So I subscribe to lots of smithing channels and try to watch as many as I can to learn as a beginner. But I gotta say your channel, you content and of course your good self are by far he most enjoyable, informative, easy to understand and well just plain invaluable. Thankyou so much don’t know what us new guys would do without your well thought out content and experience
Well mate, just have to say I am a learner and find find your videos very informative and interesting, your a natural teacher and I appreciate you passing on your knowledge. Your a true gentleman
good video. I found a swage hammer head on our farm. I was trying to find out what it was. It's stamped Y P with an anchor between the letters. I have not found a bottom part yet.

The top swage handles prove you do not use them very much, they have no patina, they look new.
i was looking at files because i cant aford a belt grinder right now and was farily shocked to find out they cost more than a cheep harbor freight grinder i can get its not going to last long but half the price of one first cut bastard file
Is there a special reason for the painted (red/white) swage? Always informative. "Tool of the Day" is like taking a daily iron tablet with you vitamins (pun intended). It's good for you.
I've enjoyed your 'Tool if the Day'. Told my dad about it tonight while we were in the shop. Hope it keeps going. Guess we'll be seeing you on Saturday as well.....

With the excess vibration from using a striker, is that the reason some smiths essentially "wrap" a metal handle around their top tools?
I think that is part of it, plus the metal handles are seen as a permanent solution.
