As usual this did not disappoint. Love the amount of detail and professionalism you bring us David. This unitank looks simply amazing, time to check out your "How to buy homebrew gear and stay married guide" again for pointers on how I can get this past the wife!
David. Loved the video on the Brewtools F40 unitank. I watched the X2 unitank video, too. Do you have thoughts you might share that compare the two products? Thanks! 👍
David Heath re- the Brewtools Unitank, are there volume graduations on the inside of the tank, or does one have to make up the intended beer wort volume/ gravity in a separate calibrated container before transferring to the fermenter? Regards to you.
BIG HAIRY ARM ALERT!! lol not sure there is an option missing from the fermenter. Pretty sure I can't think of anything they missed. Great overview feature video! 👍🍻
Great video David. I've placed an order and hoping it'll arrive in the near future. I still need to purchase a glycol chiller for it tho. I'm wondering if you have had any experience with any other glycol chillers other that the grain fathers? I can't seem to find any other reviews on your channel. Big plus if you have used a ss brewtech or ice master G20 and have any feedback
Thanks Kurt. Sadly not due to availability here in Norway. There are pros and cons here though and the GF GC has its own built in pump and can serve up to 4 vessels at the same time.
Thanks David for the great video. Just ordered the F80. After I placed the order I did go back in to see what other accessories are available. They do not list all the recommended accessories or the fermenters. You have to search. I found the cip and thermowell after I ordered. I hope they can add on to my current ordered. Maybe David as some pull and can help me out.
Thanks Richard. Ive not made a comparison of thus type but I would recommend both Grainfather and Brewtools conical fermenters. They are at very different price points though, so it depends on what you are looking for.
Nice looking piece of kit, but conical vs unitank difference being you can serve from a unitank? But if so, you then lose your fermentation vessel for another brew until you've finished drinking? I may be wrong....?
Should i get a € 1.775,00 F40 Unitank or a € 850,00 SS Brewtech Bright Beer Tank. In my GF CCT i'm not getting any clear beer. No matter how many times i dump my hops residue. Cold crashing it for 3 days, and then I use a Beergun for filling 0.5 cl bottle's with some priming sugar 7grams/Liter. I like the Jacketed cooling on the F40 and the optional 500 watt heating element. But im afraid that clearing the beer in this F40 for 3 weeks with some yeast residue would not be good for the end product.
I would suggest simply using pressure to carbonate instead, if possible. If not then its going to be much easier to use carbonation drops according to bottle size.
Great content David, the quality of the equipment does speak for itself tbh, absolutely spoilt for choice with the options available for the FVs and you just know there will be lots more in the pipeline from Brewtools as well in the coming months, look forward to the upcoming fermenting vids...
Great video David - I was so impressed with the beauty and quality of these uni’s I have just hit the button on one plus heater, filter etc etc… I’ve been using a fermzilla, (but too afraid to go up to carbonation pressure) so I’m thrilled already, my wife however is going to go absolutely bananas... I may need to change my name to David and move to Norway…
@@DavidHeathHomebrew Thank you, I’m sure I will. Anyway I’m saved… I bought a case of half decent plonk, scraped the labels off and told her it makes wine as well… Come on. That has to be one of the best yet surely
I am hesitant to offer what many call a “review” these days and prefer a more honest title of “Overview and first impressions”. There really cannot be a final word on something until many months of testing and by then people consider the product to be old news.
Hello David, another great video. Thanks. A question, when you will share a video using this unitank with grainfather glycol chiller. Will be great if you could explain in how we could connect both systems and how to use them together. A last question :) I have a grainfather G70, my batches are usually between 50-65 liters. Do you think that the unitank F80 is good enough, or I could go for the F140. My point is, the F80 is ideal for20-75l bathes and the F150 for 40-140l batches, since my batches are around 60 liters, both fermenters will work. If I decide for the bigger fermenter, then, in the future, If I increase my production, I just need to buy a kettle with higher capacity, since I already have the fermenter. Please, let me know if this make sense for you or I’m missing something here? Thanks a lot.
Thank you for this one. I don’t need this, but I really do want it! When you test the chilling capabilities are you going to run it off your Grainfather chiller?
Cheers Ron. Yes, I have the new GF glycol chiller adapter and I will be showing how you can connect various fermenters and unitanks to to the GF chiller using it.
@@DavidHeathHomebrew I was going to ask you for a recommendation on which glycol chiller to use for 2 F80 unitanks but you already pre-empted my question by saying that your next video is on the GF glycol chiller. Do Brewtools have an option coming down the line perhaps too? Another question... Best way to clean the unitank? Recirculation of detergent via a pump? Is there a spray ball option? Or full manual cleaning?
i have the grandfather 30 litre system... 25 litres seems just out of capacity, would 24litres work with the glycol but just slightly less efficiently?
Nice summary one question what are the losses from the fermenter ( “ignoring” hop losses) so voloume from racking arm to dump valve if you get my drift. On the 7G ssbrewtech I usually have around 2.5L. So fill to 26.5 and keg 24L.
I have now discussed this with Brewtools. The problem is this is a real variable depending on the yeast and beer. I do not think you will find it so different to your current experience.
@@DavidHeathHomebrew I guess you could dump the yeast first, then keg from the lowest port if you wanted to minimize losses. First pour from keg would probably be more yeasty though.
Great video as always. When I was looking to go stainless, jacketed conicals were my first choice, but there were few options. These vessels are impressive tanks, but they do carry an impressive price too. While I've already invested in the Spike ecosystem and quite happy, (1 Flex+ and 1 CF10), if I were to do it again, I still don't think I'd pay up to the Brewtools level. Gorgeous vessels tho.
Thank you, much appreciated. Spike make decent units from what I can tell (cannot buy them in Europe) but Brewtools quality is super amazing. Its a budget choice in the end :)
Question: are the 34mm TCs compatible with 1.5” TCs? It seems like it would be off by ~4mm, but I know sometimes folks don’t actually mean measurements literally.
I am interested in what glycol chillers work well with this piece of art. Got the F100 on order, and currently saving up for the cold side of things. Just what to shoot for here is tricky! Edit: and love the vid!
Another great video. I'm just starting my brewing journey with a Pinter 2... a small 6L uni tank... I've created a channel to document my journey so far... I'd be interested in your thoughts... thanks again, really interesting video as always :)
As Always, most informative films on UA-cam regardless of subject. Thanks David, exactly what I was looking for! 👌

Great to hear Alan. Haha yes these are not budget, quite the opposite but then when you consider the quality and features its to be expected.
My approach is to show a larger model than you plan for, and make it her idea to go for a smaller model!
Haha, very nice idea :p
Another great vid. Very helpful as always, thanks David. Can’t wait for the trial results by which time I hope my 40 will be here!
Much appreciated Phil. I look forward to testing this :)
Awesome video David the 40 L is just as impressive as it’s larger siblings. I can’t wait to see what the boys in Grimstad come up with next!
Many thanks Bradley. Yes, sure is :) Yes, exciting times for sure :)
I’m so happy that the guys in Grimstad is just an hour away 😁
3 hours for me :)
Great video as always! Looking forward to more videos with the unitank in use as I count the weeks until my preordered F80 arrives:)
Thanks Tommy, I look forward to using it more also :)
Dream toy!! Ideal for tap room settings. That's what I've got in mind
Yes, these are just great for sure :)
Fantastic job! Drooling all the time while watching it. I have a Spike CF5 now but eyeing the F80 in near future.
Thanks Jon, yes this is really something special for sure.
The more Brewtools videos I see the more equipment I want. Great video🍺

Excellent looking and professionally presented product which is shadowed by the superb review.. again thanks

Dang it David, I was all set & excited for the Spike CF5, now this Brewtools Unitank has me rethinking
There are always plenty of options 🍻🍻😎

Hi, congratulations :) Best thing is to contact Brewtools about this. They have very good customer service :)
Outstanding video! If I didn't want to extend the legs, is there enough room to be able configure the two 2" valves without hitting each other?
Yes, no problem there. I included minimum height at the end of the video.
Thanks David you make really helpful videos. Have you compared BT unitaks with others such as SS? Which do you use?

how would you recommend to add and mix a sugar solution for bottle conditioning if the tank is pressurized.

Hi :)
I covered this topic with this video:- ua-cam.com/video/KU2CaEnxPoU/v-deo.html
As for which Brewtools unitank I think the F80 is the better choice for you. The F150 is going to use a lot of gas on 60L batch for a start.
@@DavidHeathHomebrew Thanks for your answer. And If I put in the equation the F100, you still have the same opinion?
I think its best to find something that best fits your volumes. The pick between F80 and F100 is certainly closer.
