Also if you haven’t yet you NEED to watch Blue Eyed Samurai. It’s stunning. Arguably kinda queer themes in that the protagonist is born female but presents as male (even though that is very clearly out of force of condition rather than free choice). It was so good I didn’t even care that they weren’t gay, but if you like Arcane you NEED to watch!!

We need to RESPECT whatever someone says their gender or sexuality is, or is not. And it’s sad when the queer community (who has sooo much experience with not getting that kinda respect) refuses to grant it to other people. Taylor swift has been very vocal about being an ally, which is awesome and we need to fucking respect that!

I know nothing about Taylor Swift, but I respect her enough as a human being to trust her when she says what her gender and sexual orientation are (I'm going with cishet judging by your video). If she comes out as something different later, good for her. It's all part of her journey. But speculating on people's sexual orientations and gender identities is reductive and can push people further into the closet. Jerks need to stop doing it. Maybe Renee Rapp is letting her character from the Sex Lives of College Girls (an underrated show, imo) change her Regina George. I'm not complaining. I am so upset that OFMD got cancelled. It was such a brilliant show that meant so much to me.

I think the New York article was more about queer flagging and how it has been used throughout history by queer people to recognized each other and is still being used today
(I'm not talking about TS, I am only talking about queer day-to-day people)
To be clear, Taylor Swift has never said that she's straight. She's said in a 2019 Vogue article, “Rights are being stripped from basically everyone who isn’t a straight white cisgender male. I didn't realize until recently that I could advocate for a community that I'm not a part of". That includes a lot of communities she could be talking about, people of colour, trans people, and other queer people whose identity she doesn't share. The article is phrased very carefully, but those are the words she actually said. Also, in her song "hits different", she calls her muse "argumentative, antithetical dream girl". Also her songs "maroon" and "dress" are very queer.
I'm not trying to be mean or anything, I just know a lot about this subject, it was a special interest of mine for at least three years😅

I have always hoped that 2 unknowns would be cast as Evelyn Hugo and Celia St James instead of two straight US actresses who are recognized box office draws in order to make their Sapphic relationship more believable. Evelyn Hugo is supposedly based in part on late actress Ava Gardner who, like Marilyn Monroe, preferred women sexually, & Ava, had a torrid affair w/ actress Lana Turner, so I have always imagined the characters of Evelyn & Celia as resembling Ava & Lana. I just pray that the fact that Celia was the love of Evelyn's life doesn't get lost in all of the hubbys , most of whom she married in order to keep the press from discovering her relationship w/ Celia. And I won't be the least bit surprised if someday, TS reveals herself to be pop music's Evelyn Hugo, lol. Cannot wait to see "Love Lies Bleeding". I just hope that the bathroom in which the girls have sex isn't nauseatingly slick & nasty w/ men's body fluids & nobody looses their footing. That would make me barf.

I can understand wild Gaylors, speculating and obsessing on an anonymous gossip internet destination. A major media outlet oped, trying to force a straight ally out of the closet, did you say NYT? Is there a respectable news outlet with journalist integrity left in the world? Guess not.

I watched the True Detective episode 2 days ago and stand by your opinion of it. But I did like a lot of things other than the script, like scenery (Iceland, just wait for me), some of the character construction, music and, of course, cast. So IDK, perhaps the other elements will make up for what's left in storytelling...
Can't understand the obsession around Taylor's sexuality. And she's always seemed straight as a line to me. I will admit though that a recent photo she posted where Blake Lively is all over her made me skip a beat for a sec.

No, Taylor just appreciates and rewards her LGBTQ fans with relatable songs and lyrics. I'd be more concerned with the ones trying to read more into it and that keep questioning her (hetero) sexuality.
If people did just a little research and not just look at the first thing that suits their agenda, they would read that in multiple interviews Taylor has stated the reason she preferred to hang with her "girl gang" is because articles invariably speculated that any male she was pictured with must be automatically involved with, so to deflect rumours and tabloid trash headlines she avoided being photographed with them.
TS writes a wide spectrum of lyrics to appeal to an audience of all tastes and styles, and anyone trying to pigeonhole her into fitting whatever tick box they desperately desire is sadly just deluding themselves.
