- In 1985 Sean McCague's Monaghan team would prove to be the only Ulster side to go the distance with Mick O'Dwyers great Kerry teams of the 70's and 80's. Watch the full match footage of their epic drawn encounter, including highlights of Monaghan's Ulster championship campaign en route to Croke Park.
I remember that match . 1985 both All Ireland Semi Finals ended in a draw the first time since 1955 when it was kerry v Cavan and Dublin v Mayo. Dublin and Kerry won the replays as they did in 1985 and Kerry won the All Ireland in 55 and 85😊
Wish football was played like that today. Monaghans second point. Great direct passing and execution. Mc Eneany,s pressure free even the mighty current best long distance free taker would be proud.
Great match was there 👏
At 53:00 minutes Eoin Liston scores the equalising point for Kerry, and immediately the commentator Ger Canning informs us that he had scored 2-6 for Clare the previous Sunday in a GAA game in New York, yet no sanction or suspension for Liston. The GAA’s application of their rules was laughable in the 1980’s.
Great game ,, crazy though how much ball was kicked away....
Monaghan so unlucky…every time they have a great team coincided with other fantastic teams just like the past 10 years as well
That Kerry team could dig out a win.
Great match can you upload the replay and the 1979 match of kerry v Monaghan tkd
That's real football not the shit we have now
