What's the sport called where the tiny children try to ride the sheep.? 'Mutton Bbustin'... i've only been to 2 rodeos, but that competition i found enjoyably.
I so agree with Dave. Those rodeo clowns are the unsung heros at the rodeo events. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't bull riding come about from a bunch of cowboys getting a bit too bored? "Hay Clem....I bet you 20 bucks you can't stay on ol mean Bruno for 8 seconds."
It started in Mexico but I think the idea is the same, bored cowboys daring each other to do dumb stuff or one looking at another after a day of ribbing and says "Hey Juan, if I ride that bull for 8 seconds you have to shut up all day tomorrow, followed by hold my tequila" and a sport is born.
Going out in public is dangerous. Driving a car kills many a day. It's all relative. And these riders choose to do so and take what precautions available for safety. Loved watching with you men. Enjoyed your comments.
As a rider myself that isnt very good. A lot of us just do it for fun as a hobby. Even my dad and his dad did it too and i even have their old riding spurs. But yea its just fun with some risk
The origin of rodeo goes back to a group of bored cowboys (anywhere people and cows share space) with the cowboys bragging about how good they are at the skills needed. If you think bull riding is dangerous hunt up a video of bull dogging. They release a bull and the cowboy rides up alongside of it, jumps onto the bull and wrestles it to the ground. Fastest one wins. About your statement about people getting hurt. The participants do get hurt and occasionally one gets killed. However just like anyone who participates in a contact sport even if you aren’t seriously hurt you are going to feel it for the rest of your life. Bull riders are usually young men and after they are done with the bulls a lot of them will get other events that aren’t as physical to allow them to still participate in rodeo. Where I grew up there were a lot of pro-am riders hoping to get the big break or fading out but not done yet. When they stopped riding the bulls they would go into team roping usually but a few of them went riding to being a rodeo clown or as these guys called them, bull fighters.
Bulls are at risk of injury whilst in the chute, when released, during and after bucking. Injuries include cuts, abrasions, bruising, muscle strains and bone fractures. In December 2017, a bull suffered a broken leg and had to be euthanased during an event in Adelaide. In early 2018, two bulls were euthanased at a Queensland hotel rodeo event due to leg fractures suffered upon release from the chute and another bull was euthanased due to a leg fracture at a rodeo school in Rockhampton. Furthermore, at some venues, bulls are also subjected to very loud noises and pyrotechnics amid clapping and cheering which can all contribute to increased fear. A comparative study has shown that over 70% of bucking bulls showed muscle and bone injuries. Bucking bulls were 13 times more likely to have a spinal disorder than non-bucking bulls and they were more likely to develop horn disorders.
I heard the association is now implementing more rules for the protection of the bulls because they are actually more important to the sport than riders. Riders are a dime a dozen, good bulls are hard to breed and hard to keep healthy.
@@VadulTharys What's wrong with you for even thinking that? They are slaves of humans being exploited for entertainment against their will. Only humans can choose to be athletes!
This has to be the world's most dangerous sport! The riders must like the danger. It's not a question of IF you'll get hurt. It's a question of WHEN and HOW BAD! I'm not big on pain, , , so I'll take a pass!
As a big bull riding fan, I have to admit that the rides shown in this video were very frightening. However, most riders do not get hurt, and most injuries are not serious.
Every rider gets hurt at some point, it’s not a when it’s how bad, but it’s an addiction, me or any of my friends love it more than anything, one of my friends broke his whole shoulder. You’re bound to get stomped at some point.
Is it more cruel that eating meat from grocery stores? Where they work with companies who breed animals just for slaughter? Many of them living horrible lives? No one blinks an eye at that
This "sport" amounts to animal abuse. While the bull is immobilized in the confines of the chute they tighten the strap that is around the animal's stomach, close to its genitals. The bull rider is on the bull and the chute is opened. The bull comes out charging, bucking and bouncing wildly, because of the pain from the cinched strap. It's no wonder at such a reaction. You would buck and twist, too, if someone cinched a strap like that around you in such a tender area! Abusive! Yet, it's a spectacle put on to show how "tough" and daring these riders are and the clown characters are who serve to distract an angry bull from trampling or goring a rider who has been thrown off. Horrible! This event should have been banned long ago!
As a bull rider I can tell you thay every single thing you just said is wrong. The flank rope or "strap" when referred to bucking horses, is a thin cotton braided rope that is fitted around the flanks (belly) of the bull with enough slack for it to be kicked off. Usually it's the stock contractor that "flanks" his own bull, they choose how the rope goes to make the bull buck differently. One thing about the flank rope is it is never tied too tight. If that were the case the bull would not buck, which defeats the purpose of the flank rope, a common misconception is that it is tied around the genital area, but I can assure you that any man with their genitals tied would not be able to move at all.
@@der_black_barongaming8158 I never said a strap was tied around their genitals. Near is cruel enough. Making a bull or a horse buck at all is abusive, as the flank rope or strap obviously is quite uncomfortable for the animal. All for the spectacle. It is a cruel and unnecessary practice that is no sport. Wake up. I'm certain you can find some kind of work that does not cause distress and pain to an animal for "entertainment." Real men don't need to prove their toughness in such a callous way.
@@Sometimes-even-lyrical again, don't speak on subjects you don't know. The flank rope isn't doing anything more than impulsing the bull to buck better. These bulls are selected and trained based on their performance, they aren't "forced", it's something that they do because it's in their nature. When you get around these bulls long enough you find out they have their own personalities and quirks too. They love it just as much as we do. Also, personally I don't ride bulls to prove that I'm tough or a man. I do it for the love of the sport and to prove to myself that I can face my own fears and conquer them.
@@Sometimes-even-lyrical p.s. I also stated that it was a common misconception, never said that you stated it. Although you did state the flank strap is tightly set near the genitals, which is also wrong. It's snug, enought to where you can see and inch or two of slack. Also, it's on their flank which is their belly, about a 6 inches or more away from thwir genitals.
The "clowns" are the real heroes. They protect the rider from the bull after they are down.
They've got BIGGER stones than I do.
I love when people from other countries learn about our country and I would love to learn more about them

8:01 - And I'll say it again!
The Cowboys are professional but so are the bulls. This is their job and they know it.
They risk it for millions of dollars,I there's also bronc riding as well and barrel racing
It's not a bull pulling a cart. That's an ox (a bull that was castrated which changes its temperament). Bulls are more dangerous.
I guess when you try to buy medical insurance you can't tell them you are a bull rider!
Oh, you gotta take these guys to a rodeo. I would love to see that.
Eye to eye is not , i repeat not , where you want to be , when the other eye is a 2 thousand pound bull yall , truth !!!!!

And yes Americans are crazy 🤣🤣
