i installed this but my idrive didnt work correctly, it sometimes worked and sometimes didnt, i didnt get any help for what do to and they dont take it back now..
I have the same unit.. But original harman kardon amplifier does not work together with android..auxillery sound is flat and no bass.. Original radio is perfect. When will there be an update to this unit so it can take full advantage of the stereo.. It's abit antique to wire an 3.5mm aux cable to armrest?.. Update: The android unit needed an software update DSP works now ;)

Why would you want to replace your OEM head unit to a lagging android thing? At least if your idrive work fine after this you are lucky. Last thing, turn the ignition off before working on electronic things

There is a split on the screen where one part shows fuel level and that sort of impedes the full view when use the vehicle status such that the engine oil level reading is cut off the screen. Can anyone help with how to solve this and have full view of the vehicle status just as it shows on the oem?
So you take it apart, put a gps antenna and some other wires in it, put it back together and now has touch screen? What was actually changed? Video doesnt say or show. ???
Thanks for the vid. I had installed my device without the fibre cable part which I saw after on your video. Is this necessary? As I'm getting no sound even from my parking sensors. Also some buttons on idrive and system not doing anything although I connected everything apart from fibre cable. Did anyone have the same issue? Thanks in advance
This issue heave solution. Enter factory settings, password 1314, resolution select full screen display, or choose the model of the car from this menu. I finally found the correct set-up and now i am happy with the android. Good luck.
I installed similar unit on my 2010 F07, 1GB ram myself from other supplier. I downloaded a memory cleaner apps and do cleaning once a week. It Is still working perfectly after one and half year. Resolution is crisp and sharp. Sound quality is inferior compares to ori as it is using Aux source. Overall it is good.

So what's the upside? I mean my factory unit in my f10 will bluetooth to my phone, has GPS, internal storage, plays DVD's and all that jazz. What exactly do you gain with an android head unit?

The iDrive brightness control is fixed at 5 (50%) and can neither be increased nor decreased. Do anyone have that problem?

u need to hook up the auxiliary cable into your auxiliary port in ur car in order to get sound from utube and apps

fiber cable is needed to be swapped or those functions will not work.

the ues ， no need connect the AUX cable , but when sound come out from the android unit , it will switch to AUX
