  • Everything Everywhere All at Once, which just won 7 Oscars, has a very specific look that heightens the world of the film. But can we recreate that look and feel just through color grading using Davinci Resolve?

    A few red flags in this video ;
    - Using the curves in the Linear node : reaally easy to break the image that way, I would recommend only moving the white point or just using the Gain wheel for exposure when in Linear.
    - Changing the Max Output of the CST in to 90 : that’s pretty much clamping all of the dynamic range of Davinci Intermediate to below the dynamic range of Rec709… The artefacts caused by the 2383 lut is more of a “out-of-gamut” colors problem than a “highlights” problem.

    I have been watching yall since yall have started! I was a teenager then and am now 37 years old! Yall videos have been not just educational but also incredibly inspiring through my filming career! So thank you for that! One of my biggest weaknesses is deffenitly color grading! I see there is soooo much put into a single shot! Would love to see what a color grading workflow looks like when you have to have the same grades or simular grades on a big project like a feature!

    Nice looks! Still need to watch this movie! Just be careful with the skin qualifier as it makes grades more difficult to copy across to other shots in a scene. Something more like the Hue vs Hue curves could be used to get the skin where you want it to be and it transfers better to other shots. :)

Curious how would you set up the input and output transforms, and how effectively you can use the LUTS that come with Davinci in that regard. Would love to see a video on that!

    Is there a way to check clips extracted with ACES from davinci properly in AE?
    I searched and asked various materials on the ACES forum, but I couldn't find it.
    It was a drama filmed with an arri camera, and the DI team gave it to the ACES region as a .EXR source.
    When I worked with AE, I didn't set the settings, so the highlights went over and black came out white.
    There was no problem when I worked on it and sent it, but there were many cases where compositing became awkward after coloring.
    I took rec709 as a standard, but the colors I saw in the field and the versions I had in the editing room appeared different.
    This only happened with ACES workflow.
    I'm really confused.
    Please forgive my poor English skills. But I am wondering if there is any way to fix it.
    Always looking good. Thank you.

      @BloodyMunchkin Рік тому

      @@kimtae858 You have just displayed how little thought you actually give their films, and possibly films in general. If you did, you would've understood that the Daniels use ridiculous concepts and weird/fun ideas as a vehicle for their stories' thematic messages. A farting corpse washed up on an island, interdimensional kung-fu and hotdog fingers ... these are just surface-level elements that conceal the deeper meanings. And THAT'S why they keep getting greenlit, homie.
