In this sort of situation I recommend a few things. 1) when they shout, be silent and just wait for them to stop. 2) only speak in questions, it will leave them with the act of deciphering. 3) when they speak fast, speak slowly. 4) when they rush, take long pauses to force then to listen, making it clear to everyone who is actually listening and considering things. By opposing their dynamic rather than joining them in it, you will become separate from them and your arguments will be heard. They simply do not know how to debate and are clearly not interested in truth. Stick to facts and reason, avoid emotion at all costs because that is what they are feeding on.

The idea that we can eliminate suffering by not eating animals is incorrect; just because we aren't eating the gazelle, doesn't mean the lion won't or the bacteria won’t. The idea that flora are not sentient is also incorrect. As well, we’ve built up massive herds of livestock for hundreds of years, engineered them to depend on our care and support -what are we supposed to do, just let them all go? Humans have evolved along with their consumption of both animal proteins, fats, and plant carbohydrates. Maybe one day we can evolve beyond animal protein, but that is assuming we survive on this planet long enough to make it there. Right now we've got 3-5 hundred thousand years. Dinosaurs put in 165 million. Maybe if we make it that long, we can evolve to sit around and chew on celery and quinoa. We must accept the fact that flora and fauna are the inherently the same kingdom, and that it’s simply far too difficult to produce a healthy human being without animal based complete protein.

Humans have evolved along with their consumption of both animal proteins, fats, and plant carbohydrates. Maybe one day we can evolve beyond animal protein, but that is assuming we survive on this planet long enough to make it there. Right now we've got 3-5 hundred thousand years. Dinosaurs put in 165 million. Maybe if we make it that long, we can evolve to sit around and chew on celery and quinoa. We must accept the fact that flora and fauna are the inherently the same kingdom, and that it’s simply far too difficult to produce a healthy human being without animal based complete protein.

You lose control of the listeners at those events when you start answering too many questions from too many different people. Again it's always easier your voice an opinion when you're not at the event and you're just on the outside watching.
