Thanks for the update on the truck. My uncle used to restore old tractors in Washington he bought from around the country but mostly in IL, MO, OR WA and CA.
So happy to hear you are leaving the truck original! It can only be original once! Since you know the history of the truck is so cool! Your making great memories for your boys too! Can’t wait to see this truck back on the road. 👍🏻
My dad had a Chevy pickup like this.. He had a series starting with 1947. 1948, 19491 1950.Over a period of over 20 yrs he went through a lot of these. Last one had a 5 speed transmission with a super low.
Nice update, projects like this always take longer than we think, but you're doing it faster than most, LOL so long as it doesn't collect dust again, I think we're good. LOL.
Try to find a Fenton ,or like split manifold and run duals and glasspacks. Thats what we did back in the day. Makes that sis sound soooo good! Todd the retired trucker.
Great to watch your Videos about the 3100 here from Germany 😉. I also own (for the second time) a 54 3100 and i'm big Fan of that Trucks. It must be awesome to find such a long storaged Pickup and bring it back to life. Kind regards from Germany, Robin 👋
Exhaust systems are factory tuned - for particular applications. So changing the diameter, lenghth or muffler capacity can effect engine performance or fuel economy.
The 5 window I drove in 1978 had a leak in the tank behind the seat. The owner said he would start to feel it if he drove more than an hour with windows up. Most put a tank under it.
Hi Tracy my name is Tracy to my brother Dave had a 1951 Chevy and he had to sell it when we was younger and I've been trying to find another one since and no luck
I have not had time to inspect the tank, but I'm sure its nasty. I will be making a temporary fuel cell for now to get it going. And yep, all new lines. Thanks for watching.
Great & safe idea. Dual circuit is a must, new wheel cylinders also. I'll never forget driving my dad's 1952 when the left wheel cyl blew on it; going downhill. Had no brakes. Lost all brake fluid because of the single circuit brake. Was able to get the truck in granny gear which slowed it down enough for me to make the slight bend at the bottom of the hill. I'm still shaking just typing this.
Is there a NAPA Store near you? I found almost all my parts at NAPA. I presume you also know about Chevsofthe’40’s.? Parts for My 1941 Master Deluxe, factory unrestored, came there also.
Hello Tracy, you don't know how interesting this project is to me and I am just wondering if you can put it in one single clip so that it can be followed from start to finish without no interruption .
June 1947 - March 1955. 8 years of that body style can't be wrong. Drive On! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Advance_Design -daily driver 3100 '53 5 window half ton s.b. 82219
Thanks for the suggestion Michael. The front jack stands are really wide based. And the rear ones are for a tractor, set on the lowest point. Its definitely a safe setup. But I would agree, not to set it up that high on regular small automotive stands.
Your 1 7/8 muffler pipe was probably gutter downspout pipe son, 1949 was WW2 era. My Dad had one. That's what they used. Do yourself a favor change over to 12volts. your wiring will last longer.
Nice Minneapolis, I have my Grandfathers Z it was parked for years went to get it running put coolant it it fuel went turn it over with out plugs and out comes antifreeze found a pin hole in the very top the cylinder and had a guy try to fix it and he sand blasted it to have a clean surface to work with it and he said the cylinder is really porous like it had a coating on it any idea what coating was in the cylinders ? Or of a good cylinder head or who to call? By the way truck is super cool!
I would call Welters Farm Supply in Varona Missouri. They have a lot of old Minneapolis Moline parts. And extremely knowledgeable. Thanks and good luck.
Sell the truck to someone that can do what’ s needed ! Standard procedure , send the gas tank out & taken care of and while you’re waiting for it to come back , rebuild the carb , change oil & plugs & wires. Then change all wheel cylinders , repack bearings change pads and rubber brake lines. Forgot when you send gas tank out send radiator at same time. When tanks come back change radiator & heater hoses and put back together then you can drive safely, don’t cheap out. At most you’re into it for 12 to 1500 bucks. Do it right or ..... !
would love to find 1 my wife would like to have an old truck to go get feed and drive around town nothing fancy anybody have a ball park price what I should expect to pay for 1
I found a 1949, 3100 in Tucson, Arizona last month, would be perfect for you judging on what you need it for. If you're from Arizona, I would suggest checking it out, was priced at 10k.
Just needing to make a cheap *temporary* fuel tank until I can afford a new factory tank. Or try and clean the current tank if its not too nasty. So no need to spend good money on a fuel cell, if it's only temporary...

Tracy, I rebuild a 50 1 ton in the 80s. Great trucks.
Your truck is truly a gem find! Looking forward to your first ride!
My buddy just bought a 52 3/4 ton Chevy. Very solid original truck out of NC. Green like yours. Love the project, keep the videos coming.💪🇺🇲👍

That was a lot of dust for sure lol
What a blast! I started working at NAPA right out of high school - still recognized a lot of those part you bought.
That's awesome!
First vehicle I ever drove looked just like this truck down to the color and seat. Hope you get her on the road.
That's awesome Baylor.

I picked up an Offenhauser dual intake and Fenton split exhaust manifold. Also a Pertronix ignition. I'll make that a winter project!
I don't know how this guy doesn't have more subscribers his content is great. Only thing I can see is that he doesn't make constant videos.
Thanks Caleb. We are pretty busy at times, and makes for doing consistent video's challenging. But I do appreciate all the feedback! 👍👍👍
GREAT BRAKE WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cant wait until you take him (original owner) for a ride! That will be a sight to see
That would be a sight to see, not in the least because the original owner has been dead since 1985.
@@reijerlincoln im saying as in the guy who sold it to him since technically he is the original owner?

Thanks for saying Hello Tracy! Good luck searching for a truck.
yea you can up the exhaust to 2 inch that wont hurt anything. IT for sure would have been replaced with that if it were still driving when you got it.
Very true
he he your draggin' this out .
this tuck is going to look brand once you finish it up hugsssssss from Ontario Canada
Of course it's not a standard flare.🙄😆
Nice work. Can't wait to see the fuel cell. Will you also be installing a flux capacitor?🤔
The flux capacitor is on backorder lol
New subscriber from KC, loving this series.
Good looking R.. I pull a U gas and my dad U propane. Love the MM’s. Like what your doing man keep it up
Thanks. What division do you pull in?
When I can.. just the 5k pound class. Job gets in the way of having fun. Plus in central Ky the antique class is slowly making a comeback
We need a video on your Minnie!
Will do!
Thanks for the update on the 49 Chevy! Will you be putting in a new fuel tank & lines? Looking forward to the next video!

Yay, been waiting on a truck update...work...wait...work...wait Probably a little frustrating
Dwayne Kendall I think more than that...work...beer...work...beer...work.

You should have put oil into all the cylinders.
I hope you left the Wassman signage on it as a tribute
Awesome. Please just put some light on your videos.

I have 53 Minnie MO bg1 which is odd I bought we are a 2 cylinder green and yellow family
Tracy beautiful find. How much did you get it for.?
Just thinking.... wouldn't it be safer to have the truck on blocking rather than the floor stands?
Thanks for the suggestion Michael. The front jack stands are really wide based. And the rear ones are for a tractor, set on the lowest point. Its definitely a safe setup. But I would agree, not to set it up that high on regular small automotive stands.

Why do I need to sell it..........
Try Squatch253 for Minneapolis Moline parts maybe he can help. He has his own UA-cam channel.
Yeah I seen he built a rare experimental moline. Thanks.
Don't run that engine on 34 year old gas. You'll do a lot of damage. Do get fresh oil (with high zinc rating) and new oil filter.
I called Schaefer oil today. Definitely looking for some high Zinc content oil. Thanks 👍
brot I have not followed all the videos but my question is in case you have said how much you paid.
Don't say you should keep her forever and then give it to your son
Next video???
