  • I was having kind of a rough day the other day. And one of the things that seem to help create some mental space for me, is decluttering and cleaning up! I tackled our kitchen area, my office space and my closet, and it was so great because it really helped me get refocused again! So check it out, I hope you guys will enjoy this video :)

Ever since I started decluttering and moving towards minimalism 3 years ago (getting rid of 90% of my stuff), life is so much better and less stressful! I have 3 teenage sons who I am hopefully inspiring. What I have noticed, is that you have to really stay on top of things and make sure everything has a place, but its so worth it. BTW, I love your white and bright kitchen.

This was a very inspiring video. The one thing that always strikes me when I undertake a decluttering project is how quick and easy it is. It is also a very freeing feeling after it is accomplished.

Great video! I'm currently living in a teeny tiny Japanese apartment, and I've found the key is to have a place for everything. Then when I come home, instead of just dumping everything on my desk, I take the 3 minutes it takes to put everything back where it belongs, instead of having to spend 20 minutes doing a big sort at the weekends! Plus I can then enjoy the clutter free specs during the week... it does take practice though! :) looking forward to the future vids you mentioned!

That painting that you are working
on so far looks lovely. It would be
great to see a video of the painting
when it is finished. Fun video.

Yay! Very motivational! Can’t wait to see your room makeover. I’m the declutterer and tidier in the family. I purge regularly but also keep items if I definitely know that they will be used in the future. Love your channel! Great video!

You may have already gotten rid of the sweater but some ideas for next time-turn it into a pillow cover! Or, you can make it into a scarf! I need to go thru my clothes soon too; the weather is changing soon so I am prepping for cold weather!

Just tidy up and declutter in your
own way and time. I read the
Marie Condo book but did not
put it into action. The thing I
did gain from the book was
that if you enjoy wearing / using
    something on a regular basis
then keep it or pass it on but get
it out of our life. Personally I also
feel many people have been kind
    of brainwashed from the book.
Maybe they needed this - who
knows. But living in a four season
country as you do things like
    winter shoes and jackets need
to be stored and used when the
    right season comes.

Exactly, and I'm all about experimenting but I don't like rules to much so having a guideline works way better for me:)

I have majorly decluttered over the past year to a state of almost minimalist and uber-tidy. However, all it takes is one hectic month like the end of the school year (I'm a teacher) and everything falls back into total mess. I'm thinking that like taking antibiotics, I didn't go to the very end of the process before thinking I was done. I'm on to it now the summer break has started.

That is so true, it really takes work at least on a weekly basis, good luck on getting your house back during summer, that sounds awesome:)

I have to declutter a lot. I have been a minimal person for about 5 years but not my husband. He doesn't mind bringing in stuff but then can't stand it unorganized. Lol So I slowly organize and then eventually say enough is enough and cycle. I like to call them my cycles. My husband knows when I am cycling I am like a cyclone. I don't touch his personal items which oddly he has less than me in clothing but we had to compromise. He loves enough stuff and can't stand it empty. I like it empty with light and little important things. So all that to say compromise has led to cycling stuff to donation. However, we are careful now that the donation goes to a local charity or we just don't buy at all. :) We have some empty walls for me and others have decor for the home effect. :)

I like to put a timer so I can speed around the house and get stuff done. I think I like the challenge. I do this when I'm getting dressed to go somewhere. I'll tell my husband to put a 15 min timer and I speed through it.

the timer thing seems to be a common theme for a lot of people, I'll have to really try it:)

Please send me the beautiful sweater, big or small, I'd wear it, or tell your talented mother-in-law to knit me one. The sweater looks gorgeous!! I live in the Portland,Oregon, USA, area! Hahahahaha

Great video! We are two people in a large 2 level home. It would be easy to stuff it (and a few areas are getting there). I find setting the timer for 15 minutes and just tackling it gets me started and by the end of 15 minutes I’m motivated to keep going. Thanks for the inspiration- my craft room here needs a good going through. So not a Marie Kondo type either.

Well done! It can sneak up on you! When we move we will have a place for everything better. I know keeping the amount of things down like you do works, as it works for us :) I love these vids, as it keeps me motivated to live in a clutter free house :) It feels so good. Kat xx

I suggest for your pants to either get nice leggings or a good pair of trousers from khaki material. Khakis are nicer than jeans but still not too heavy (especially in the heat).
