I'm in the platoon that he once commanded. There is a memorial for him on the summit of the hill above our little corner of Camp Pendleton which we often run to for our morning PT. His legacy still lives with us, his infamous half-pipe run where we run up, across, and down the ridgeline to the west of the barracks and then over to, up across and down the hills to the east. I wish I could have been on that last deployment with him. 3/5 Get Some
65 months later we have the most amazing 2016 and a new Administration in the USA and also like minded huge changes in Europe. Humanity proves itself to be very very idealistic and with CLASS.
Lt. Gen Kelly was my Captain in India Co. 3/4 in 84/85. I was a Beirut Vet when I got to his company. I had more awards than him but he was a tough SOB. We went down South during the whole Contra era. We had live ammo but never ran into anything threatening. What is the deal with that one comment on here with the profanity? Is that a Marine speaking like that? Who is trying to be something that they are not? This must be some Poolie saying this.
I thought you were just trying to look cool or something saying you knew him, like countless of other people always do. I just had a motard moment. So, how long were you at Camp Lejeune with the 24th?
