    100% agree with Kobe and Uden being ridiculously hyped and overpriced, the oud line on the other hand is very good! Thank you for this overview Dimitri

    I tried some of these based on your review. I was taken aback with Al-Khat and Kemi Kemi just because I don’t have any experience with animalic and dirty ouds. I gave Kemi and second wearing and it was a lot better after the initial wearing. I just can’t get over the indolic jasmine of Al-Khat. Richwood is very impressive. I’m enjoying the journey for sure

    Good video. From Xerjoff I own (Naxos, more than words, 40 knots). Ive only been in this game for three years. I try to purchase one fragrance per month. I now own 23 Fragrances and i feel that i have to slow down. I want to wear and truly enjoy the fragrances i own. I truly am amazed by your knowledge of fragrances. Keep doing what you do. Take care

    Thank you for this review. I really like Xerjoff and I appreciate your honesty to say that not every single perfume is worth the price. On the other hand I really enjoy and own these: 40 Knots, Naxos, Fars, Nio, Mefisto and Tempest. I think all of them are incredible and its really difficult to decide what will be next addition to my Xerjoff collection. :) My girlfriend enjoys Muse and Lira. On my "to test" list are Starlight, Aubres, Ceylon, Mamluk and Jabir. Keep safe, Anton.

    I agree about Richwood being signature scent worthy. That was the first thing that came to mind. It has character but soft enough for most occasions/weather. I need to try another decant because it didn't impress me as much off my skin.

    I also wasn't impressed by xerjoff w their well known ones like the ones you mentioned nio, uden, naxos, etc but just like you, they are now one of my favorite brands after I discovered oud stars.

    Im surprised you didn’t like Pikovaya Dama. Its probably one of the most hedonistic, luxurious fragrances I’ve encountered. Someone else described it as “royal, rich ass baby powder” which is sort of accurate, it’s like the most luxurious expensive soap you can imagine. Something about powdery fragrances that make me think of royalty and very high quality perfumes. If Roja Haute Luxe leaned more powdery than resinous, it would smell like Pikovaya Dama.

      It's a personal taste.
      Imho, Pikovaya Dama and Ambre Narguile are the best perfume in the market. Richwood is also up there, but PD is out of this world.

    Luca Turin has one of my favorite reviews on Xerjoff (Alexandria II):
    "Xerjoff is an Italian firm, along the bullshit continuum somewhere between Creed and Roja Dove, but with less access to perfumery talent than the former and less retro heft than the latter. When Italians do cynical, they do it properly. The perfumes are mostly vile and cheap-smelling, the packaging design eye-wateringly vulgar, the prices stellar. This one retails for £495 at Harrods. It is a dismal fruity thing slashed across the face by a repellent woody amber. LT" - from the 2018 perfumes guide book

    I'd love to hear your opinion on Kemi's 'Ilm. It is supposed to contain three sorts of natural oud and nothing else. To me it is just a celebration of oud as a note and wears beautifully difusing my initial concerns triggered by community comments about barnyard smell, used diapers, etc. Of course the price is very high, but probably not as high as what other more renowed houses would ask for what is allegedly a natural oud. I still need to first internally justify that price tag, but at the moment it is serious contender for my ultimate oud fragrance.

      I adore Ilm, funny that you ask about it since I wore it last night before going to bed. To me it's a very personal scent. Unlike other Xerjoff it stays very close to your skin and has average performance. I get no animalic or barnyard smell out of it, just a beautiful woody/tobacco that helps me relax. I'll buy a bottle when I find a good deal ;)

      @@dimitrisignaturescent1766 I understand it means Knowledge in Arabic and it embodies exactly that - perfume that has no other purpose than connect with his wearer and bring enlightment to his soul. As you said, you wore it primarily for yourself with no secondary motives (compliments, seduction, confidence booster). Just your own piece of mind. I get similar vibe from Oud Shamash by Different Company, but 'Ilm has almost regal character.

    I'm arab muslim, it is forbidden to drink alcohol, but it is not forbidden to put on skin, the lack of alcohol in prefumes is totally NOT due to the same reason

    Shame on Xerjoff. Let me preface this by saying that Xerjoff is one of my absolute favorite houses, whose compositions are some of my favorites. I first smelled Richwood a while ago while in Italy, decided to not buy it yet as the price point is ridiculous and waited. I finally got myself a bottle only to find out that it has been reformulated. Why? Because the Mysore sandalwood that they use, the key component and driving force behind this once gorgeous composition is endangered and extremely difficult to come by, making the price of it very, very high to even gather small amounts. Rather than Xerjoff discontinuing this, they greedily reformulated it and kept saying they use Mysore sandalwood, when it fact, to my nose and to many others, especially to my friends who work in the niche fragrance world, it smells nothing of Mysore. All I get is patchouli, some rose and a bit of woods. Might as well call it Xerjoff Sortofwood. Greedy as hell Xerjof...and completely unacceptable to be charging 400+ for a 50ml and 600+ for a 100 ml for a fragrance that barely if at all contains a hard to find wood.

    • @dimitrisignaturescent1766
      @dimitrisignaturescent1766  4 роки тому

      Never had a chance to try the original Richwood, I really like it but this version is 100% about sweetened patchouli and woods! For the price I'll go with Coromandel anytime. Some brands unfortunately play this game of reformulating fragrances and then swearing on their mother's grave that they haven't changed a thing while keeping the original prices.. Sad. If you want honesty go check out MDCI. The owner, Claude Marchal, decided to discontinue one of their greatest masterpiece composed by Francis Kurkdjian and rated 5 stars by Luca Turin, because of material restrictions 👌
