  • This nifty tiny device transforms your phone into an electronics troubleshooting thermal camera. It can also be used for surveillance in total darkness to detect humans and animals, so very useful for prepping, in an SHTF scenario.

The minimum 2X magnification is great for use as a short-range rifle scope,

Affordable, detailed thermal USB-C monocular with a versatile mounting system - the X2 is perfect for pest control or as part of your toolkit.

I used one alot for new construction, it's kinda amazing how much gets blamed on "the heating guys". Idk what the experience is with this one?

    Very cool thanks for sharing.
I bought the Klein Tools TI290. It’s pretty awesome. It’s for looking for hotspots on solar installations and electrical work/connections.
Good too for seeing heat signatures in the forest when the poop hits the fan!

If you want to add thermal optics to your toolset or hunting arsenal but don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on a handheld machine or scope, the Xinfrared X2, at less than $400, is a fantastic midrange option that outperforms even more expensive solutions and offers a significant quality bump from the usual built-in smartphone thermal cameras.

what is a real difference between these and the now $140 thermal phone cameras? im looking into mounting one on my rifle and mounting the phone to my helmet. im having a hard time finding the pros and cons in the 150-400 range. ideally i want higher refresh rate, 200m range is acceptable.

I have the Caterpillar S62pro mobile phone which already has flir built in to it. They also do one that has a laser measure as well. I use it regularly when experimenting with baluns and other circuits.

Useful. But may go for The RPi IR camera. Cost less but does more or less what it should do.

Thanks Gil for this review ! Will you be involved in the celebration of the 100 years of the first transmission across the Atlantic on 100m, between Nice and Detroit ? The anniversary is on November 27th. It was between Léon Deloy F8AB and Schnell 1MO, according to the plaque on the facade of the house on Mont-Boron.

Impressionné par les essais, mais loins d'être bon marché (>900chf sur Ali) !
D'autant plus qu'il me aemble que ce n'est pas autorisé en Suisse..
Merci pour la découverte ; )

    Thanks

Where have you seen that temperature range? On the manufacturers page I only see 0°C - 100°C.

I thought about that but it can't see through glass, so it would have to be in front.. They do make thermal scopes of course, but the prices are still high..
