I had five friends move to LV between 2000 and 2009. They became me "hosts" and every year I went, I watched them get so much bitter and impatient. One of my friends had a gun pulled on him. Three have since moved and note how much happier they are now. It's not for everyone.

When I was in my early 20’s I knew several people who moved to Las Vegas from our rural California town. 20 years later I only know one of them that still lives in Las Vegas. It’s clearly not a town for people who aren’t willing to tough it out. I’m very proud of the person who managed to succeed in Vegas. He now owns his own private chef and catering business.

I was thinking about permanently moving to LV - no state income tax y’all - but just last week decided to wait. My real estate agent is, bless his heart, extraordinarily resourceful and ethical. He strongly urged me to wait to see if a significant downturn in the residential market may be on the horizon. So, in the interim, I will continue to watch your uploads from Colorado to see what wild-and-crazy Vegas adventures I am missing!

Your one of the rare ones to beable to live off gambling. Many tell you of their great wins, but never tell you of the great loses. If your good a poker, I might think you can do it, but how many poker players really know how to play the game and win. Nothing worse than having a guy with his 'how to play' card holding up a rapidly moving game. Slots are fun, but the computer beats you every time.

@@iworkout6912 Yes, don't be fooled , the house is set up to win every time. You have to play a lot to win that kind of money. I used to work in marketing for three casinos. I can tell you first hand, the people that would call and ask to be taken off the mailing list because they developed a problem and the casino doesn't gaf. they say they don't want your house payment but they do, they don't care, their attitude is we don't tie you to the chair and force you to gamble. You will also never hear about the people offing themselves due to their gambling problem. Or the prostitutes or hotel maids found dead in the rooms because someone lost a bunch of money and took out their anger on someone. I will not/ can't name them but it happened. It is kept off the news purposely. It is the every day joe that is the life blood of these places and they are the exact ones they don't give a care about, no matter how many paychecks they blow in their casino. and yes, it is on them but these places are not exactly blameless either. I have heard the remarks straight from their mouths. very uncaring as long as they get their bonuses and money, they don't care.

I moved here in 2006. Everything we moved here for is gone. We loved it at first. Good local buffets, free entertainment, deals for locals, free parking at the safe and clean Strip, no street performers, reasonable rents (and after the crash, 60% off houses, very sad for lots of folks). I haven't been to the Strip in years except driving over it to get to the other side of town. I've heard free drinks are few and far between now, and if you're buying, cost $20 each. People were extraordinarily polite. That's gone now, too (maybe stress). Weather is either too hot or too cold. Brief periods of perfect weather in between. Crazy drivers, advise to wait four beats before entering intersections or risk getting t-boned by a red light runner. Don't get me started about the medical care. One doctor (gave me bad vibes) turned out to have been arrested on drug charges, known for orgies in his mansion. Canceled that appointment. Bloom has definitely faded for me.

    • @JustMeB729
      @JustMeB729 7 місяців тому +2

Your right on a lot of things. The medical seems under par. You wonder about why would a doctor want to live there 🤔. And the driving is crazy. But the people (the original natives) that live here. Swear that it's the people from California that's reaking havoc. I moved there in 2007. But moved to Cali in 2017.

Yes, Ive been staying in Vegas during the Winters months since 2015, and first came to Vegas 1993, and yes to everything you've said, and if I may add, I like to walk daily 3 to 8 miles, , ( West Side of Town) , and I used to even walk at night time, NO MORE for a number of reason, but the traffic is bad, people do not care about people at cross walks or if someone has the green light, I myself was in my car sitting at a red light 3 years ago, an got ran into, cuz the person behind me didn't believe in red lights. Also the crime and homeless is bad, I stay 3 miles West of the Strip and homeless are sleeping in my condo area, and plugging their phones into the outdoor power outlets, etc. And now with more POT Shops open, so many folk driving while high. Also now folks just out for a morning bike ride are getting ran over by punk kids. I may in the future spend more time in Mesquite Nv. Pop. 20,500 and little crime and traffic.

@@stevenbetassa7329 Those kids running over that man were vicious 🤬
My husband has made remarks about my driving changing since we got here, doing what the Romans do, so to speak 🤣 Maybe I have adopted the classic Vegas four lane change (always gets a golf clap from me when I see it) but I am very careful at intersections. About the homeless - like the years after the housing crash, begging is picking up at gas stations and parking lots. I think it's worse this time. Those were very depressing years, all the stores closing. Then there was Covid...especially bad for a tourist town.

I’m a native of Las Vegas, born and raised. Truly, oldest of 14 grandchildren and only 4 born out of state. 2 out of 6 of my grandparents children born out of state. Absolutely love my city. Love this video, however, people will still move here despite the warnings lol. Very light and fun way of pointing out the changes. I plan on being here for a while. We keep finding places to build so guess I’ll see some of you soon neighbor. As for the comments about how “bad” it’s gotten, yet you’re still here lol. To each his own. Guess it depends on the person. Of course there are pros and cons in every city. But I choose not to complain. If there is something I can do to help (I.e. homeless) I do it. If I can contribute to someone having a stress free day, I’ll do it. I rather focus on things that are in my control and let God handle those that are not. Mental health is key. Fussing and complaining will get you closer to your departure date. Focus on the dash between your arrival and departure dates, that’s what you have control over. Or you can move. Why remain somewhere that’s sooo bad? My life in Vegas has never centered around the Strip, so my point of view may be biased. Las Vegas is where I live, spend time with family, water the real grass in my front yard, sit under the tree that’s still in my grandparent’s yard, go to church on Sundays, go exploring on Saturdays, take in 9 months of sunshine, cuddle for 3 months, spoiled by 24/7 eats and entertainment, and every now and then explore Downtown and the Strip, on my terms not when someone visits. Las Vegas is home.

I love Vegas, but I love VISITING Vegas. I've found the best thing to do is just avoid walking The Strip as much as possible. Go see the fountains from the casino side of Bellagio. Take an uber to The Mirage to see the volcano. But apart from that, just avoid walking around. Too many "performers" and generally just people acting crazy. When the weather turns cold up here in Seattle I dream of wintering down there, but I'm sure I'd get burnt out on it. Also, like you said about the greenery, I have two dogs and I don't think they'd love the desert landscape.

We’ve been looking to get out of California while we’re still in a financially good place and the passed couple trips have also included driving around and checking out newer neighborhoods like Summerlin and the McDonald area and loved it.

as i have mentioned before, i live in vegas myself, most of my life......i NEVER go anywhere near the strip, i dont care what is down there, it aint worth the trouble, nor the high prices.... once every couple years might take an uber or lyft to a concert.... other than that... nope..... go down there just for lunch, HELL no. not worth the trouble. i wont even cross the strip to go to the other side of town if any way possible to avoid it....i work in the casino business, and will not work in the strip casinos either, yes i could make twice what i make now or more than i do in the places i prefer to work doing same exact job for local customers.... but i can get to work from my front door to clocked in and on the game in 20 minutes and stop at the store and be home from work in 20 minutes. .... even though the strip is technically closer than where i work, it would take me over TWO HOURS to get to work, EVERY DAY... between traffic, parking, shuttle busses, walking etc etc. and then again to get home.... (45 minutes JUST to get out of one places employee parking garage i know for a fact) not worth the aggravation. i work to live not live to work... more money wont do me no good if it takes me 3 and 4 hrs of my personal time, high stress, pissed off fight fight fight to get thru traffic and tourists with head up their asses to work and back every single day, higher risk of accidents on top of it, people rubber necking instead of driving, on and on and on.

Outside the Strip, Las Vegas is a toilet. Rising crime, constant construction, poor infrastructue making travesing the valley a miserable expeerience. Couple that with an anything goes traffic. Just a simple jaunt across town can be a nightmare. I am retired now so moving at this stage would be financially stupid. If I were a young family with kids, I would look elsewhere. Horrible education system and poor leadership, whose primary goal is to kowtow to the gaming inductry while neglecting constituents.

I'm currently in Massachusetts with plans to move to Las Vegas soon! I've been there close to ten times so I know the lay of the land and how to move around out there. I don't mind the bright lights, the noise and the 24-7 atmosphere. I currently live in a city that has none of those options. In fact more places in my neck of the woods are closing than opening. I rather be where there's constant action and activity going on and if I have a bout of insomnia I can go to the bar at 3 or 4 O'Clock in the morning. I'm ready for it!

Spending a couple of days in Vegas is usually enough, but I love driving up I-15 heading toward Utah. Sometime take SR 93 and head due north. Just be careful, winter in the desert north can be very snowy starting in November, but part of it is just the peace and quiet of the desert. And seeing the old little shacks along the roads were at one time, People homesteaded it and tried to make a go of it. Ely is usually my destination mostly to ride the Nevada Northern RR.

Traffic cones are the state emblem.. always has been, always will be. Same with construction. And it rains and hell it even snows. I'm living in Washington state and Vegas had more rain than us😂. The only reason I'm not home is prices to live are out of hand.. nothing beats Vegas in the 80s.

It's not a big deal or a problem. I would freak out if I saw one, too but thankfully, even when I had a new house, I did not see one.

Most of us locals do not eat on the strip. 30 miles from the strip you can drive 10,000 ft up to a ski resort so close to many state parks so much to do off the strip. What buffet do you go to? Yes it is HOT for about 3 months out of the year otherwise the weather is beautiful. I here you talking about slots. You cannot live here and gamble otherwise you will be homeless. Rain we are lucky if we get 4” a year. Do a positive take of us who live here and have regular jobs and homes.

Thank you for that informative video I have lived here for 45 years when I first came here I lived at Ulta in Jones and people wanted to know why I lived out in the boonies summerlin didn't even exist !! We didn't even really need to use the freeways because the streets were always so clear you just zoomed by and you are correct about the traffic it is terrible my husband is a limo driver here in town and all he does anymore is say I'm sorry I'm sorry , I'm sorry, he doesn't even really want to drive after 14 years of doing it, it does put a bad taste in Taurus mouth when it takes so long to get places and they were joking that the traffic cone was our state bird before the F1 now it's even worse F1 was horrible for people who work here and myself included, we live one mile from the strip and I am a hangover nurse so I have to go to the strip a lot and sometimes it would take me an hour to get to the cosmo which used to take me 20 minutes tops... Because of our jobs and thank goodness for people drinking and getting hungover... We really do need to live here but I must say I love this town as much as I used to but I still do love it very much and I'm very proud of our Vegas golden Knights, I just don't think we need any more sports here in town because parking is so hard and it just makes you think twice whether or not you want to go to a venue when it's such a hassle to park not to mention the price of parking which used to be free I hate paying for parking because I'm an old Vegas person and I remember when !! Absolutely I love it and avoid the STRIP and Fremont at all cost. Lot of local things to do. Now the healthcare system...sigh

I personally could or would live in Vegas. Why, I am a player and could not afford to play as much as I am sure I would want to. Vegas has become a Disneyland with gambling, it was the main attraction an ADULT Oasis with no kids, teens, pets and freaks like it is now. Also if I lived there almost everyone you meet is working in some capacity in or around the casino life and that is all they talk about.
It would be better to go for say 2-4 weeks, of crazieness and leave.
