No way can Ed sit still long enough to be a fisherman long term and also he’ll miss his gentleman after like 5 hours lol. I’m not worried, they’re soulmates ❤
I can't help but cringe from second hand embarrassment, because if you've been bullied, disregarded or treated as an annoyance for most of your life, when you have a moment people like you and appreciate you, it really goes to your head with triple power. I've been there and it's so hard to watch 😬 And when they were talking about the fish Stede said different things than Ed heard. And I understand why - Stede was taking things very literally when he was talking about the fish being whatever and him telling Ed he praised him to make him feel good. Because we can see Ed's progress of coming to terms with wanting to be just a regular guy (without actually, really talking to Stede about it! like. At all! We had the "take it slow" conversation, but it's a different topic). We know the intent was there (from his gravy basket scenes, for instance), so we could interpret the little things he does and says, which Stede might have missed. We understand his motivation, but Stede is almost completely blindsided. So to Stede the love of his life decided to leave him because: 1) they rushed too much into sex (understandable, but not something you'd want to break up over in situation where you both made the decision. And yes, Ed consented, and had lot of opportunities to back down.) 2) because he told him his fish was great and he's good at fishing (????). I'd also get super confused, scared and defensive if I was Stede.
I read that some people said it was part of Stede's moral decline, because it was an unnecessary attack. Yes, is not the best version of Stede, but the drunk was going to attack him and I think we lose sight of the fact that this show always talked about feelings, but it made humor with deaths and that burned man is one of the many grotesque ways to die in the program.
Bro you're joking, it was so out of character of him and tbh im horrified. It's something ed would do back in his peak blackbeard days which I guess is where Stedes character arc is heading now and i'm gutted as what made him special was his big heart and innocence
@@clouise9722Yeah, but this is everything Stede wanted to be; what everyone told him he couldn't be. He's reveling in the fact that he was finally able to prove them wrong.
I think he said it to himself as much as he said it to Stede. He was fully on board then and seemed to have no regrets the morning after, but now he realised they were moving too fast again. I don't believe he regrets having sex with Stede, only the timing.
@@annikkegrimmig4950 Exactly! Especially bad if you think about the fact that it was probably the first meaningful, loving sexual experience Stede had. After being told it's a mistake, he's told that his love is just leaving. Mind made up, already got a job leaving. For someone who's be made to believe time and time again that he's basically worthless that's heartbreaking. And all a lot of people seem to be saying is Stede behaved horribly, telling 'poor Ed' his fish was 'whatever'.
Going to ignore all the unpleasantness and focus on Izzy's growth. No bitterness over Ed and Stede being together, refering to Stede as Ed's boyfriend without any malice or anger, encouraging Ed to leave Blackbeard behind and do what makes him happy. You love to see it. He has come so far and grown so much.
Ugh this scene broke my heart 😢Especially when he said "last night was a mistake" NOOOOO I mean, I think they're in different stages of what they want in life. Ed just wants to retire, while Stede's just getting infamous for being a pirate. They really just need to talk it through instead of acting like teenagers, but I know they'll be reunited again soon ❤ (also Ed saying he's a fisherman now made me laugh LMAO you caught one fish, dude!)
I think this is the point where they realize that Stede's not a merman and Ed's not the same pirate he used to be, and that they're starting to turn into Anne and Mary.
I think the point is that they could turn into Anne and Mary, if either of them compromise on what they want then they both could end up unhappy and build up resentment for one another like Anne and Mary. I am genuinely puzzled and terrified about how they could possibly resolve this and we only have one more episode left now. I just want them both to be happy and together and satisfied! Please don’t break them up again I don’t think I could handle it!
@sarahann74 I think at this stage, they're starting to look toxic. They were supposed to be taking it slow, and what happened in the previous episode was the exact opposite of slow.
It makes me sad but it had to happen. At the start of us meeting Ed, he said he thought of packing it all in and no longer being a pirate. Stede wanted the opposite, there was even a scene ofc when they switched places. Lots of scenes during season 1 of Ed and Stede teaching each other things. And it’s easy to have thought Ed would learn to love piracy again through Stede’s way of doing it; but Stede always wanted to become more like Blackbeard and earn the respect and validation he never got from those in his past life. And Ed always felt lost from all the trauma he experienced and bad decisions he’s made and wanted to get away from it all. They’ve always been heading in different directions and that’s something they’ve got to face together and make some tough decisions. Which is great writing bc it’s like real life, and not a fantasy story where a romantic relationship is a cure all.
Stede is technically younger in the piracy occupation. He’s just become a Fresh faced ‘made it famous’ rookie, and Ed is a veteran in the job who wants to wind down and leave piracy behind to live peacefully. They are both at differing stages, not just in their teetering love relationship but in careers too. This is their new challenge to overcome ❤ but dont ever tell someone that their night together was a mistake 😢

Ok no one kill me i love the show i will always always always love the show…But..did anyone else think that maybeee this episode wasnt the best of season 2? it wasnt bad! it was ok with a good begining and great ending twist. And i get what they r doing they r showing how they have different futures in mind, and also make big decisions with little thaught. I get it, its just, a touch clunky. I could do this for my whole life! and plan to!” Eds face goes from a smile to a frown, and says “I-I..whole life?..I but-I have to go, ill see ya later” He walks off to think, Stedes confused, and later we see Ed getting a job. This shows us what triggerd Ed to do this. This rewrite doesnt change alot, it just makes the execution a tiny touch smoother in my opinion ya know?
