Seeing the Douro Valley by train is truly mesmerizing, and your video captures it perfectly. If you’re ever interested in exploring more stunning train journeys around the world, we’d be delighted to help you plan your next adventure. Keep sharing these wonderful experiences!
So much going on! The sound of that diesel as it powers up; the abandoned track, turntables and steam locomotives; a carriage window that you can open and put a camera out; the sound of the wagon wheels going over the rail joints. It's a huge contrast from your usual fare of fast, well facilitated intercity and international train services. Very enjoyable!
This is a line I know all too well and fortunate most of my work is in the Upper Douro where getting by car is much harder than the train. The train hasn't changed since the late 70's, before then it was still steam. It's a trip well worth doing but bear in mind it can get very busy in the summer, also I strongly suggest to go as far as Pocinho. Many stop at Régua or Pinhão. There is also a steam train that runs in the summer between Régua & Tua. If going to Pocinho & back there are a couple cafe's to grab lunch but be quick as it gets very busy. Otherwise there is really nothing at Pocinho. For the model railway enthusiasts there is a model of this locomotive and carriages made by Sudexpress models.
I have been on a river cruise on the Douro which was absolutely delightful. Your video has been a lovely opportunity to relive the experience. By boat or by train, a wonderful journey.
This is a fabulous video, thanks for making it. I was in Porto in early spring, but only for a day... we are dying to go back and make this trip! Thanks also for NOT putting cheesy free music or computer-generated narration, I can't stand that stuff.
Absolutely fantastic video, and the price is very good. Love the journey a must-see in porto now love the city and get to get anywhere from porto. Thank you. 🇵🇹🤝🇬🇧.
What a great trip. The scenery is beautiful, the mountain/hill sandwiches the river. Something interesting to see is plenty of river cruise, from small into big ship passing the river.
The Douro line never let's a train person down. Saddly the sound came out noisy, the sound of the V8 Turbo Diesel engine echoing along the valley is glorious, you must try.
All the extra platforms you can see at Regua (-12.26) are for the now sadly abandoned metre gauge railway and just beyond in the old goodsshed is a restaurant where you can get a table in an old truck
Castas e Pratos restaurant, I just installed evaporative cooling system for their outdoor area. Lovely place for food, good wine and view to the trains. The steam train that runs in the summer departs right in front of it.
You should’ve travelled in the front coach, most likely filled with British railway enthusiasts enjoying the Portuguese version of the English Electric Class 20! Great video. 👍
Sounds that take you back 40 years, English Electric and all.....to a time when the train manager wouldn't be bollocking you to get your head inside the window like the last years of MK2s and 3s in UK...

Beautiful scenery. Just beautiful. I loved the riverboat just squeezing through. Might you do something about the wind noise next time? Cheers.
Portuguese trains, and stations are beautiful.
Such great footage ! Thanky ou very much for putting it here. I did not imagine the Douro of such importance. It is large !
Thank you for a beautiful video through some! wonderful scenery.
Outstanding Seat 61, thanks!
My favourite journey to do in Europe!
Spectacular trip. You know how to pick them. Lovely video as well. Thanks.

You can always turn off the sound and hear the noise of the train in your head!
@@rosemarycs1 either that, or buy a ticket and go. To have a nice lunch in Régua or Pinhão is very pleasant as well.
Spectacular scenery.

@cotochris yes can definitely recommend!
Love it! Took a river cruise and sadly didn't get a chance to go on the train.
This looks like spring; probably best time to go, summer is too hot!
It was 6 weeks ago
Lovely journey, Mark.
Filmed with? Thanks!

Beautiful trip 🙂😉👍
Seems like a great routefor cycling too👍🚂🇳🇱🇳🇱🇪🇺
Porto? On a damp day the lovely smell from the port houses? Not to be missed.
Sounds that take you back 40 years, English Electric and all.....to a time when the train manager wouldn't be bollocking you to get your head inside the window like the last years of MK2s and 3s in UK...
Great vid! I somehow thought this line was electrified. Will I be smelling diesel exhaust the entire trip?
Not much of the Doura valley itself is electrified but mainline from Porto is
No - I didn't smell any at all. But the sound effects were great...
It's just so fast ... about 60km/hour.
Stopped watching after a few mins I’m afraid . Sound was such poor quality.🤨
What sound? Clickety clack?
Think you may needs hearing test.
Say the country name or don't upload videos.
Well it is close to to where he ended the last video and had you checked like I did you will know Porto is in Portugal
He CLEARLY states in the Description where it is..
@@Shello58Portugal name not mentioned in description. It would be useful if it was mentioned in thumbnail.
Most people know where it is
They have a thing in Portugal, or actually lots of places, called Google.
