2018 ChaseBaits Ultimate Squid

New 2018 ICAST introduction, the Ultimate Squid from Chasebaits. Very interesting new lures from Australia. These really are the nicest squid imitation lures I've seen. Length is just under 6 inches, there will be a larger one coming. Use them on a leadhead, Carolina rig or weedless bass rig. This is CANDY BAIT!

What would you say is the best color for so cal waters?

Good question, and I don't have a clear answer. All patterns have sold well, and all are catching fish. Some using on dropper loop rigs for rockfish/lings/bottom scratchers. I doubt they care much. For calico bass fishing, my thinking (and it's only that for now) is that the Calimari and Crystal patterns, but the Bloody is a pattern we've seen some repeat sales by one guy in particular at our HB shop. I know he's going for bass. So, look at those three flavors and let us know your findings please.
Side note, looks like we'll see the bigger models in January.

how does it hold up to toothy fish?

Not too bad. One of our clients brought one back in to show us what 8 calico bass did to the lure, still fishable in my estimation. But, like any soft plastic, it can get hammered by a toothy critter pretty easily.

I'm in FL and I'll be posting a pic of what was left of the lure on Amazon (under chasebait/squid items); it doesn't hold well, I lost all 3 on one deep sea fishing trip. Didn't pull anything yet, but I had 2 great 'hits' both cut my line...it definitely works just bank on losing the bait.
