Is The Bambu Too Small for Helmets? Printing Full Sized Helmets On a Bambu Labs P1S!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 бер 2024
- I recently went to MicroCenter to pick up a new 3d Printer. I was super torn between the Bambu labs P1S and the Creality K1 Max. The Bambu sounded nice because I wanted reliability but the small build volume made me think I should be grabbing the K1 Max instead. Well I decided to go with the P1S and see if it was too small for helmets or If I was gonna be able print full size helmets on it. Hopefully this helps you figure out if this printer will work for you!

newbie here - I wouldn't have clicked your video if your channel name was Quest4Nostalgia... that doesn't tell me what you do. SaturdayMorningProps tells me exactly what I should expect and I'm totally down for it :D
Well I'm glad I changed it then 🤘 welcome to the channel
Dude, thanks for this video! It’s exactly what i was looking for 🎉
Happy to help! It was my biggest concern when buying a p1s
This video randomly popped up, I looked at your head scaling video a while back but never subbed, subbing rn. Your content looks AMAZING
Jacob I truly appreciate that 🙏🙌
Awesome take on what can be achieved with a smaller build volume printer!
You were a huge factor in me choosing the p1s!
After you are done rotating simply press right click and select “center”. This brings your helmet in the middle of the build plate so you dont have to manually move left and right.
Great tip
I liked the Quest4Nostalgia, I thought it was good. I saw where the name was going, hindsight and all plus nostalgia, but SMP rings really well. That's basically why I got into 3d printing, for saturday morning props/ toys I didn't have as a kid.
Thank you for sharing that with me and happy to still have you around 🤘
When you cut the files into different parts, how do you hide the gaps after gluing/welding them together? Would the Bondo glazing putty be good for that?
Yup depending on how big the seam, can use spot putty or real bondo
I know it can, just that orientation is important as is sizing, and do one half at a time.
I had the exact same thought debate with myself, K1 Max or P1S. Ended up with the P1S with AMS on sale, was about the same as the K1 Max pricewise. While I do regret it not being big enough to print a Clone Trooper helmet I AM stoked about the quality and ease of use. Coming from a Neptune 3 Pro and always fixing something or changing settings every other print. With the Bambu I load the file into the slice (Orca) send the file and print from my PC. Never have to check and if I want to I can do it from the slicer or the app on my phone. If you have the money or can get it cheap I say go for it. Might go Neptune 3 Max or K1 Max later on if I get into hardcore cosplaying or selling armor.
I now have a k1 max and P1S and still choose to print on the bambu more
Any chance you could share your support settings and print orientation on the bambu specifically. I've been trying to print ranger helmets from DO3d and Wicked on a p1p but the supports are crazy on them. Do you think the details on white ranger helmet needs supports from the inside? (the forehead patterns)
I'll try and make a video on it 🤘 I prefer snug supports on the p1p and paint them on usually
I was pretty torn between the K1Max and the P1S for the same reasons and I also ended up getting the P1S. Currently it's printing out pieces for my Halo Mk V[B] suit and this printer has been leagues better than my Anycubic I3 Mega and CR-6se and not to mention the AMS system has been great for swapping rolls as I run out.
I almost got the ams for that reason to have no waste but I couldn't get myself to pay that for it
If your head is small enough, or you cut it into parts yes! I print helmet parts on it but most on my Neptune 4 Max or K1 Max
Bambu is killing it in the printer game right now, glad to see you got something to treat you right unlike those *cough* elegoos *cough*
Has your k1 been treating you well?
Bambu is all just hype. Trust me i own one. Theres nothing impressive about Bambu. Other companies have caught up and surpassed them in value and features for less money
@@anthonylong5870 false. I also own one
You’re gonna make me switch to Bambu 😂😂
It has been a great printer, I'm a cheapskate and usually only buy used printers but really glad I got this
would it be possible to share some of your support settings? thanks again!
For the p1s I like to do snug supports and I often do manual painting, if it has hard to reach areas I do the hybrid tree supports
I have an Ender 3, a Neptune 3 Plus and a P1S. I haven't used the Ender or Neptune in months because the quality of the P1S is far superior. Just need Bambu to make a bigger version
That's the dream!
Searched for a video for sizing the ranger helmet, found your page. "All but the Green Ranger". Guess which one I am trying to print.... lol
So depending on your headsize it may be possible to fit on the bambu, but would probably be best to split the top from the bottom
I have the P1P. Worth every penny.
I would've done the p1p but they were back ordered for a month
@@SaturdayMorningProps p1p is just the naked version of p1s.
@@ChueKhang001 yeah I know I would've bought that and saved 100 bucks but they were back ordered for a month so I had to get the p1s
@@SaturdayMorningProps it's still a great buy. I would have bought P1S too. Next is the AMS.
Nice job. I’d be cool if you made the viper pilot helmet from the latest Battlestar Galactica.
That's an epic looking helmet
Yeah team Bambu FTW 🤣🤣
Answering the real question!
Thanks for your help on pushing me to get one
You should have gotten the Qidi Q1 Pro. Its better than the Bambu in almost everything. And its $200 less (I own a P1S btw)
For those 103% ones how did you tackle the magnet size issue?
Do3d and yosh seem to both use around a 8*2mm magnet, do3d at 100% often are too tight for those and I have to end up using my soldering iron to expand the hole, at 103% they still work fine with just super glue
Awesome! Yay for accidental tolerance!
"I have a very average head" 😂
I'm literally the old navy mannequin
