      @@marcelrae7194 True but 64 goals and 89 assists would fit right in the middle of his(Gretzky )stat sheet, pretty much Gretzky, Bossy, and Liemeuix type numbers. Put it this way if Connor scored this in 2015 just his 89 assists would have won the scoring title vs Jamie Benn's 87 combined points that won the Art Ross. Sounds like Gretzky to me.

      @@michaelmohrle1773It sounds nothing like Gretzky. Put it this way, if Wayne would have scored his 163 assists in the season where McDavid scored his 153 points, Wayne would have won the scoring title by 10 points on his assists alone beating McDavid's highest scoring season ever.

    • @michaelmohrle1773

      @@dannycarlow8204 I didn't say Gretzky's best point season I said Gretzky type numbers. If you look at Wayne's stats McDavid's 64 goals 89 assists 153 points would fit right in the middle of Wayne's carrer stats, Conner even bumped his assists last season to the 100 level. Pretty much like Gretzky's 1989-90 season where he scored 40 goals and 102 assists.

    • @dannycarlow8204
      @dannycarlow8204 2 місяці тому

      @@michaelmohrle1773 So you used McDavid's best season to make your point about how just his assists would beat Benn's point total from a totally different season but when Gretzky's best season is used in the same way against McDavid, that's not fair? I was only showing you how flawed your logic is. It's like if you said that what Kucherov did last year sounds a lot like Mario. For McDavid to sound somewhat like Gretzky, he would have to have at least four seasons of 150+ points at this point of his career and have way more than one single 50 goal season. There is absolutely no reason that McDavid should only have one 150 point season and one 50 goal season after nine years.

    I remember back in 2012, I was in my high school library browsing Sportsnet (or was it NHL?), and I came across an article stating that McDavid could be as good as, or better, than Crosby. And back then, I didn't know much about hockey (certainly not to the degree I know now) and I just remember laughing it off as gibberish, because Crosby was something else entirely.
    Well as an Oilers fan, I'm so glad we have him. I have never, EVER, seen a player who can change the dynamics of a game like he can, or at least, as frequently as he can. His hockey IQ is off the charts, able to read plays before they happen, make calculated decisions look last second, and absolutely torch players on a daily basis. This guy makes elite defenders look like amateurs on the regular.
    He is ELITE and he WILL win a cup with Edmonton. It's coming.

      @@joeydrummer7929 Wtf you talking about man?!? Goalies weren't good?! Martin Brodeur, Patric Roy, Hasek, many others... They weren't good? This wasn't the 60's bro, Gretzky played until 2000, Mario until 2005. You crazy my guy. If that were true then their numbers would reflect that, especially with the defense being as bad as you say. But that's not even close to true. The numbers do not agree with you. Not at all. Their goals-against average and save percentages 20-30 years ago are the exact same as goalies today. And to say that somebody is on their way to becoming GOAT is so silly. Many players were on their way. It's the longevity along with the skills and accomplishments that gives you that status. McDavid is great but he has so many more years he has to be great. He could get injured or lose his greatness like many other players that were great too. And still won't even touch these guys numbers. He is on par with Sidney Crosby. But yeah, he's a great player, nobody is saying he's not

  • @prototek100
    @prototek100 8 днів тому +1

    I think he's more like Orr than Gretzky. Gretzky was of course insanely good at putting the puck in the net and playing what I can only describe as 'hockey-chess' and being 3 moves ahead of everyone else, but Orr was a player who did everything at a level above everyone else and that's what McDavid does. He also has those super hero moments of bursting through and/or outwitting the entire opposition single handedly, again something that Orr did, same with being able to rush back and forth crazy distances between D and Offense as needed and being great at both. Gretzky was more like Bobby Clarke, but he took that style of play to a new level for sure. The only thing about the Orr/McDavid style of play is that you kind of depend on luck as the risk for injury and permanent damage is much higher. I would say McDavid has been pretty lucky so far.

      I don't really like Gretsky.. But one thing that stands out for me and where I feel Greatsky is better and what makes him Grestsky.. He just kept everything simple. He just put that puck on the net. And no it wasn't beautiful. He didn't have much style. Was nowhere near the too skilled players. But he just kept it simple. If your goal is to outscore your opponent. Goal of hockey is.. put the puck in the net more than the other team. That's where gretsky excelled at.. Hate him or love him. He put the puck in the net. As easy and simple as possible. He didn't need to dangle. Or learn skills. Or have to show off on his way. He just put it in the net.... And I even think.. Pavel Datsyuk is My favorite all time player and as amazing as he is.. He never had the consistency or gretsky.. Everybody in this Era. Us focused on dangles.. skills.. and I think sometimes people forget.. You don't necessarily need any of that to put the puck on the net.. Probably the best player at putting the puck on the net wad gretsky and we can't argue or deny that.... Sometimes it's better to just keep things simple and you don't need any finesse or extra effort and Gretsky was t the best
