  • Atropine: Emergency Medications is an anticholinergic medication used to treat Bradcycardias and also organophosphate poisoning.
    Atropine was previously included in the AHA guidelines for use in cardiac arrest associated with Asystole and PEA but was removed from these guidelines in 2010 due to a lack of evidence for its effectiveness.
    The name atropine was coined in the 19th century when pure extracts from the belladonna plant Atropa belladonna were first made. It was first isolated in 1833 and is on the World Health Organization's (WHO) List of Essential Medicines.
