    I just saw the movie. I would give nominations for Best Picture, Director, Actress, Supporting Actress (for both Yeoh and Aquafina), Cinematography, production design, editing, original score, adapted screenplay

    Now we need more diversity when it comes to behind the scenes. White people are still writing and producing everything. That's where the real changes are made

      Adele Lim is an Asian woman who co-wrote Crazy RIch Asians, (she's wrote and produced many TV shows) but what you said is right, still have a long way to go...

      +Nathan Crowther Are you kidding (or Singaporean)? Kidding aside, there are huge film industries in Asia. The problem in the US/West is that it's not _seen_ as an option, either in role models or actual productions. Constance Wu said, "Sometimes you don't get opportunity unless you see possibility".

    • @roundabout2701
      @roundabout2701 6 років тому +4

      Hm I'm not sure where you got the stat but actors are actors and need not double as writers just because they are EA. It comes back to the problem of lack of representation. For Asians in the West, I'm sure there's cultural influence on at least two fronts: 1) family -- it's no coincidence that amongst the actors in this film there are law graduates, a doctor, etc. so no, writing is not traditionally an 'acceptable' career path, 2) are Asians allowed to write for predominantly white stories (what studios are mostly making)? Historically, no and wouldn't it be better if they had a chance to tell their own perspectives even if they are a monolingual English speaker in London? Like the book's author, several of my Asian friends write on the side, after their day jobs. Maybe with the commercial success of this film, more are emboldened to take that career leap. Someone needs to be that pioneer and model of success.

      +Nathan Crowther is clearly a troll. Please spare us the "we" language. The argument by East and Southeast Asian American writers has always been that their stories aren't valued by Hollywood, which has always been worried about making a financial return. But here are a few mixed race Filipinos that defy exactly what you are saying (I only know of which because I'm half too):
      Robert Lopez - most winning musical writer ever, having won 2 oscars, 3 grammies, 2 golden globes, 3 tonies
      Bruno Mars - obvious
      Joey Santiago - Full filipino lead guitarist of iconic Pixies band
      Kirk Hamlett - lead guitarist of Metalica
      Enrique Iglesias - Pop singer
      And more that we don't know about.

    can this interviewer just be the interviewee for all the press? He's got great questions, super professional and actually not cringy and awkward.
    I'VE RECENTLY SEEN AN AWKWARD one and that was such a pain. 😫🙄 and then some interviewers are just straight up obnoxious, but not this guy. I lovvee him! 😁 just perfect

    Could i just hope that maybe Constanze and Henry should be for the character of Disney Mulan and Zhang. They are so perfect. Constanze Wu is the Quality of Mulan like" Every women should listen to their heart". A projection of Strong Independent but also a very romantic character kind a Women

      His choices for his filmography are really wired.

    • @Zombiesnyder13
      @Zombiesnyder13 6 років тому +1

      I know, the guy is a decent director, like Robert Schwentke or JA Bayona
      M. Chu made a G.I.Joe sequel that was better than Rise of Cobra, and despite Now you See Me isn't a good movie, his direction was okay.

    • @Collageman90

      He was also in Freaked as the guy in the monster form of Stewie costume. To find more of the movie Freaked go watch Some Jerk with a Camera and talk to him on Twitter also cause Freaked is one of his favorite movies of all time. Or you can IMDb Freaked to get more info of it.

      Reza Mardian ugh that is one of the most stereotypical books about "asian Americans" out there. Also just what we need. Another representation of an "Asian" woman married to a white guy.

    • @da96103

    What's wrong with Constance? She gave a half-hearted answer compared to the others. Something is bothering her.

    • @Neojhun
      @Neojhun 6 років тому +13

      WOOSH. You did not undestand the "Threw It Away" great answer. In performing if you do a lot of preparation then just throw it away. That's a Leap of Faith. Surprisingly honest technical answer Constance Gave. Maybe her facial expressions were strained but just seems like just Thinking on the spot.

    • @KemptonLam
      @KemptonLam 6 років тому +3

      @Neojhun made some good observations that I won't repeat. Plus this ~12 minutes video we see here is highly edited. I bet the full session can easily be ~ 60 minutes. Wish we could see that and see more of each person's answers (including Constance's).

    he was not even a relevant character
