Thanks to awesome and knowledgable subscribers it appears this is Dendrobium Nobile Star Class Apollon- from a Dutch grower. I shall be re-labelling tout-suite! For more on Dendrobium care see this playlist: ua-cam.com/video/s_3ZRE3QJu4/v-deo.html
Thanks Diane. I must admit to being rather rough and ready in its treatment - I didn't think it would ever produce a mass blooming like this. I might have to give it a bit more respect in future...😂
What is the best potting medium for nobiles and what should I do when I have a nobile with very shrivelled canes and no leaves let alone leaves and flowers?
Does it have any roots? If it does then I'd use something well drained but with some moisture retention i.e. like a cattleya type media but add in a bit more moisture retention. Maybe bark and some sphagnum and perlite, or clay pellets... Dend. nobiles are so cheap these days it might be better to start again with a new one - although I'm a good one to talk - I try to save them when there's nothing but a stub! Good luck!
Very beautiful blooms and huge plant! I have 3 nobiles and a bamboo orchids which is very similar. They haven't had time to rebloom yet but hopefully will this winter or spring. I know what you mean about the keikes...
I have to confess that I've treated it pretty rough in the past! If I'd known it would eventually put on such a great show I might have been nicer to it...😂
You got my text then Ed? It's coming up in the next video - probably out on Wednesday or Thursday. Be sure not to miss it - it's going to go viral! (In a good way - haha!)
Id say den berry oda, but i got a hard time to keep any dendrobium...i got like 25 phals hybrids and some miniature species like Haraella Retrocalla, super easy to care for, got superb scent..Its funny some plants are hard to keep and easy to other people.
Yeah I agree - it depends on your micro-climate so much. If its needs are similar to what you naturally have then it's easy! Phals grow well in the house but really struggle in the greenhouse through the winter.

Beautiful blooming
Yeah it’s gone from being nearly thrown away to being one of my favourite orchids!
Beautiful blooms
Thanks! Hope you enjoyed it. 😁

Hi, Ive just been gifted exactly the same plant and it’s Dendrobium Spring Dream Apollon. Beautiful!
Would you believe I've nearly thrown it out several times! So glad I persisted.
Stunning display.
Just bought myself a few nobile type dens. They are very young but I will see how I go with them.

That’s gorgeous 🤩🤩
Thanks Nina - I take full responsibility for this rare and temperamental orchid!🤣
Nice upload
Thank you 🙂
Hi Geoff. Great looking dendrobium! I think it's Spring Dream Appolon.
I think you might be right Stephanie. I said it was more yellow than green in the centre but I never was any good at colours! 😂
