  • In this video we are reviewing the beautiful locs of Toni Morrison. Chloe Anthony Wofford Morrison (born Chloe Ardelia Wofford; February 18, 1931 - August 5, 2019), known as Toni Morrison, was an American novelist, essayist, editor, teacher, and professor emeritus at Princeton University. Born and raised in Lorain, Ohio, Morrison graduated from Howard University in 1953 and went to graduate school at Cornell University. In the late 1960s, she became the first black female editor in fiction at Random House in New York City. In the 1970s and 1980s, she developed her own reputation as an author, and her perhaps most celebrated work, Beloved, was made into a 1998 film.
In 1988, she won the Pulitzer Prize for Beloved (1987) and the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1993.
On May 29, 2012, President Barack Obama presented Morrison with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

She was an iconic woman- I recommend "Jazz" and "Playing in the dark" "Burn this book" was great as well. So glad you cover Toni Morrison's locs- she was one of the reasons why I kept my locs. I had the opportunity to attend one of her events in Philadelphia - I tell you, I was blown away by her wisdom, humor and just her sheer love of literature ...

What a respectful, review of our Beloved Toni Morrison 💖 I've read,& re-read most of her books. The two I'd recommend of the top are"The Bluest eye',&"Song of Solomon". Her work is what I call"High Art", not in a way to make it Above others... but Toni was a Deep writer/storyteller who can take you on a journey that make you wonder"what just happened? Did she say/share that?" Treat your self to Toni Morrison's work 💝

Back in the 80's many of us started with braids. The ends of her hair might just have been the part still in perm/relaxer mode. We didn't do all that re-twisting back then, at least judging by people I knew with locks. I remember her back locks were much longer than the front or sides. Try at least one of her books. I also recommend the "Bluest Eye" and the "Song of Solomon". It will definitely contribute to your life perceptions. Great videos & TFS. Blessings.

Yes, she is a 4c hair type and even in the Afro this is her curl pattern just simply using daily hair maintenance of picking/coming. Sadly, this notion of whitewashing hair still exists. Yes, you will love her books. Each of her styles were all natural. She didnt use chemicals even the straighter styles you see they are simply blown dried and curled. If I am correct she sued the braidloc method.
Braidloc is very common. They get individual braids and just leave them be -LOL I started this way. You do still get the messy stage, LOL Those braids after time will coil on their own and that braiding pattern becomes less and less visible. With locs you will see one length and then as the locs loc they will drop giving it a longer look. Some people that start with braidloc may eventually take out the added hair. Yes, she was semi-free form, meaning she didnt do the retightening stuff for the salon look This is a good thing. She had thickkkkkkkkkkkkk and long locs. Yes, older women with the grey.silver.white locs run into the age of hair thinning and must moisturize more as this type of hair is more brittle.
I have to say your channel is awesome and one of the very few loc sites with such information and more.
You must read her books. If you like another renown women of literature Dr. Maya Angelo you will enjoy Toni Morrison. Look for some of her lectures and discussions as well.

Ms. Morrison started with braids as was custom at that time, and never added any weave to her hair. In the '70s and early '80s, it was organic, braids or palm roll were the most common way of starting locs.
