I've been natural all my life and I want locs now. It's so much more than a hair style. It's glorifying my roots..no pun intended. I just feel like locs are one of the most beautiful expressions of love for and pride in afro culture. My 5 yr old son wants them too. So excited for our Journey
No locs yet, but I loved your nurturing voice and wisdom. You are not condescending like some other videos on the YT. I am really considering. Thank you for your knowledge.
I love the thickness of her hair, especially those edges! Aint nothing like some thick edges. :) Beautiful Queen. Happy journeying sis! Yannie - I may be on my way! I've started and maintain my locs and have been the only hands to touch them - by choice - as a part of my journey. Your spirit is so wonderful that I'm convinced you may be the only one I'll let touch my locs and provide/transfer energy to my journey. (I HATED the thought of a "loctician") I'm both anxious and excited to consider sharing my experience but... who knows!! Thank you for sharing your videos, I've learned so much and you may be hearing from me very soon! Stay blessed sis. Happy journeying.
Joanna is so freaking pretty and some how her hair became even more beautiful after you did your thing! Good to know about the essential oils catering to specific needs. Love what you said about letting your hair be free and not being confined by obsessing over it! Edit: Yes lawd to her soft thick edges!
I've decided to take Yannies advice about getting my locks done every month and staying away from products. I suffer from hair loss at the front which I feel came from having my locks styled every month and pulled tight from the front. Going to look after my own locks and just use natural oils.
Sandra Dwyer, me and you both. I recently (5-2-2019) had to get my locs cut off. After 17 years of growth. 😞 l had been warned, not to bleach my hair, but vanity ruled and reigned. My locs became dry as a bone/brittle/weak and thin. They would break off with the slightest touch/or manipulation. So l had them extremely uneven in length. The weight of them was causing me to develop "Traction Alopecia" on the top. I was in denial, obsessed with appearance. Looking good, but steadily balding on the top of my head. So.....l learned my lesson.
I wish you were in California I wish there were more queens like you that really promote healthy locks. I learn less is more. My locks improved immensely. Her locs are beautiful!! Yannie you are the bomb.
Thank u so much for this videos! U have saved my locs and scalp. I got rid of all my products and got rosewater mixed with tea tree Castro oil. Huge change in my locs, they are now soft, moisturized and no more Dandruff!
Her hair is beautiful and the process was awesome! I've watched several of Yannie's videos but had to comment on this one. Joanna is my twin: in look, similar voice, and even facial expressions - it's weird but fun to find yourself in another place. Even my 9 year old couldn't figure out how/why I was on you tube. I'm the CA twin, wishing I could be on the East Coast sitting in Yannie's chair!! :) God bless!
She is real and honest. I would love to go to her salon. I do not really have locks; but I have gone natural for the last three years. I would like to get some good advise on products to use in my hair. Beautiful soul. Blessings
😱OMGEEE!!! You're AWESOME Yanni!!! When 👁wash my hair. I dnt feel like retwisting. I like the FULLNESS!!! Thnks 4 YOUR Healthy Hair TIPS!! God Bless u my sistah.
Yannie your a beautiful soul and a great expert of loc care... I'm a New Yorker who currently reside in in Maryland. This is my 2nd set of locs but your the reason why I started my 2nd set. I will too stalk you until I get to meet you one day. My hair is very soft 3b and I've been loc'd 1 year thus far. GB I look forward to meeting you one day Sister Yannie 🙏❤ 👑
Wow! The only thing I wish you had of done is put of a split screen of when she came in and when you finish. I so want to do locs in my hair. I think this has convinced my husband this is a good idea for me and us. He will have to help me, since I do have some health issues and he does a lot of my routine care with me, so we both watched this video in full. We loved it and cannot believe how wonderful the whole process was!!!
I am just finding you and these videos. I could cry. I had locs and I cut them and it seems like my hair has never recovered. I truly wish I lived closer. I could use you, and your beautiful hands in my life. This is so beautiful. I am so willing to travel to see you.
Shalom Queen Yannie 🌹, Your teaching about our Locs is Awesome! I appreciate your words, truth must be told. I'm on another journey (round 3) - letting go of all the 'stuff' I used in caring for my Locs . From this day forward, I'm keeping it simple. May The Most High 'YAH' continue to bless you, and give you peace! YAH BLESS.
Beautiful Queen...So nice to see my Rastafarian sistah doing the works. Am also a license Cosmetologist Atlanta. Keep up the good works my queen nuff respect...One Love Rastafari Ase❤💚💛🇯🇲🇺🇸🇧🇴
I stopped going to a loctian because I prefer the thick and fullness of my hair at the roots! I started doing my own hair about 6 months ago and I've never felt soooo free!😊 I use aloe vera juice but I'm going to try the rosewater and vitamin E.
+Yannie the Locologist Havent found what the Loc Bath consist of tho. Would love to know more about that. Ive seen every video and read the web page in its entirety yet no info on what the loc bath consist of.
I’ve just come across your page. There is so much knowledge you’ve shared. I’m 20 plus years in my loc journey and I’ve learned from your videos. This is my third video watched this evening. Considering the life moment I’m in I need to discuss with you one on one. I will look at your links.
SOOOOOOOO elated that I came across your channel....Have been skeptical when I go (which is like one every four months) to my loctician about the products she puts in my hair, after viewing your videos, I have such a greater understanding of how to care for my locs - only oills and water (aloe and rose) moving forward. Keep doing what you do, very grateful!! Bless! (another trini empress**)
Beautiful locs. I'm now upset I relaxed my hair. I've ALWAYS wanted locs. Every time I see a person with locs, any shape or length, I feel a little bit of envy. Thanks for the video, Yannie!
Thank you so much for this beautiful information! It gives me awesome instructions for beautiful locks! I have my rose water and vitamin e for mixing! I appreciate all of your videos better than all others! You tell the truth about locks!!! Thank you!
I love it when you say don’t be obsessed with neatness - that’s me. Uneven lengths because my hair doesn’t grow evenly and it doesn’t bother me. I usually maintain it myself although I’m not that good.
Sooooo beautiful!! I wish you were in Toronto!!! My fiancé lives in Rochester so maybe I might have to work something out next time I'm there. Would love to get my locs seen by you Yannie!
Yanni! You are fantastic my trini sister. Fist thing.... I’m a locked trini living in Dubai and I do my own hair. Second thing.... I wish I could come and sit in your chair. Last thing..... here is what I’ve learned from you. Stop over washing my hair, stop spraying my hair with water and oil, and continue putting nothing in my hair. Input nothing in my hair cause I can’t but nothing out here😂
I need to come see you so bad. My locs are starting to get out of control and I don't know what to do. Unfortunately, I am very far away, so I'll have to contact you when I'm state side. Until then, stay blessed and thank you for this video!!!!! :)
She called her a beautiful melanated empress! I want to go to her salon just for the compliments!
Riiiigghtt
Positive vibes! I love when we uplift each other!!!!
TruthNloV3 honestly I love her compliments
Hahahahaha same lmao
Haha hahaha
Her locs are gorg!!! I thought I was the only one who doesn't like the "scalpy" look. I love not seeing my scalp! #loclife
that just means they were retwisted correctly
I feel the same way! I don't like seeing my scalp lol
Ashley Tompkins I'm just about to start and do not like the scalp look
Ashley Tompkins Same, lol.
Same here, I hate when my locs are freshly retwisted.
Joanna's hair😍😍😍 and Yannie's nails😍😍😍
I'm adopting Yannie as my Aunty
I cannot wait to see Yannie in person when my locs are ready.
I love the simple / minimalistic approach.
JoyceMD I love your videos, boo, lol. 😍😍❤️❤️✨✨
Might be kinda weird, but Yannie has such beautiful hands! I would trust her working on my head lol
I've been natural all my life and I want locs now. It's so much more than a hair style. It's glorifying my roots..no pun intended. I just feel like locs are one of the most beautiful expressions of love for and pride in afro culture. My 5 yr old son wants them too. So excited for our Journey

MsGabbiful i wonder if she has naturally thick hair ?
Wow, Joanna is gorgeous. And yep, the scalp is skin like every other part of your body. Winter dryness, allergy season, etc.
She’s got the most beautiful locs (and smile☺️)I’ve ever seen.

Yannie, you are such a beautiful spirit. I'm so thankful I found your channel.
Does anyone else regularly watch this video because it kinda feels like ASMR?
Waw I've learned something today. I just looked up what ASMR mean. Very interesting. Goes to show you never too old to learn. THANK YOU

That very smart idea DO NOT LET EVERYONE TOUCH YOUR CROWN. In other words do not let everyone touch your head
I loved that she has healthy hair by NOT going to a salon regularly. I wish I've gone back in time & never messed with my hair
