    One thing I want my fellow CNA’s to know is that we are not a certain nurses assistant. Some will treat you like shit and try to make you do all their dirty work. Don’t. Have them help you it’s their job too. You’re employed by the hospital not the nurse. You are not their punching bag. You have your own job and you have your own patients.

    I'm doing the CNA program at the being of next year. I'm not nervous about taking the program, I'm more nervous about going into the hospital and working. My goal is to go from CNA to LPN to RN to BSN. I feel like I need to be a CNA first and each step I take will be easier working in the hospital. This video help.a lot.

    My grandmother was a nurse for 20 years before she passed away and she would always say “what good would it do for my to give this patient medication if they weren’t bathed cleaned and fed?” She always stressed to me how important cnas were and how unappreciated they were and how they always deserved more recognition and respect than they actually got.

      Thank you for this. I worked as a CNA for 29years. I am sad that I too old to do this anymore. It was a blessing to me. Everything you said is true. I. was 42 when I began and became very dedicated to my patients . The Healthcare system would collapse without you. So be proud of your job, not everyone could do it. GOD BLESS.

      @Emma L But techs are nurses aids like a CNAs are, we just work in a hospital. And there may be a bigger difference than I realize, but as far as I know PCTs are just nurses aids that do a little more because of the hospital setting (like EKGs or blood draws). As far as I know, techs also don’t require certification. At least I didn’t.

    Thank you for this video! I'm planning to start a CNA program in June and have been extremely nervous because this was not a part of my plans since I am wanting to go into diagnostic medical sonography. The DMS program at my school is fairly strict with their requirements (like needing 800 hours of patient care experience prior to applying). I felt being a CNA would be my best bet at gaining experience physically and environmentally since I have no experience in the medical field.

      there are other jobs that will count as you having direct patient care. look up the school to see what jobs fit that criteria. some other options are: EMT, medical assistant, home health aide, dental assistant, etc.

    I’m a CNA just started working in a nursing home lord I have been having a hard time getting adjusted not sure if I should quit this whole nursing thing or not. I still want to be a nurse. Or if I should start working at another nursing home or not. I’m not sure what to do when I get on the floor. It’s a lot of patients and I’m like God how am I going to do this yep. I already have a nurse who was being really rude towards me wouldn’t help me at all. I had to lift a patient by myself. That I am not use to. I feel nervous and scared as a CNA. I’m hard on myself. Things don’t come quick to me as they do for others. You all pray for me. I enjoy taking care of others.

    • @AleysiaKSmith
      @AleysiaKSmith  3 роки тому +6

      When starting out it can be overwhelming at first, it’s not an easy job at all. Creating a routine helps me. I would give it time. However if feel you or your patients aren’t safe I would find another job that works best for you. Don’t hesitate to ask for help because you are there to work as a team. If you feel in anyway that nurses or others aren’t helping, I would speak up. There are hospitals, home care and several others jobs as a CNA if the nursing home setting isn’t for you so don’t give up! I hope this helps! I wish you the best of luck!🤍

    My dad, a nurse, is constantly putting down the CNA career. I want to become a CNA to get DPC and HCE and I feel like this is the best way to get it fast. My dad says that I’m going to have to lift 500lb patients, lift other super heavy items in general, etc and that I can’t do it. Do I have to be super physically fit for this job? My dad is psyching me out lol

    • @AleysiaKSmith
      @AleysiaKSmith  3 роки тому +4

      Being a CNA is a very heavy job, however you will have help. There are many different types of patients in facilities so yes there could be a possibility of having to take care of an overweight patient. Taking care of patients is part of the job role, but you wouldn’t be lifting anyone alone for your safety reasons. If you need help you have the right to ask. The only way to know if it’s for you is to try it out for yourself! Best of luck to you!

    I hated my job as a CNA, just being honest. It was backbreaking, the nurses were rude and lazy, the pts tell stories that isnt true. Praise the Lord, I'm not working now. Sorry with the crap pay and covid, NOPE! I bet you CNAS didn't make more to work during the pandemic but the nurses did.

      @@AleysiaKSmith I'm glad you made good money! When I worked I only received at most $12.00 an hour. Then when I moved to a place close to DC, I looked at jobs working as a CNA, most of which paid $16-$18 an hour. It's not all about the money, but it's back-breaking work so I would love to see CNAs get $20 and up, they deserve it. ❤️🥰 Have a blessed night! Thank you for writing back

    I am taking the course but I don’t intend on using the license. I am taking it to get into nursing school. My instructor said “ the CNA’s do all the dirty work. The RN gets to sit back and use their brain.”
    I am sorry but that’s messed up. Fortunately nursing will be my second career. However, for the amount of work and pay CNA’s make I’ll pass. I make way more with less stress. Good luck to you all.
