Angelina was really enjoying that, trying new styles. At the end Egil, the guitarist, is shaking his head from side to side, that is a standing joke as he uses his head movements to keep time. In a previous rehearsal on the same day, she was laughing at his actions. These two certainly have a kind of chemistry, he knows how Angelina likes to change arrangements.
Egil is a family friend and has been doing jam sessions with Angelina from 7-12 years old while in Norway! I also like her nonverbal communication when she looks over at Egil right before he starts with the guitar!
Yes, Egil certainly became a family friend over time, but he only met Angelina the first time for the gig at the prime minister, as he told Alan Papier in his interview. That gig was in June 2014, after she one NGT, therefore they didn't play together when Angelina was 7. Even though she told this not so long ago on her socials, but she is likely misled by the wrong account of Mery, since Mery also titled some rehearsal sessions with Egil with a wrong age of 7. This can not only be shown by Egils account, but also by the state of her upper front central incisors in these rehearsal videos.

Thank you for another perceptive reaction. I haven't seen this clip before and it was very interesting to see her working on this song with Egil Clausen, the guitarist. They have a great rapport and you can see how greatly he admires her talent.
I think it's all Angelina, and no one coaching her on the various styles/versions. Even at the age of eight, she had a vast knowledge of the jazz standards and the ability to mix and match from many artists that she admired.

She often laughs at him even in their later years- they are just beautiful together. He is an absolute genius playing for her. He has been interviewed on Wrapped in a Warm Blanket. You must listen to that.. Oh my her story is so well documented it’s a real privilege.

Egil has been playing for Angelina since she was a kid up until now. Whenever Angelina is in Norway or has some singing engagements in Europe or mid-Asia he sometimes goes with her. Their musical connection is deep-rooted.
Egil played with her at a concert in Korea too I believe... her performances there were wonderful and many (even of her fans) are not familiar with them
I would also agree that her style in this rehearsal would be meant for her performance on "The View" and what a performance it is.

Billie Holiday, Grandma Mery are all the greats that has coached Angelina throughout the years. She is self taught, worked very hard at it.
From the sound of this and her apparent age this looks like a rehearsal for "The View" which she did at age 8. (IMO) Great reaction and yes Egil does like making Angelina laugh.
I have never heard this version ! Quite distinct from all the other (many ) Angelina renditions of this song I have heard... She is having a lot of musical fun here with Egil and the pianist I think.. Interesting that you mention Egil's "head bobble".... there are several videos where Angelina just can't hold back the giggles... he knew how to keep her happy and amused during lots of real hard work.

I think you're absolutely right; I totally believe that she's not only rehearsing but seriously experimenting with her vibrato in particular which, as she demonstrates in her more recent years, she has grown to completely master. And those hand gestures have become an intrinsic part of her performances.
I don’t think I’ll be very good at putting this into words, but I agree that Angelina is trying out some stuff here. When she’s performing in public, some type of switch gets thrown in her brain-and she’s right on the money. Here, I think her overall performance is less cohesive. Her vocal treatment of some of the words and phrases is something I haven’t heard before. It’s so great to hear that musicality that just flows out of her, but if she were singing in public, it would be more polished and uniform. She is an absolute wonder.
It's LITERALLY what you are supposed to do in a rehearsal 🙂. Well technically, there are different kinds of rehearsals and technically a "dress rehearsal" is intended to be a replica to prep, etc. But when you're already a professional and - especially in a small group - freedom is not only allowed but the norm. It would likely be a bit different with a larger group but she's such a pro already and it's literally just a practice session which is often experimental by nature. Sometimes, my funk band in college would just jam on a new tune just to get a feel before following the arrangement. And I had a metal band (crazy right?) in middle school that we'd "off the record" just play to experiment. You don't always need these formalities or names but it does get more challenging with bigger groups and here...let freedom reign!

At this age from late 8 Is two age late nine, She was also deep diving into louis armstrong... As you could hear in that wild middle of I put a spell on you. But also a softer louis armstrong sound shows up elsewhere... Just after I type this I heard you say that very thing.
Aaron, I love this progression that you have been going through on this journey. This is the song she has sung the most of over the years. My favorite by far is when she was 12 at the Quincy Jones 85th birthday celebration. For me it is Frank Sinatra all the way with orchestra. And maturity in her voice and technique. When you get to it, you will love it.
Her style in this rehearsal reminds me of her performance on The View. I'll be interested in your thoughts when you get to that performance.
I don't want to spoil the reaction (I've already done it and it will be released in a couple days) but I'll just say that we are seeing eye to eye (ear to ear?) on that one 😜

You’re catching on. Jordan was called the girl with a thousand voices for a reason. She didn’t just sing scales in practice. She’s a jazz singer and constantly experimented on using her vocal cords to produce different tones, thus she could channel different artists such as Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Etta James, Gloria Gaynor, even now, Michael Jackson, Miley Cyrus, Amy Whinehouse, Whitney Houston, Lana del Rey, not imitations but whole songs sung sounding very much like the original. Can’t wait for you to get to her TikTok years, when she would post short segments of songs where she was working on different aspects such as breath control, riffs, runs, range etc. and most fans didn’t even realize what she was doing lol! Mostly they complained it was too short, we need a full version, or that was horrible, not realizing she was practicing a run!
Simply amazing. Btw, the next 10 or so Angelina videos you see, I've already reacted to them all and had the previous 10 or so beforehand too. On vacation so not many opportunities to record so did a bunch in advance and daily do some quick editing and publishing just to keep up with a twice daily publishing
👣My take on this session of rehearsels is; - There might be a possability she had reasently discovered the greek singer Demis Roussos. The fact that she also did rehears his song "Forever and ever" at this same occation, and she very much did put her own voice close to his, - and did so very well even. So she might have even wanted to do other songs using elements from the same voice. In that case - she is experimenting indeed. And that is what she has done all the time, I think, trying out different genres. She has been more than willing to do just that troughout the years. Dude! Reacting to 3-4 performances of the same song is good but my word it’s going to take you forever to catch up with current AJ videos and songs. Most of us AJ fans have heard these songs before. I don’t mind watching your reaction to her older songs but hearing them 5-6 times is going take you forever to catch up . My humble advice is react to one performance and on to the next. Your input on an AJ performance is educational to me but think about just doing one reaction to one song hen go to the next. Anyway, I like your channel very much.
I tend to agree with you. Still, he has a great pace though. I`d more like to suggest 2 or 3 songs or versions for one video. Comments might not be as spesific, but perhaps more clear development from one video to the next. Anyway, great comments from Aron, and great entertainment, beside the very nice insight he gives. 🤗
She was indeed late 8 here, according to Egil in the interview with Alan Papier, it was "almost at Christmas time". Note that there are clips from the same rehearsals, which wrongly state age 7 in their title.

When she was little, Angelina often got a cold in her respiratory tract when she sang 😲, including at the Nobel Peace Prize where she sang at the age of 8 😲 because she always sang barefoot 👣, even in winter! And despite the doctor's ban, AJ carried on singing! This could have turned out badly for her vocal cords in the future! She was lucky 🍀or did God's 🙏💫 hand 🤚 on her?? But Angelina is not a "normal child", which is why Angelina sings 😲 anyway!
