Inside Singapore's Largest Egg Farm

- Singaporeans are #egglovers. There is no way to make their favourite chai tow kway (carrot cake), half-boiled eggs, or even chili crab without eggs.
27% of the eggs in Singapore are actually produced by local farms. Seng Choon Farm is one of the largest suppliers, producing around 600,000 eggs a day! CNA Insider got an exclusive inside look at their farm to see how automation is used to maximise productivity.

Oh I get it, it's a factory for producing eggs
Eggcellent.
actually an eggplant and an egg is a good match :D
My chicken farm is much smaller and doesn't need anyone to work in it. Just needs some hoppers,a dispenser and a redstone clock
and how many chickens do you keep in your 1²m pen? Any more than 2 im gonna have to the feds on ya
theshuman100 mate it’s a joke about Minecraft
Sad to see all these....
I farm pillagers instead. They are much more profitable than selling eggs and chicken :)

I think the Dutch companies. "Kipster" is the way how farms should be.
Caged chicken eggs arent that popular amongst the west Europe consumers.
Mind blown, thank you Seng Choon :)
Love the tech involved!!

Congrats , thanks for sharing knowledge, very grateful. I am 14 years old and I just completed Junior High School from Ghana. Through research, I came across this UA-cam channel and it was very insightful. I have passion for poultry farming and I need further experience and whoever can offer me grants.
As an American, I’m interested to hear about what your typical day in Ghana is like?
Also, your English is better than most Americans!

i'm a Seng Choon eggs consumer 😁
I have 5 chicken in garden, we dont need expensive feed-system, I feed chickens by myself, with one hand! They produce 1-2 eggs per chicken and this is all we need!!!
Great..sufficient for a family and low maintenance.
This is the cleanest egg farm I ever seen. That made me feel better for the hens. Also that they are not pumps full of antibiotics.
Anything for the camera
They live in tiny cages stacked one above the other and never see daylight ... they’ve never even breathed fresh air... how does that make you feel better for the hens ?!
It's still a battery farm though. Just cleaner and automated. Given the choice, I would still prefer to buy free range eggs when available, even if they cost more. Feels a little bit more ethical at least.
@@TheWotageek free range? watch supersize me holly chicken and see what free range can fall into. hahahah
@@TheWotageek free range doesn’t really mean anything although it is slightly better. Buy pasture raised or support a local small farm!
Its completely worth the money that I pay for it..

@Camilla Johansson I dont think "suffering" is the right word, also goodluck finding a way to provide millions of people with affordable price without making the chikens "suffer"
@Camilla Johansson I still dont think organic is the future, population will increase inevitably, demanding more production and makes little organic farms less effective to fulfill current market demands. Also keep in mind that chickens are animals, that means they cannot contribute anything to society. Sure organic eggs are more healthy, but less production and higher price making it only can be consumed by rich and middle class.
@Camilla Johansson yes, organic food should be the only way for the future. These factory chicken and these eggs taste rubbish.
Singapore ...one of the only place where even an industrial chicken farm is as clean as your local clinic ! Amazing place .

@@bananajohn7689 Can you even read? This is a system specifically designed to get rid of the crap.
2:35 do u really think it's clean??? They didn't scrape or wash it with water. I bet it is still so smelly even with ventilators.
@@vm6445 That’s the poo conveyor ! Do you expect it to be clean !!!
Do u think the cage doesn't have chicken poo sticking on their cage? My father used to have chickens before and I know how their poo stick on the bottom of the cage/floor. Do u think these chickens can even see the sun or even breathe for fresh air? Or even walk just a few meters away?
Can Singapore have multiple multi-storey agriculture farm buildings instead of traditional single storey farmhouses?
This pandemic has taught us that food security is essential for any country. Good thing Singapore at least has healthy eggs
free of antibiotics! One day they could even export eggs!
Can you show the hatchery where they get the egg laying hens?
Wow very nice farm, fully automated layer farm

Singapore has 4 National Taps. Now going for 2 National Hens for self sufficient egg supply. 😂
@tk421missing I actually want to know who has Singapore robbed?
@@ZeHydra ignore the above troller. Pathetic foreigner
Guys you don't have to watch this video.
According to most sources, this is what you have to do to have a successful poultry farm.
Step 1: give your birds as little space as possible.
Step 2: make sure that they have to stick their head through cold metal bars to eat.
Step 3: if a chicken is being bullied, don't help it. Don't have any concern of suffering animals.
Step 4: make sure they only have just enough food to survive and lay eggs.
Step 5: make sure your birds never see sunlight. Its bad for them you know.
If you follow these directions you will become a succesful poultry farmer.
Oh, wait did I say succesful? I meant cruel, Inhumane, and selfish.
😂 😂 😂 you sir are a moron
i have five hens and enough for me and my family of four.
This egg brand is quite premium.
the best CAFO i've seen so far, still needs improvement
Love the music! >,
My mother always buy "Made in SG" eggs such as Seng Choon cos its safer and has better quality control bc u dont know how dirty the overseas egg farms can be or what they use to feed the chickens
Pretty amazing.
I wonderr..what if one step is broken (i.e : crack egg inspector or feeding automatic)..are they cause all system sutdown or not..?
obviously not
Very nice operation. Are your hens all Rhode Island Reds?
Fantastic people working hard every day to feed millions.
Are Seng Choon's eggs delivered in air conditioned cool vans? In Singapore, the internal temperature of a van like tgis can reach more than 40 degrees C. Eggs will be contaminated very fast.
lol, these people in the comments want their eggs to come from a chicken who stays in a 5 star hotel with a personal butler but isnt willing to pay 50 cents for an egg. lol get a grip!! this is what reality is like.
Yeah grow your own eggs and hatch your own fruit and veg
If only in my state it would be legal to have Domestic chickens but nooo, we can't because disease when in reality it is mosy likeky a Draconian move to protect farm industries.
Whoosh
We buy eggs from chickens raised on pasture only

Wow! Super impressive:))). America needs to emulate for sure! Chickens look happy and healthy and everything is supe clean:)
That's *identical* to an American operation. He even said his father went to America to learn about egg production. Pay attention.
Cleaner maybe, but happier and healthy living their whole life in a cage and only eat one food, I don't think though.
This is eggcellent well done
yup
how much acres is this farm on
what do they do with eggs with blood spots? i wont mind buying those if it helps save wastage..
Anyone Plz tell ma about Breed of this Hen.. Is this RIR?
Hi, question here for the Singaporeans out there. How much land does the Singapore government allocate for farming and agriculture? Based on the start of this vid, looks like Singapore has a sizable plot of land for the farm we saw above.
factories and companies that takes up a lot of space are usually at the edge of the Singapore. Thats why you dont see any high rise building around it. Singapore land is small but proper planning by gov allows that to allocate the % of land for different purpose.
Beautiful
Wow
Just wow!😱
beautiful queen how are you doing I hope everything is fine with you. You are so beautiful like a queen
What company built this egg farm?
I would like to visit Singapore, is there a host?

Man this must of been an expensive investment. Whew
@tk421missing Someone is spending a lot of time in the conspiracy section of UA-cam lol..
this is pretty normal for a large scale automated farm. you can see stuff like this in the states and europe as well.
Actually IMO tk421missing is right i might not know much about SG situation but the system he is refering to on debt is almost exactly how i see how the world has been made. Its not about thinking too hard but a self realization of a bigger truth. About the video i am kind of confused bcoz he didnt actually tell what technology it is. If he was refering to thd facility and farm equipment its just a flashy sparkling machinery that if which seem productive with a good roi he can just ask for more loan oh great another debt then buy expand like CHN style. A simple question i would like to share which people should ask themselves "if a country is rich then why does it have so much debt"
@tk421missing and USA owes everyone 21 TRILLION. 1 billion is literally nothing
@tk421missing instead of a logical debate you are just resorting to personal attacks. Seems like your parents have failed in your upbringing.

Oh not home say hell on 0:17
Most people think that animals are not treated badly and that all the videos that do say that are just the worst cases, and they just want you to believe them. This is proof right here that conditions are not good; the video isn’t anything about animal welfare, it’s literally just a look inside of a farm. And if they are willingly showing you that, they just don’t think it’s a problem and apparently many think the same. I know everything looks kind of clean but the hens are tightly packed into cages which I find ridiculous.
Nice video
Can someone help me ? How much in USD can someone set up such a farm ?Thanks
Not a farm but a factory
Is that RIR chicken?
Chicken having its period..
It does not even mention whether the chickens have enough space to move, or whether they will be slaughtered after laying eggs
There are chicken farm (farms!) in Singapore?
Thats 18million eggs in a month! How many people are in singapore or do they export some of it? Just curious
err... i believe the average Singaporean eats more than 3 eggs a month.. 18 mil eggs a month is still under production..
i wana eat ... 8 half fry .. sunny side ups in one single breakfast
Good jobs
after chicken, now i want to search about beef, mutton, pork farm
if only they could run that conveyer poop removal belt for longer so the hens can use it like a treadmill
600,000 eggs a day! are you kidding me. 1,000 local farmers in my state cannot produce that in a year. Can you imagine. 27 football field and fully automated. This is money and investment
Woaw ..what an operation.?
one set compost tank can turn about 10 tons fresh chicken manure into 3-4 tons high quality organic fertilizer every day (moisture content: about 30%) with deodorization system to remove odors.
Cool fact! Thanks Frank :-)
Sad to see free range hasn't made it there yet

Where did the word egg come from?
mid-14c., from northern England dialect, from Old Norse egg, which vied with Middle English eye, eai (from Old English æg) until finally displacing it after 1500; both are from Proto-Germanic *ajja(m) (cf. Old Saxon, Middle Dutch, Dutch, Old High German, German ei, Gothic ada), probably from PIE *owyo-/*oyyo- "egg" (cf ...

No difference with what the people of Singapore are living like to be honest, just having water and food is enough already
Employers always complained difficult to find workers but they never mentioned the pay.
