pidarasblyat Right. It‘s a functional car. Not a pretty one. It‘s supposed to do it‘s job without anything out of it‘s comfort zone. We actually have one. But the old B8 from 2014 and it‘s an Estate. It really does have everything a family needs: It has a big boot, a lot of space in the back, it‘s well made and reliable. What does a family need.
And here’s the problem. It may be front wheel drive but it still does spin it‘s wheel quite quickly. And the Traction Control is rubbish. If I were gonna buy one. It would be an Alltrack version because of the four wheel drive.

DSG is the only negative thing and what makes the car irrelevant.. Too unreliable.

I’m on my 2nd EA288 Passat. My latest; I found a loaded CPO car at a nearby VW dealership. Just below 50k mi on clock. Rings aren’t even seated yet! New rubber and good to go! My first daily driver w/automatic tranny (early 60’s here!) LUVIN’ it for past 4 months. Eldest son bought one, too, to replace deer-totaled Jetta TDI.

I would like to try the Euro-spec Passat. I have the 2017 American version (gas 1.8 TSI) which, for most American roads and my age (65), is fairly entertaining, roomy and comfortable. Wish it had the dual-clutch trans. Enjoyed driving around the secondary roads in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in sport mode on a recent trip to California. That is where the car shines. A limiter on U.S. models does not allow speeds above 180kph/112mph.

This is a lovely place to be in long trips and also very comfortable. Although I'm a Honda fanboy the Passat is on my list of future cars!

Cool video! Is there a such thing as a speeding ticket on that road? =) I have the 2017 Passat and love it. My only complaints are intermittent electronics issues and there is significant road noise.

is this really top speed flat out? if so why in 6th gear does it never get about about 3.5krpm when you have up to about 5.4krpm to go to, is this governed at this speed or has the engine not enough torque to rev any higher in 6th gear?
People complaining about the noise have clearly never driven one. I have an Audi A8 as well as this gen Passat, and the Passat is very close in terms of sound insulation, the reason its so loud in this video is because there is no noise suppression on the microphone, do the same test in a Mercedes and you'll still hear some wind and road noise.

My passat 2.0 TDI (2007) Looks the same in speeding. Maybe after 200 it get speed little bit slower but it variant so it should be heavier.
My father has Passat 2.0 tdi 2007 variant too. It's highline edition. He's first owner. Today it has only 37 000 km mileage. I love it so much. I'm also taking my driver license exam in a month and can't wait to drive it on my own. He said that he will buy me Golf V/VI. Love Volkswagen

Se. Fischer Well, to be honest - no. I drove that passat for about 2 months - amazing car. Then i had VW polo V 2015 also small kilometrage (20k) 1.2 tsi 90hp. Its a great car fot city driving - small and dynamic. Now i am a happy owner of audi q5 2009 2.0 tdi 170 km. Thats a huge, nice car!

Where you live is really beautiful! Also your driving is really smooth and nice. I just purchased my Passat B8 in Malaysia, loving the car! Unfortunately we do not get a diesel option (which i prefer). Instead mine is the 1.8TSI.

Have the same B8 with 150HP Diesel, but 6-speep manual. Top speed (a bit down hill; A9 close to Munich) is true 227km/h according to my Garmin GPS and the car showed beyond 240km/h on the meter...

Passat is a D segment car. I think Audi A6 is more exclusive.

@@orecrnogorac5388 Because the gears are long enough that it doesn't need it. It just seems unnecessary. It's like putting traction control on a 1963 Beetle, or making a Nissan Versa a 4x4. Like, when is it going to actually use that?
For 2018 VW cars in USA will be made stateside, lets hope the quality and VW name can endure the non- German manufacturing.
All Passats made in TN-USA since 2012 already. Except CC. Not sure about i-6 mfg final assem origin..
Now is the best time ever to buy VW - quality is up, HQ is watching this closely, really long warranties. Prices are down. MPG on regular is upper 30’s. Really good finance terms/options/rates.

I miss the A1, I've got the jetta 2l tdi in canada and I miss driving in Germany. It's soooo slow here and people cannot drive. The autobahn is so fluid in comparison

shift it to M where you'll see a + and- either shift with the paddles or by manually shifting the gear up or down

@@jakelamotta2387 okay so long you have that M or S mode with the + or - there that engages the sport mode so just shit like you would in a manual but now you'll just push the gear knob up for higher gears then down to engage the lower gears bro

268 ft/# torque.. 150hp. If you flash it add 50/100 with the latest tune. I wonder if is why the big 3, via EPA, took down the gen3 TDI - it also gets 50+mpg at US speed limit on mid-grade priced LS diesel fuel. I just bought a NMS TDI passat that was released from the compound in auburn hills and it rocks. At 162,000miles when the lawsuit warranty extension wears off I think every one of these will be flashed in the aftermarket. The next classic car...

Why not using torque instead of horse power? It’s useless to rev Diesel engine up to 4000 when torque falls down at 3000.
Have you seen that it is automatic?
ÜBERHOLSPUR Yes I can see it. Of course. I don’t understand why german engineers set the software this way. I have 1,4 TSI 150 hp, and I can feel, that car is faster, when I’m using torque around 3000 and 4000rpm, instead of revving it up to 6000rpm. And I have only 250 Nm. So I can imagine, that 340Nm in this diesel can easier accelerate between 2000 and 3000rpm. You can try it by manual mode. Do you have new wet 7speed DSG? I also see, that you were using "S" mode all time. Why not "D"?
