I can screw around falling off the map for 4 or 5 minutes and then when I've wasted to much time, I press the Xbox button on my controller to bring up the xbox menu and select MCC by pressing the Menu button (start button) and choose Quit....when I restart MCC and Resume mission, it starts me back at my checkpoint with only 2 or 3 minutes on the clock. Maybe that's obvious but it helped out a lot and allowed me as much time as I wanted for screwing around up there, learning my way around.

I find it easier to flood bump on this mission. You get the pet flood to follow you where you started, then get him in the corner. Shoot it with the AR so that it becomes a reviver, and bump yourself across the wall.
