    Thanks. Gold is old as long as civilization. When you want to block money for saving and at the same time you want loan in case of emergency, tax free investment, getting 2.5% return, and secure, this is best option. Gold is in limited quantity, so it always remain in demand as pure and precious metal

    Good Analysis Sir. But I am not happy with the government approach on SGB. They are always issuing it when the gold prices shoots up. I guess 2.5% interest which we get every year would be of no use, as we will always be buying SGB at higher rates.

    • @mudassarwasta
      @mudassarwasta 3 роки тому +2

      You have to understand the governments perspective also. There is no point issuing bonds when prices are low.
      Also, we do not know whether they purposely did not issue bonds when prices were low.
      Secondly, the 2.5% interest on investment is icing on the cake compared to capital appreciation in gold for 8 years, if past performance is any indication.

    • @pradeep_davda
      @pradeep_davda 3 роки тому +1

      @@mudassarwasta So if I invest in current SGB which is already at 48500... I know that price has shoot up due to covid and it's going to come down as the situation is normalised and the price come down to 45000. So I don't see 2.5% interest icing on cake as we are doing investment at high levels in gold.

    • @mudassarwasta
      @mudassarwasta 3 роки тому +5

      @@pradeep_davda let me explain.
      First, the 2.5% interest on which you are emphasizing so much is given on initial investment. So, if u buy bonds at 48500, ul get 606 every 6 months as interest, irrespective of price of gold moving up and down.
      Second, you are thinking at the SGB from trading point of view. What i meant by "icing" is that over the period of 8 years gold has historically given very good returns. If the same happens in future, then the 2.5% interest recieved is like a bonus compared to capital gains on SGB.
      What you are concernes about is short term price of gold, changes of 1000 bucks or so. Look at the probable long term appreciation.

    Maximum 4 grams of SGB gold can be purchased so if 4 grams is purchased then 2.5% of 20000 is just 500 rupees which we will get twice a year as 250 rs each time.500rs in a year means nothing. And 8 years lock in also.

    • @mudassarwasta
      @mudassarwasta 3 роки тому +2

      I actually thought of doing that. I am hesitating because of two reasons.
      1. Since etfs are traded on exchange, buy and sell price spreads may differ from actual gold prices.
      2. ETFs are considered as debt instruments for taxation. So the capital gains tax is considerable.
