- In this video, we will be discussing Adenosine: Emergency Medications.
Adenosine is a naturally occurring organic compound and an endogenous purine nucleoside. When given as an anti-arrhythmic, it slows AV nodal conduction and interrupts reentrant AV pathways, thus often terminating supraventricular tachycardias as a "chemical cardioverter.". Another great overview about Adenosine. Always important to communicate with your patient prior to administering Adenosine.
Communication in Healthcare is always key to good patient management. It is vital to explain to your patient what is going to happen and how they might feel during the administration of Adenosine. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment.
This is the first video I’ve seen expressing the importance of communication and how the patient will feel. I was a patient who received Adenosine recently and although they did a fantastic job explaining, it was such an experience I came to learn more.
Communication is key with your patient. They need to understand what is going to hapeen so that there is no unessary stress.
