CGC is usually on top of any manufacturing defects and will omit that defect from grading that particular book to retain a 9.8 candidacy. Happens all the time with split spine blank sketch covers from Marvel and some perfect bound editions.
Yeah, printers don't give a crap about keeping everything "pristine". And I'm not sure they can. They are there to print books so stuff gets tossed and shuffled. Inevitably, you will get scratches on that type of book and printing defects. That stuff may or may not get taken into account through a grading service, I don't know. I subscribe to ComicTom just for the top 10 lists and to laugh at some of their attempts to influence the market.
You both handled it well. Fireguy Ryan is my favorite of their group. He has always given me good recommendations in what to read and I respect his views.
I'm going to watch the first video about your issue next. Sounds like great customer service. Sucks that we have to accept manufacturer's flaws, but I know that this has been a thing for years. Often times CGC and other grading services are aware of these common flaws. Sometimes not. I had recently received a Batman and Robin #1 New York City Comic Con exclusive logo foil virgin variant that had spine ticks pretty much all the way down. I don't believe it happened in shipping, and the book was sent to me straight after it was purchased by the seller from the con. He explained to me that this was common on many foil books. Even still, he sent me a pristine copy free of charge. It's just funny how some in the batch are effected and some are not. I imagine they print x number of issues per "batch." Or however many they can print before changing out cartridges, cleaning equipment, etc.
Those are incredibly minor defects. Seems like you're upset about getting 9.6's delivered to you... and over reprints... meh. Just saying, sometimes content for the sake of content is counterproductive.
I'm glad my "North Korea ish" line made it into the video 😂 😳 Thanks for all the kind words man! And thanks for not thinking I was weird when I randomly asked to call you out of nowhere haha
Aww a 9.6, how dare he. It’s your fault for trusting the USPS and the people handling your books when getting orders. If you want a 9.8 so bad, go to a shop and physically check it out for yourself. I think NO ONE should be complaining about getting anything above a 9.0. But I guess you I’m a humble collector. CGC also makes horrible decisions on grading. + comic Tom has wack new age woke books that are gonna be worthless in 20 years so good luck hunting.
I watched the first video, and you weren't too happy. You can see it in your face. That's fine if it's the printer. Of course it is. What else would it be. The issue is that you paid for a product that you expected no issues with. I wouldn't be okay with it. I'm sure there are some without scratches.
@@berkfamily54 you didn’t have an issue with comic Tom at all. You had an issue with product you purchased. And he was able to show you that your purchase of the product he was selling wasn’t his fault. But the fault of the publisher manufacturing the product. And im not sure how you didn’t come to that conclusion to begin with seeing as you purchase so many comics. Hell if you look at Marvel and idw comics they break color and have spine ticks half of the time they are released. But I’m not blaming going around blaming the comic store I’m buying from.
Comictom is the dude that used to be on cable TV selling on those paid program selling junk like your buying a Michelangelo.
yeah dude what is that? is the dude wired like that all the time, is it just an act, or is he on drugs
“Give me an excuse to send you worthless books”
I love how you always resolve your issues with whoever it is and you keep her very positive tone. Thank you for sharing.❤❤
I have seen these defects on copies that come through our shop.....

Glad you got a response. Good luck with the grades.
Great service from Tom's. I can see how a material like that might scratch easily.
Absolutely!
Comic Tom is good. The dude with the blond hair on his shows is the most knowledgeable comic person I’ve ever seen

Why weren't these manufacturing defects noted in the listing?

Love Tom. Ryan is one of the good ones alright. 🎩
I bought mystery box for over six months. I thought books always arrived minty and well taken care of, I just wasn’t interested in the books.
I would love to get books from, Comic Tom again and maybe I will do that. I WOULD love to get a few 9.9 issues someday.
Great discussion and wonderful customer service. Sounds like an unfortunate printing error and you gotta ignore the haters. 😊😊🙏🙏👊👊
Great footage!! Thanks for posting!
Marry him why dontcha!
lol

Can't stand Comic Tom. He and Reggie are shills

lol love you Ryan!
You are clearly evil and difficult to work with. Lol
FYI Ryan is a top bloke.
*I* think you're weird.
@unrulysimian3897 oh most definitely 😂
i bought a $50 foil wolverine last year . thought it would get a 9.8 but came back a worthless 9.6. learned my lesson.
Resubmit it
Worthless...ill take it

His is the human personification of scummy comicbook speculators.
Unfollowing comictom101 was one of the best decisions I made when it comes to comic collecting.
how wtf😂
@@majormonkey8 not being influence by him on how to collect.
modern books are horrible.....the best comic you tube channel is the one where this person doesn't collect modern books at all.
Thanks for watching. I collect modern and bronze silver and more!
8:20 seconds, and it seems like you have zero issues with Tom & everything has handled professionally. Confused by the video name?
It's called click bait, man.
@@codsworth9950 This was the day I learned about Berk, I now have the most of ❤️❤️ and your right with that comment lol.

@@berkfamily54 haha so funny that you know it’s true and that’s all you can say. You’re such a troll.

I would say reach out to them before doing a video
I asked if they wanted either video taken down and they said no
That’s awesome that they are cool with it feedback is always good
You threw those guys under the bus for 20 bucks! 🤦🏻♂️
Did you not watch the video?
I like seeing his top 10 lists BUT he is annoying and creates more and more speculators instead of readers.
Bro ppl just like 2 hate great videos and u like ur honesty u say what you c
When these books are going to cgc right away, keep in mind, they take the best ones and give us the trash. Marvel is even worse.
