First, I’m sorry for your loss. Losing your parents is heartbreaking. And, your dad - it really hurts. ❤ Thank you for this review; it was very eye opening and helpful... as your videos always are.
Lets be honest, unless the price for their food here comes down , which we all know isnt going to happen, most likely this new place is in for trouble.
I go to the Cake Bake in Carmel, IN all he time for special occasions: birthdays, book releases with my hubby or aunt or nieces. It's always magical and special. I get dressed up and have photo ops. That being said, it's hella expensive and the food is only so/so. For this reason, I'll probably pass on visiting the one on the Boardwalk unless I'm already over in that area or walk over from Epcot.
I’ve been to the two locations in Indiana. And when it’s a special occasion, going to cake bake feels so magical, especially for a Midwest girl…I remember when they told us they were opening in Disney. For me, I’ll never go in Disney since there are so many more magical places to go to eat. But I’m happy for the owner and hope others will make magical memories there 💗
I was there last week, and we loved it! Yes, its super expensive, but service is impeccable and atmosphere is stunning. We tried many items on the menu, and wish I had more room to bring home more cake! All in all, I would go back, but I know that it comes with a hefty price tag.
Ok great review as always. But I felt very seen with the carved out discussion on the two tops it always happens to us and I never understand why when so many open tables. We plan on stopping by bakery and we ll probably skip it on our Christmas trip but maybe brunch one time next year.
Hi Dan and Leslie!! So sorry to hear about Leslie's Dad. May his memory be a blessing. Thank you so much for this wonderfully honest review of The Cake Bake Shop. Hubby and I are not fancy eaters and prefer Ice Cream and Cookies over cake. Would rather spend the over $200.00 on a Savanna View room at AKL!! IMHO, a much better value!! Keep these great reviews coming!!
I have been to both locations several times in Indianapolis and they are both fabulous! The service is consistently amazing across all three locations. I highly recommend the half blackberry avocado salad and the half ham and brie sandwich. The choose two value is the best way to go and you still feel full at the end!
Leslie, so sorry to learn of your father's passing. Condolences to you and the family. Thanks for the video...I think if I hadn't eaten anything else, I could in fact finish that slice lol. I'll see one day!
It’s such a wild dichotomy because I love the ambiance of the Grand Floridian and also love Riviera, so on the basis of that, I’m assuming they priced it for a more Luxe feel, however this is likely more expensive than any of the dining experiences and merchandise I’ve seen on property. I could be wrong, but with Grand Floridian cafe, I can get mimosa, breakfast or lunch for less than $40, and I can stop at basin for a soap or bath bomb and still be at $20 for that. So I can come in at $60 without AP discount and that’s Grand Floridian!! Cake bake is situated off Boardwalk and Yacht and Beach and holy moly I’d clock in at $100 simple Food and drink alone. I believe it’s a location that hosts anniversary, celebration or special occasions…so I would do it once or twice a visit
Sounds like another Victoria & Alberts...a one and done. I can see it for a special event; however it should be located near the Grand Floridian and not the Boardwalk.
Nice review. We will be there next week. Seems like the consensus is delicious but pricey. Cake prices seem a bit out of line. Gideons cakes are amazing so we will have to see how these compare
Love your channel! ❤ No to fake flowers on the cake. It’s really very tacky to me! And I think the inside is also a bit, well, not my style. Maybe in person it’s better. She is a baker to the stars, Oprah, so everything makes sense to me. 😅😆
I assume this showed up in my feed as I live in central Indiana and LOVE Cake Bake! Is this an everyday place for me? no. do I love going there? absolutely!! it is pricey at the 2 Indiana locations, but the ambiance is over the top, and the quality of the food is always impeccable. I love taking people here from out of town and their cake decorating classes are super fun. I think as this location goes on, it will all even out and be a top-notch destination at Disney ❤
I’m so sorry about your dad, Leslie!! 😔❤️ As far as the restaurant- it seems this is geared towards larger parties sharing a couple of things. If there is any value to be found in this place, it’d be to grab a group of your friends, share the Burrata, share some cake, have some drinks and call it a day. Split between a few people, maybe it pays off. The portion sizes are just so comically large and it’s all just so friggin expensive, idk if it makes sense for 2 ppl to be able to enjoy it and justify it. If you had 2 more adults with you to share all that food and split the cost…maaaaybe but either way- very unnecessarily expensive.
Thank you for the fair review. I live in Los Angeles and am used to those inflated prices. But I still wont spend my $$ on that. I love you honest and fair assessments.
I love your reviews! You are so right about the 2-top tables being the worst ones in a restaurant. My husband and I have experienced this time and time again. Being sat by the bathroom over and over! We finally have put our foot ( feet) down and refuse to be seated just anywhere the host puts us. They get a little pissy but they’re not our server, so we don’t care anymore. You two have given us much to think about when you do your reviews and reminded us of places that we forgot about. We are DVC owners of the Boardwalk, so we will probably try the Cake Bake Shop but will go into it knowing ahead of time what to expect. Thank you so much!
The cake should not be dense...that is a common misconception. If it is dense then they need to fix the issue. I would NEVER spend $50 on two crabcakes. As far as cake, you can spend $9 and get an amazing slice of Gideons cake 🤷♀️
Leslie, so sorry for your loss. Prayers to you and your family. I agree with Leslie and Dan. The prices are too high. If someone is okay with overpaying that’s fine, but I don’t think the value is there for me. There are better meals around property for the same or lower prices. Dan, Leslie is right. You probably hate to hear that. lol! The pricing at the other stores is similar, if not more. Disney actually stepped in and made them lower their prices, though they didn’t lower them by much. Can’t blame the Mouse for this one. Lol!
I do appreciate they seem to be using quality ingredients and it isn't just a gimmick place. I do think my wife and I could go there and pick carefully, share a few things, and have a nice meal and not totally break the bank .... but that isn't "enough" to get us, as people who visit Disney like once a year, to go out of our way to eat there when there are sooooo many other options.
I hate to be seated next to the silverware preparation place and I’d really hate it for the price of 240 some dollars. Was the music soft enough to talk at your table. I hate loud music and a restaurant where I can’t talk to the people at my table.
I keep hearing about the prices being high. I have to say though that these prices are very much in alignment with other Bistro type restaurants that serve the same fare. This is not going to be your typical IHOP or Denny’s breakfast, this is elevated and I think the price reflects that appropriately.
The meals while expensive are not that much more than some of Disney's other signature dining. But $25 for a slice of cake when you can get an equally large and delicious slice at Gideon's for $9, no thanks. I definitely would pass on the extremely over priced desserts they offer. I might give their crab cakes a try at some point. Definitely a special occasion sort of restaurant and most likely I get the feeling a one and done for me. Unless they're the best crab cakes I've ever eaten just as a $25 cake slice would have to be the best cake I've ever eaten. It's like Space 220 or Beast's Castle. Do it once-soak in the beautiful atmosphere and then go back to my usual favorites. Leslie, so sorry to hear about your loss.
I live near Los Angeles and this is more expensive than most places in L.A. and westlake village and Calabasas. It’s not worth it and there is one “influencer” on instagram who is being belligerent to people commenting on his post saying that $26 for a chicken salad sandwich is too expensive no matter where it’s from. Hey, you can do with your money how you want, folks. But don’t try to say these prices are justified for this kind of food. That’s my $0.02.
I agree as a lifelong Californian who lived in Westlake Village for 38 years before retiring in Central FL two years ago. We never ever saw $22-$26 cake slices anywhere we ate there in SoCal. Not even at Gelson’s. If we had we wouldn’t have bought them.
@ the only thing I can figure is close in price is Italia Deli in Agoura where a large sandwich is now $22 but that is worth it every now and again. Regardless, that’s not par for the course.
You gotta try there 18 dollars eggs for breakfast/brunch lol. The did reduce some of the prices from the original menu but not by much before they opened. Giddeons cake is around 10-12 dollars. Other vloggers have said that it is worth it however some said only once or for special occasions. But yeah the prices are insane.
I dont think this restaurant is that expensive. The cake slices can feed 2-3 people & a normal restaurant would serve half of that for half the price. I thought the food & service was good. I do think this is a special occasion place, but Ive also spent more for less at other Disney restaurants. Also, my condolences for your loss.
We visited there yesterday and were very impressed with the space, decor, newness, brightness and totally turned off by the ridiculous prices. We did however, get a pic of one of the recipes of the cakes they had displayed just as you walk in so that was a plus. It truly is a beautiful place, but sheesh, no way are we going to pay that! By the way, weren’t you guys at a similar service station at Summer House on the Lake? lol
Very sorry for your loss Leslie. I feel terrible that I’m interjecting this after my previous comment because we care about you and Jen and the boys very much. What did your boys think of the food you brought home?
I think this is going to be more of a “special occasion” restaurant, and I do think they will do well if the quality of the food, the service and the environment becomes and/or stays exquisite. I do want to ask and further comment. 1. The portion sizes (including the cake) - they seem large. Sharing would ease the cost, no? 2. How do you feel this is any different than paying for the exorbitant buffet prices - $40 + tax, + tip, for a 4 year old to barely eat mediocre food/ possibly meet a character? Those restaurants seem pretty busy. 3. There are alternatives everywhere. I think this will be more of a “where do I see I’m getting value?” And, value varies with every household. This kind of goes back to the old parental homage, “how do you know if you haven’t tried it?”
Very true. Yes, the cake slices are very shareable. I’m not sure you can compare this experience to a character buffet. I think there are plenty of people that would consider both overpriced and others that would consider them both excellent values for their money.
Condolences on the loss of your father. I have to applaud you on your review. I've watched about ten, and yours is the first critical review of Cake Bake. But, why did you accept that seat???
Thank you. On these reviews, we try to never send anything back or ask for anything different from what we have been given and how we have been treated. We feel like it’s important to let the restaurant shine or fail and review them based off of that experience. Sure, if a drink is not balanced or there is a rude waiter or a bad table or a dish is too salty, we can ask for something different. But, we don’t feel like that would make for a genuine review.
There are no reservations yet, it is a waiting time. Disney has not opened it on the My Disney Experience App. Cake reviews is difficult because you can easily discourage other people from trying others simply by your review of a selected one. The mint for instance is not rich and as chocolate and can be eaten fully without being full. The quality isn't just the salt, is everything especially the European Butter used in everything. Splitting the cost by two you would pay half of $25 or $22. Disney isn't cheap either. Price reacting is one thing, but what is in it that your eating that qualifies it or not is another.
Please don’t comment with incorrect information. You can get reservations through Open Table now. MDE reservations will be open soon according to the host.
Wow! The table location! That gets a zero for me even if there were no other tables, but add to that. Completely thoughtless. I’d be angry! Love your honesty. These things matter. Greedy to me.
This should have opened at the Grand Floridian and no one would have said a word about the prices. I think they are evolving from the Coney Island Boardwalk to the Hamptons Boardwalk. This place is not meant for everyone. But it looks just beautiful and I'm sure the quality and service are top notch. If you have to look at the prices, this place is not for you. LOL
When Disney charges $450 for a single day Lightning Lane Pass, there really is no ceiling any more. It's all funny-money to them. And I love the fact that they sell shirts with the name of the restaurant on them. Wearing one just advertises the fact that you have no common sense. Might as well sell t-shirts that say "I'm With Stupid. -->"
lol, I think maybe you’re missing the entire point of a review. Sure, we could correct them on everything we don’t like and send things back and demand changes and then rate them 5 stars. But, then we would just have a bunch of videos that are all 5 stars with misrepresentations of the actual experience we got or what you, the viewer, could expect when you go 🤷♂️
Just to put it in context. For $242 you can almost buy 2 ENTIRE beef filets at Sams or Costco. America's Test Kitchen said it was the best. That is roughly 30 servings of beef tenderloin (filet mignon). BTW, crab cakes on the Outer Banks, with crab right out of the water is nowhere near $50. All the glitter that everyone is so impressed with is under $4 at Walmart. Nonetheless, I hope people that go enjoy it. Vacations should be super fun.
I own high end pastry shop and I sell a slice for $12.99 I use almond top chocokate and no $23 plus gratuity plus tax plus plus no it’s not. I will dine there try her products but it’s high end. I will say u r paying for service the tupper wear to go the service the uniforms the decorations u r paying for atmosphere is what I think. She’s done great job let tge market speak. To dine at Disney at ohana for example is $220 for two people plus gratuity so it’s in line and with Disney and ohana bad service and no atmosphere no pretty stuff to see.
They are not "complaining". They are "reviewing". (And for our benefit, I might add.) It is impossible to write/post or vlog a critical review and point out shortcomings without sounding like complaining. It is endemic to the process.
Ok great review as always. But I felt very seen with the carved out discussion on the two tops it always happens to us and I never understand why when so many open tables. We plan on stopping by bakery and we ll probably skip it on our Christmas trip but maybe brunch one time next year.
Leslie, so very sorry to hear about your dad’s passing. May the angels come down to greet him and take him home to his heavenly reward. Hugs.
I’m so sorry about losing your father Leslie. My dad’s been gone for a while now. It’s very surreal at first. Lots of hugs your way.
I recently went and really enjoyed it! I didn’t order anything you guys did and also had a great table location! Millionaire cake is 😋
First, I’m sorry for your loss. Losing your parents is heartbreaking. And, your dad - it really hurts. ❤
Thank you for this review; it was very eye opening and helpful... as your videos always are.
Sorry for your loss Leslie ! And happy Veterans Day to Dan!
We’ve been put at tables like and we’ve just told them, “No way. Please seat us at a comfortable location.”
Lets be honest, unless the price for their food here comes down , which we all know isnt going to happen, most likely this new place is in for trouble.
Appreciate you reviewing it for us!
Thank you..😊

Praying for you Leslie and your Dad I will light a candle for him and you and your Mom at Mass on Thursday. Praying healing and peace 🙏💕🙏

Keep these great reviews coming!!
lol, agreed
So sorry for your loss. Love and prayers
I have been to both locations several times in Indianapolis and they are both fabulous! The service is consistently amazing across all three locations. I highly recommend the half blackberry avocado salad and the half ham and brie sandwich. The choose two value is the best way to go and you still feel full at the end!
Sorry for your loss. Lots of hugs 💚

The Grand Floridian would be a perfect location for it!
Nice review. We will be there next week. Seems like the consensus is delicious but pricey. Cake prices seem a bit out of line. Gideons cakes are amazing so we will have to see how these compare
Think you are right. We will give one slice takeaway to share a go, just to experience ot I think x

Awwhh I am very sorry for your loss, my condolences to you and your family.
Honest review. I still want to try it for myself. The decor itself sold me on the place! I'll just have to save my pennies 😂❤
Sorry to hear your dad’s passing. Sending our sincere condolences.
Leslie I love your shirt. Besides being my favorite color. Love your videos!!!
After watching your review and others on UA-cam I will not be eating there. Far to expensive for what you get. Thank you for this great review.
I assume this showed up in my feed as I live in central Indiana and LOVE Cake Bake! As far as the restaurant- it seems this is geared towards larger parties sharing a couple of things. I'll check it out but too pricey. 😮 Prayers for you & yours. ❤ So sorry for your loss of your dad 🙏
Y'know... rye is my preferred old fashioned as well.
That table location is SUCH a bummer for fine dining prices.
Thanks for a helpful review.
Thanks for watching

Why would you not ask to have a better table. Also if the cake was dry why did you not ask for another slice
So sorry for your loss 🙏🏻
Leslie, so sorry for your loss. ❤️🙏🏻
Oh it's finally open
Marylander here, those crab cakes looked so sad! Dan , we need to send you some proper Maryland crab cakes!!
😂😂 sold!
Nope, I am a cake person and do not see us going there ever. I'm so sorry to hear about Dad...
I'm really sorry to hear about Leslie's dad and hope you are doing okay ❤
Leslie so sorry about your dad passing away that the cake shop it is expensive so in new lighting line is so expensive
I'm so sorry for your loss of your father.

Gideons is just as big for $9 and they are amazing!
So sorry for the loss of your father Leslie .
So sorry about your Dad
Totally agree with what you said about cramming tables in to spaces they don’t really fit and will not provide a good guest experience. Stop it!!
Very sorry for your loss Leslie. I feel terrible that I’m interjecting this after my previous comment because we care about you and Jen and the boys very much. What did your boys think of the food you brought home?
Thank you. Jennings loved the chocolate cake…not so much the other one.
lol, yes!! We must be a magnet for server’s stations.
I think this is going to be more of a “special occasion” restaurant, and I do think they will do well if the quality of the food, the service and the environment becomes and/or stays exquisite.

Wow! The table location! That gets a zero for me even if there were no other tables, but add to that. Completely thoughtless. I’d be angry! Love your honesty. These things matter. Greedy to me.
Please review Takumi-Tei in Epcot. We went there last night and want to know from professional food critics. Thanks
We have 🤗
The big question is...does it match up with a lil Debbie Christmas cake??? So sorry for your loss....
I love cake, but why go here when I can get a GREAT piece of cake at Gideon's Bakehouse for $9.00?
This should have opened at the Grand Floridian and no one would have said a word about the prices. I think they are evolving from the Coney Island Boardwalk to the Hamptons Boardwalk. This place is not meant for everyone. But it looks just beautiful and I'm sure the quality and service are top notch. If you have to look at the prices, this place is not for you. LOL
Big nooope! I give them a year.
You should have asked to sit at another table. You are not only paying for food and service but comfort as well!
Sorry to hear about your Dad
Is it worth $240 for two people? Definitely not! Leslie, sorry for your loss ❤😢
I would have asked to sit at a different table and asked for more baguette without thinking twice and had a very different experience 😂
lol, I think maybe you’re missing the entire point of a review. Sure, we could correct them on everything we don’t like and send things back and demand changes and then rate them 5 stars. But, then we would just have a bunch of videos that are all 5 stars with misrepresentations of the actual experience we got or what you, the viewer, could expect when you go 🤷♂️
@@AddictedtotheMouse I guess so! 😂 I just want bread. 🥖
@ 😂
Just to put it in context. For $242 you can almost buy 2 ENTIRE beef filets at Sams or Costco. America's Test Kitchen said it was the best. That is roughly 30 servings of beef tenderloin (filet mignon). BTW, crab cakes on the Outer Banks, with crab right out of the water is nowhere near $50. All the glitter that everyone is so impressed with is under $4 at Walmart. Nonetheless, I hope people that go enjoy it. Vacations should be super fun.
So sorry Leslie.
$24 for a terrible “adult” slushy in a clear plastic dixie cup come on. Carrot cake was good but not $22.99 good.
looks fancy and nice, definitely over priced. I think it would fit in at Grand Floridian better
2 burrata is better than one.
Sorry about your dad
So sorry about your dad. Doesn’t matter how old we are. They are always our parents.
Definitely not worth the price too expensive
Why complaining so much, you are writing all these meals off on taxes…
Complaining is fun though.
You still have to pay for it. Deductions do not equal income back.
They are not "complaining". They are "reviewing". (And for our benefit, I might add.) It is impossible to write/post or vlog a critical review and point out shortcomings without sounding like complaining. It is endemic to the process.
Expense does not equal free, although this comment does remind me of a scene in Schitt’s Creek 😂
They won’t last.
Ok great review as always. But I felt very seen with the carved out discussion on the two tops it always happens to us and I never understand why when so many open tables.
We plan on stopping by bakery and we ll probably skip it on our Christmas trip but maybe brunch one time next year.
