My great grandad was royal engineers, a captain at Dunkirk with great stories of this, after serving under monty at el alamein he was promoted to major, his final battle was monte cassino! Gosh ever so proud of him, great video
There's a viaduct on the M8 in Glasgow that's taking 5 years to repair (2021-2026). During those 5 years there are long tailbacks as four lanes of traffic have to merge into two. Journey times are considerably extended. I bet the Royal Engineers would have got the job done a lot more quickly.
Yeah, Postal and Courier service, but we don't talk about them. Royal Engineers by cap badge only, no combat engineering experience or qualifications. B4 knocker...
@@adrianinchina1528 With respect, this sort of detail does matter. If any bit of the civil administration breaks down for some reason, then the armed forces have to step in. In my lifetime I have seen them taking over fire brigade duties because of a strike. Currently they may have to provide ferry services to islands in the west of Scotland because there is a problem with that. We have also seen troops taking over some hospital administration duties because of strike action. It's good to know that the armed forces can provide all of these skills when the need arises. Hope you have a nice day.
@@Gloriosus Hi mate, Just for context, I served 13 years as a Sapper, so am talking from inside - as I suspect you are too. All that you wrote is exactly correct in regards to possible MACC/MACA/MACP involvement of a serving member of HMF- but still doesn`t justify bringing up gender, surely?
It’s hard to imagine how this tone of voice would be misconstrued as patronising or alien to serving personnel or anyone who hadn’t attended Sandhurst or RADA…
Your meaning from the point of view of an American soldier In WW1,2 or English soldiers from other training bases? Also I couldn't work out if you were being sarcastic or weren't being sarcastic?

Absolute historic greatness! Ex. @16:08 where you can plainly see the entire office staff has turned out for the film!
"Follow the Sapper" would have been my title for the film
Just goes to show, SAPPERS are the best fighting unit with in the British Army.

A comment with zero actual significance.
