It’s amazing that something as logical as a straight insert of the portafilter is only new technology in 2022. All these digitised enhancements and other innovations are awesome but getting the workflow streamlined just seams like such a logical thing and something that can be easily adopted across other manufacturers. Also, that Aremde is stunning. Draw back the curtains and enjoy the show pretty much sums it up too.
Yeh I love when he said that about drawing back the curtains! So true. I agree, the straight in portafilters should be on every machine! I don't know why it hasn't caught on (these videos were actually from 2019) because it makes a lot of sense. Maybe they just weren't very reliable in the long run. I'll actually raise the question when I talk to La Marzocco this month.
Oh absolutely!! I actually asked Rempt when he was going to make one because I would have bought it right then and there. Unfortunately, still no single group in the pipeline. 😥
Yeh the modbars are really nice too, but they still block the view of the extraction for customers. You know how captivating it can be watching the shot drop, I wished more machines showed this off. Yeh, interestingly the KB90 just didn't take off like I thought it was going to. I really had high hopes for that machine. I'll have to wait until 2029 when they release their 100 year anniversary model 😂👌
@@Rydecoffeecoach very true! Mod bar does block The view Look it’s a stunning piece of machinery I do think it will be the way of the future. 😂 yes the lm pb90 will have to wait I guess people are over the typical LM style of huge heavy machines
Hey Ryd. We just bought a KB90, waiting to be delivered. Working on a Linea Classic so far so we don’t know what to expect in terms of Straight In.,Did you talked with the guys from LM about the feedback they had on KB90? I’m thinking that one of the reasons KB didn’t take off could be the price..
Yeh I personally love the idea of the KB90 straight in, I also asked the guys at MICE about them and people do love them. But people have complained about the in-built scales that aren't great to work with. Not sure if you got them but if not, just use external scales.
@@Rydecoffeecoach Yeah, then i think i was inspired by taking without ABR. We just bought an extra ACAIA for a fraction of the cost of ABR so we will see. :)
Oh yeh it's my absolute favourite cup. You can get it from millydent.com/ but also check out Donna Saunders as she has some lovely cups too donnasaunders.com.au/
Thanks Peter! Oh you should see some of Kees Van Der Westen concept machines, google them, they are like alien spacecrafts but I think most of them actually do work. I'm not sure I'm ready to release those interviews 😂😂 my interviewing skills were not so good back then. I'll treat you with new and much better ones at MICE next month. 👌
I really like screens on a machine, i.e. how Bezerra uses one instead of a manual gauge and setting adjustments. Have to say the Astoria looked like a lower quality screen but the worst screen is on the VBM machines, would prevent me from buying, its so bad. He put you on the spot and had you pull a shot, saw the hand shaking there 😂.
😂😂 totally! I didn't know what I was doing with that machine. I literally had just seen it for the first time and the screen was filled with just icons. Talk about stressful! 😂
The Astoria Storm is terribly unreliable. I’ve had twofold about 3 years. One died mid-last year, and the second died just recently. It is either the circuit board or the main computer. Even tech support has not been able to figure it out. There is something to be said for the LM Classic S.

They've actually had straight in for ages. Just hadn't put it on a commercial model. Only concept machines
OMG I want a single group Aremde!
Oh absolutely!! I actually asked Rempt when he was going to make one because I would have bought it right then and there. Unfortunately, still no single group in the pipeline. 😥
I would get the Aremde that's the best looking machine.
Yes it is!
Very impressive machines!
Kb90 looks like most reliable a
But the Aremde reminds me of MOD bar

@@Rydecoffeecoach thank you my friend
Also, doesn't Decent allow for temp adjustments mid shot iirc? I heard you mention Ranchilio was the first to do that, maybe I'm wrong.
Yep you're right, I thought Rancilio were the first (that's what they claimed) but maybe Decent did it first. Great question!

That iberital is ugly!
Yeh it's definitely not the nicest machine I've used 😂 Smart, but too boxy.
